We don't know what Microsoft's long term internal goals are. But I don't think it is about forcing Sony out of gaming. I think it is more to get Sony out of the platform side of things. I don't think Microsoft has any problems with Sony making and providing games, but they want Windows to be installed on every console and they want to be providing the core cloud services to games. That does not mean they want Sony out of gaming.

@LordoftheCritics
I think all they are saying is they could of made a $59.99 game and spent a ton of money making it into a full experience and then it not sell well because it is kind of a niche market in space fighters.

Instead they built the core game, and they want people to play it, and it may not have the content and longevity of a full price game so they are putting it out at a cheaper price to see how it does. And if it does well they can start building it...

From a gamer view a network paywall is a bad thing for sure.

But, it does cost these companies a lot of money to run a network like XBL. So the money has to be retrieved elsewhere. I would rather them retrieve it directly and tell me what I am paying for then indirectly through other means such as microtransactions.

To me though instead of charging gamers for the network they could take a completely different approach. You spend time waiting in multi-p...

I think the like of Playground Games is more about how they took a dying genre which was arcade racers and completely have redefined it and in the four Horizon games, each time they have really built on redefining the genre. They are essentially the top of arcade racing games.

Now, there is no guarantee that they can do the same with Fable for sure. But, it is culture and their current reputation that defines the potential and excitement that people like me have for their...

FPS shooters have been around for about two decades now.

What do you think would qualify as creative in a FPS for an existing franchise such as Halo?

I get what you are saying but the FPS genre seems to have tried everything. The grapple I think will add a lot to the skull searching I think. Now skulls aren't just going to be on the ground or relatively easy to traverse and find. They can be almost anywhere.

Agreed. Polydigital does not rush their games at all, and GT didn't have a release date in the showcase so I doubt they are going to push it out the door this year with next to zero marketing. Sony is very careful with their game marketing. None of their AAA games are marketed in only a 1-3 month period. They are brilliant at building game excitement over a 2-4 year period for their AAA games.

I enjoyed the gameplay from the showcase. Reminded me of the gameplay in older Halo games. So, I was good there.

But, still nothing to convince me that I have to jump aboard either XSX or PS5 on Day One. Felt more like lets wait and jump aboard in a year after the prices drop or they come up with bigger SSDs and better external drive options. For me 1 TB internal and maybe 1 TB external is not a enough to justify spending $499, to constantly move games on and off fast h...

Who said Forza Motorsports was delayed?

From what I heard at the showcase they are working on a regular devt schedule. People sit there and complain about how fast iterations of FM come out, and now they take some time to improve the engine and game and people start calling it a "delay".

People can't have it both ways, and when I saw the trailer I was impressed. The cars looked beautiful and the cars dropping the the S tu...

Ya, people don't even know the price yet. If you are for sure buying something without know price that is pretty stupid.

I am sure that we know what first party games will be the highlight reel and that is Halo on XSX and Spider-man on PS5. We are 3 months from launch now. I doubt there will be any new first party surprises for launch. The rest of both company's studios are working on longer term games probably past 2021-2.

For me it is disappointing. If Horzon Forbidden West or Fable was a launch game I may have been excited to jump to the next consoles. At this point there is absol...

Gabe calls it as he sees it which I like.

But neither console has convinced me that I need to buy them on Day One for the probable $499 price tag.

Both Spider-man and Halo look like good games. But no reason to spend $499. Until I see firm release dates for the future games or a game releasing only on next gen consoles that I must have, I will just keep going with my current gen hardware collection.

I actually expected something completely new and fresh from Bungie. After all the reason they separated from MS to begin with was because they felt that they felt creatively constrained. Destiny is a good game, but to say it is a creative leap away from Halo is pushing it I think.

Destiny is not by far the first GaaS game. That model existed well before Destiny.

I would say Destiny is more like Halo. Literally first time I played Destiny I thought, "I feel right at home with this new Halo engine".

They definitely want sales for sure.

But, that isn't MS's driver for being in the gaming market. The drivers are more about how it feeds the Windows innovation, Azure innovation, and Microsoft development tools.

Of course they want sales because more sales is more money... But, the driver is more about assuring their other worlds are at or near the top.

I don't agree with defending the demo.

It was what it was.

And to me, I enjoyed the game play. The graphical side... I am sure most of that gets worked out by release. There is a reason why it was called a "demo" and not a "release". If the game was completely ready it would've shipped by now.

Other then comments from people on this site, I don't feel there are console wars anymore.

We have are going into the fourth consecutive generation with the same console vendors... Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo. They have all excepted that each other exist and will continue to exist. Maybe for different reasons but there is a purpose in each one.

A war requires attrition. And none of the companies are leaving the space any time soon.

@TheLigX
During Sony's presentation they labelled games as Holiday 2020 and other games as 2021. Almost all the game did not have labelled years. There was nothing in their presentation that said any games not labelled would ship in 2029 or 2021 and one game was labelled 2022 so the games might even be farther out.

Spider-man - Holiday 2020
Project Athia - No date, and it is only a working title
R*C Rift Apart - No date
Stray - 2021...

Personally, I stay away from any games in Preview. Just a personal policy that I don't pay for incomplete games.

I don't mind games in GamePass evolving over time, but there has to be a base set of completion.
