I make a lot more than $70K per year, but it is a big deal to me...
The problem is that eating out has been becoming more expensive, buying food at the store has become more expensive, vehicles are more expensive, getting your kids through university and college are more expensive, governments are adding carbon taxes making things more expensive, etc.
Each one may only add $10 to cost, but taken all together they equate to $100's of dollars per mon...
With backwards compatibility I don't see there being generations anymore.
Every 3-5 years we just see new consoles and they just run everything already written. No need to call generations anymore.
Ya, I found that comment pretty interesting. Some people are making a big deal about PS5 SSD performance saying that PS5 will have a huge advantage because of it, but there has not yet been a single devt that works on both platforms saying there is any real difference in actual games created.
First, if PS5 can't do 4K 60fps that would be pretty bad. I don't think anyone says PS5 cannot hit 4K 60fps. If they do they don't know what they are talking about.
Second, "Effects won't be by much when Devs get more familiar with the PS5"... They don't really state how much better effects are with XSX, but as devts get more familiar with any platform the effects will improve. This will be the case for both platforms not just PS5.
There is no way Sony changes course until their pocketbook is hit. They have a model and it is serving them well. The only reason they would change the model is because it stops working.
If new game prices are high and this console generation starts with $499 consoles there is going to be a price barrier to entry. Enthusiasts will buy the consoles right away but the casual gamer will probably wait.
I think things are concerning for both consoles.
On the Sony front there was not a lot of first party games that were tagged with "Holiday 2020". Same with XSX so far.
And people have done parts estimates and both consoles look to be at $499. Discless version probably $449.
Add that publishers are considering raising game prices and all of a sudden this next gen is starting to have a price barrier to entry.
I have played DMC5, Dishonored 1&2, 2 Yazuka games, Final Fantasy XV, Just Cause 4, all three Metros, Gears 5, Wolfenstein 2, Middle-Earth, both Ori's, and the Outer Worlds on GamePass since day one of gamepass without buying any of them. Normally, I would've bought them so GamePass has saved me tons of cash on these games. And almost all these games I had played within just a few months of release so they weren't on any mega sales yet.
LOL. This next generation is not looking good.
1) I expect both consoles to be $499 on the high end
2) Maybe as low as $399 on the low end without disc drives
3) Raised prices for games
Not sure there is a reason for me to move to next gen if the launch game highlights are Spider-man and Halo for each console. Spider-man is only two years from initial release so the launch game is probably just a new story and some graphical improvemen...
I think fanboys all around are over hyping both consoles. At this point I am down to launch games for which console(s) to buy including none. There has to be a reason to go out and spend the estimated price of $400-500 for a new console.
I went and was playing The Witcher 3 again last night. Marveling at the graphics. Can't believe how awesome the enhanced XBO X version looks. Started playing Last of Us II earlier this week and it looks amazing as well. I don'...
Right now I am on the fence about buying next gen consoles day one. But, a solid showing of Halo and Fable with both being at launch would change that.
But, given that we have seen nothing officially on the next Fable game, I don't see how it comes out at launch.
Exactly.... Theory and factual reality are two different things.
Once these consoles ship the performance based on the games, services, and consoles themselves will identify which one has an edge for the next 3-10 years.
In reality, I think many gamers decided long before this generation of consoles was even announced. A lot of core gamers are bought in to their current console and will just be going to the next iteration staying with what has worked f...
@AngelicIceDiamond
Ya, I know you meant Bethseda, but isn't the point of GamePass to try and reach more gamers and grow the game?
All games on gamepass are not there out of desperation. They could be there for a variety of reasons. By saying they are desperate you are implying that games only enter gamepass out of desperation (because there has been no statement on why the game is on gamepass you are speculating rather then laying out facts). There have been...
I just started the game on GamePass about a month ago and was impressed. Much better then I expected.
How does GamePass make a company desperate?
GTA, Darksiders, Metro, Wolfenstein, Deadrising, DiRT, F1, Final Fantasy, Dishonored, Middle-Earth, No Man's Sky, Rage, Saints Row, Just Cause, The Surge, Yakuza, and many other franchises have put their games on GamePass.
I guess pretty much every major publisher is desperate.
Viva Pinata, Kameo, Banjo-Kazooie, Perfect Dark...
Bring back catalogue Rare IPs please!
I hear you. I am optimistic about this game because of their track record, but we have to wait and see how a Cyberpunk RPG really plays out on a AAA budget.
@badz149
I hated Don M. from the start. He was overly focused on the whole entertainment experience. And his direction led to the crap that was XBO at launch. By far my worst investment decision. If wasn't for my credit card compromise from the PSN fiasco a couple years earlier, I would've probably dropped XB and become a PS only gamer.
Games should be the "Right" length. That is a constant balancing act that developers have to meet. Some games I wish would end after the first chapter.... Others are like I am a drug attic, I just can't get enough! (I don't do drugs)
I quite enjoyed Ninja Blade on X360 as well.
