All AppStores are monopolies and the current models should be torn down and rebuilt from the ground up.
The reason I call them monopolies is that many people cannot afford to re-buy all their apps in another appstore if they choose to change therefore the "switching costs" make this a monopoly. This rationale was established by the USA department of justice in their anti-trust lawsuit against Microsoft in the late 1990's. And all appstores are the biggest of...
LOL. But when are the going to announce yet another remaster of Skyrim for XSX and PS5?
By definition Angry Joe has already lost his mind.
Agreed. The only surprise would be if PS5 did not outsell XSX.
I disagree.
Since Halo Reach, the Halo games felt pretty average. Halo 4 was the worst Halo game to date. Halo 5 they did good on MP, but single player campaign was very average. Hopefully Halo Infinite returns the campaign to a solid state and they keep up good work on MP.
This will be the first generation that I don't buy a launch console probably. Nothing to do with the consoles themselves. More about neither console has a compelling launch game. Both highlight launch games are sequels (Halo and Spider-man).
Kind of sad really.
Yes, but it doesn't matter whether it is first party or third party games. This is a big source of revenue for them. That is really all this is saying. The title is accurate because this is the major source of revenue for Sony.
To me, it does not imply Sony is the bad guy, it just tells us where money is being made in gaming. And look at how low retail sales of games are now.
What is really striking to me is how little hardware is on the revenue s...
@IRetrouk
LOL. You took a comment I made 2,148 days ago. Very good.
I think my thoughts have evolved since then.
@IRetrouk
Please point me to one of my comments where I explicitly say exclusive content is good.
Oh, and by the way nothing on XB is exclusive anyhow. It all ships on PC.
I think people are making this out to be more then it is. Any changes would be to address games like FF XIV and the Gold paywall requirement for online. It is nice to see MS working to (hopefully) fix these things.
But I doubt there will be any less money wanted from gamers. If people think a bargain is coming I think they would be mistaken.
It is sad to see gamers not sticking up for other gamers and defending company practices over defending the gaming community as a whole.
This is what makes the world so sad today. People are defending company practices that promote have vs have nots in communities like gaming. It is really sad actually. there is no justification and not a single comment back actually addressed my points about blu-ray/dvd and cd not having the same practices as gaming. Again, just really ...
So, just because its been in the last two generations that justifies the practice?
As far as I am concerned any exclusive content is anti-consumer. There is no reason to make people that only have one device, suffer because they may not be able to afford the other devices and therefore the most content full version of the game.
Gamers who play $60 on whatever device to play this game deserve to get the full content. I don't get better content on blu...
As I go through this exercise I am seeing that people fall for marketing more and more.
1) Neither console has revealed its update UI fully
2) Neither console has a price yet
3) Neither console has a game launch lineup fully announced yet
I follow the news and forums and gamers often say that games are everything. Yet neither company has announced their games lineup. So, gamers are resorting on the PS side to, "Well Sony always de...
Console sales mean something but not as much as people think. Things that skew the numbers:
1) People re-buying because of collector editions
2) Re-buys for PS4 Pro
3) Re-buys because their console died after warranty
4) Buys by the same person for multiple consoles for multiple TVs or two play couch co-op on two TVs
It is difficult to understand true numbers.
Agreed with you.... Neither console vendor has a compelling reason to move to the next gen yet. You look back at this last gen and really a compelling next gen game did not show up until year 3 (Bloodborne).
PS: R&C Rift Apart and GT7 weren't announced as launch games so really it is just Spider-man.
I watched the Major Nelson video on the XB Store yesterday. Think they did a pretty god job but the one pet peeve I have is you cannot put movies in your cart and that doesn't seemed to be solved from the demo I saw.
I would like to see them remake the whole Max Payne trilogy not just Max Payne 3.
I am really not sure about Outriders. People Can Fly are a good developer but they really haven't proven them selves as a top notch developer yet. Their most successful games were when they were involved as supporting cast, not with games where thy were the primary developer.
That said, I really enjoyed Painkiller and Bulletstorm but got both out of the sales bin rather then on Day One.
LOL. Given that we are three months away from console launch I would expect pre-orders to open "soon".
I am surprised neither companies have opened pre-orders yet.
That means they have more information to show or they do not know how many consoles they will have available at launch for certain yet because of COVID.
