I'm sure Call of Duty would continue to make ridiculous money no matter what, and (surprisingly to me given the sourness over Titanfall) they have joined Backwards Compatibility.
Free is not always good.
Often they are Pay 2 Progress rather than being truly free.
No matter how you look at it competition is good.
Tomb Raider had stagnated until Uncharted came and reset the bar much higher. Then, Tomb Raider raised the bar again, and Uncharted will hopefully continue to raise the bar as well.
Good for all gamers!
I find this really funny. MS said they would release BC and then 100's of games would follow. So, supposed "journalists" are measuring MS on the first release of BC games.
BC is a new feature, and just like any other new feature of this nature you start with the stuff you know will work, work out the kinks and then add the stuff that is more complex.
MS has a solid lineup of games for the holiday season (People knocking Tomb Raider's ship ...
Here is a new concept.
Gamer's pay attention to games rather than stupid sales. I couldn't care less about how much it sells. But I want to play great games! Fanboys care about sales, gamers care about games.
Since I have X1 I bought the deluxe version and will be playing all night tonight, and tomorrow since it is a national holiday for us tomorrow (remembrance day).
I have given up buying AAA RPGs on Day One. Lords of the Fallen had game breaking issues, Dragon Age had issues, Witcher III had save corruption issues, and now Fallout 3 with framerate issues.
I'll just wait until its cheaper and fully patched.
In the meantime, Rise of the Tomb Raider will keep me busy!
More does not mean better.
I really hate it when people say there are "more games than ABC console".
Sure, you can have a 1,000 games on your console, but if they all suck it really doesn't matter. (I'm not saying that PS4 games suck, its just that quantity is not a measure of quality).
Tomb Raider will sell good if gamers like it. Pure and simple.
As for Fallout 4, many gamers don't want to commit 400+ hours to a game like Fallout 4 and would prefer the 10-20 hours from Tomb Raider. It is not like these games are the same genre or completion with each other.

"Yes, Microsoft will be publishing ‘Rise of the Tomb Raider’ on Xbox," a Square Enix representative told us via email. "Microsoft has always seen huge potential in ‘Tomb Raider’ and they will get behind this game with more support across developme...
Gamers don't rate winning or losing on sales.
Gamers play games and decide winners or losers based on quality of the game.
If everything was based on sales, then CoD should be game of the year pretty much every year. I doubt anyone would say CoD has been GOTY every year for the past 10 years.
How did MS screw everyone? I don't see any X1 gamers complaining. And because the sales weren't enough for the last Tomb Raider reboot, Sq...
Strong reviews for Rise of the Tomb Raider.
Sitting at 87 on Metacritic after 51 reviews! Pretty much the same as the previous game! Which was a gem from last generation!
This list is a good start! They seem to be making this into a monthly feature where they will release a few every month to keep reminding people of the service!
Very good approach. For example, since Black Ops is coming, it is probably safe to assume Activision will release the rest of CoDs over time.
This is a dumb article. The Halo Reach box art has been on all of the BC pages since day one.
The game still does not appear in the BC list down below though and therefore this is not confirmation.
That said, MS has stated that they want Reach on BC, so I am sure it will be part of the announcement tomorrow.
Microsoft does not get any credit for its support of the 360. Fable Anniversary, Forza Horizon 2, Screamride, and now Rise of the Tomb Raider all new first party published games that shipped day one on 360 hardware. The other console vendors have not released a first party published retail game on their consoles for almost two years!
Then, MS continues to update the OS bringing things like friends feed, store improvements, external hard drive support, etc.
...
Or maybe fanboys shouldn't approve these types of articles to begin with.
Gamers are about games and the gaming experience.
Fanboys are about comparing consoles. And fanboys aren't gamers.
You may want to preface that with "In your opinion".
The last Tomb Raider was the first one with deep story and gameplay. All previous Tomb Raiders were very light on story. And not as good on gameplay.
To further on that, achievements/trophies record the history and progress you have in a game. To me, that allows me to let my friends know that I have played and completed certain things in the game.
Sort of like the fishermen who says, "they caught the big one" but has no pictures or proof... Achievement/trophies prove "that you caught the big one".
This game was so bad I don't know why they continued with it. Doesn't compare to NFS, DiRT, Forza Horizon, or DriveClub at any level.
BC will have 100 games on day one of release. The full list will be announced November 9th.

And X1 has 300+ native X1 games released as well.

Companies invest 10's and 100's of millions of dollars to make game engines that are a mix of third party tools and their own proprietary technologies.
Every single game developer will re-use last gen code where possible and it makes sense. They will build new based on what makes sense as well.
Judging games only on their visual differences from last gen is wrong. There are a lot more "depth" to these games than just their visuals. There ...
