I don't see what the issue is.
First, these are completely optional. They are not forcing you into the microtransactions in order to progress the game.
Second, the game platforms allow you to buy avatar items, themes, etc. So, why can't games allow you to buy extra optional stuff within the game.
You don't have to do them if you don't want to. It is not like they are forcing you to play 200 hours to progress a story or use ...
However you look at this it is not the way Sony should do BC and it is clearly a cash grab. Nintendo has always had forms of BC on their consoles for free, Windows is BC for free, and now XB1 has the ability to do full BC to X360 (Publisher’s option).

As a general rule I add 2 years to the ship date when Kojima games are announced.
This is because his games always get delayed and pushed back. MGS IV was two years late and MGS V was late by over a year. When afforded that kind of extra time developers should make 90+ Metacritic games.
First, I think it is wrong for Konami not to bring Kojima back to receive these awards.
But, I don't agree with almost everyone on the canning of Kojima because I do not remember a recent Kojima game that was not at least a year behind schedule. If every game is given 7 years between sequels to create new games they should all be great.
Naughty Dogg outputs quality games every two years. Kojima Productions last did MGS IV as a main game in 2008.
Although this game looks great, I have not bought it, nor will I buy a sequel unless it has a single player campaign.
I will pay $60 for a complete AAA game. Which to me includes a single player component equal to or greater then 8 hours and includes replayability of that single play component.
The only way I will bring SW:BF home right now is at $20.

In Forza's case tokens have been microtransaction in Forza 4, Horizon 1, Forza 5, Horizon 2, and now Forza 6.

How are games on console better than PC?
a) There are literally 10's of thousands of games more on PC then any console.
b) There is only two AAA publishers that does not release on PC. Sony and Nintendo.
c) Most games are developed and shipped on PC first, then ported to consoles later.

OK. I have a Oculus Rift VR devt kit. Two weeks later it has sat on the shelf since.
I am sure some people will really love and use VR, but there are a lot of people that won't.
Full face coverage is actually really annoying to me. But, that is just my opinion. I know many differ with that.
I hope people realize that HoloLens won't be cheap.
Unlike VR devices, HoloLens is a full computer. So, if people think HoloLens will ship at less than $500 US they are probably way wrong. The price of HoloLens is more likely to start close to $1,000 if not higher.
That said, I am sure I will be picking one up to play with and use at home.

It doesn't matter what they do, if a game is broken on day one I don't buy it anymore.
Whether it is DriveClub, Halo MCC, Battlefield 4, or Tony Hawk, if they ship crap on day one and fix it later I refuse to buy it.
Such a basic out of the box use for Holo Lens but yet it is a really great way to show what it can be used for. No special programming required. Just install the XB App on your Holo Lens and enjoy game streaming to any place you can reach your network!

Sony, did absolutely nothing for me. Fortunately the laws in Canada limit our exposure to these types of things and my credit card company dealt with it, but Sony were frankly idiots about it.
