4K TVs are still too expensive. I see no reason to rush Scorpio to support TVs 90% of the planet don't have.
The slim is a very good improvement on the original Xbox One. HDR, smaller, no brick, and for those who are venturing into 4K early a suitable Blu-ray.
A 100,000 unit difference is absolutely huge in the month of August.
I would think that the run up to the new PS4's probably froze sales a bit on Sony's side knowing a new console was on its way.
I think XB also did really good sales considering that most S consoles were premium and white versions.
The $250 versions I don't think played in much. Frankly, the old consoles are big, bulky, and I would rather spend the extra $...
@littlezizu
Japan used to sell about 200,000 consoles a week back in 2007. Now they are selling less then 70,000 a week.
No matter how you slice it the Japanese console market is dying and being replaced by the mobile market.
"The Last Guardian Looks Gorgeous in 16 Minutes of Gameplay Footage"
I wish people would talk about the actual gameplay and story.
There have been a lot of "gorgeous" looking games this generation that just aren't that great. It is easy to make stuff look gorgeous now. 1080p and 4K are becoming norms. What separates great games from regular games is the stuff that you can't see anymore... Gameplay, story, mood, etc.
Well said.
From what I've seen the game looks awesome and I have no problem paying for a great game.
I've spent $50-60 on a lot of games I wish I wouldn't have. I now wait for reviews to determine the price I am willing to pay for a game.
I do not like what Sony is offering up.
The slim is fine and a given. Both Sony and MS made one and they are fine. MS one-upped Sony with a 4K Blu-ray, but Sony one upped MS by saying HDR would work on original PS4 as well.
But to me the pro seems to be barely a 4k device and the lack of Blu-ray 4k means we might see another PS4 in 2018. Whereas it looks like MS is waiting for the right hardware to be available at the right price for their 4k console. ...
It is funny how last gen Sony was a leader in this with Unreal Tournament III mods.
But now they seem to think they are in command and don't need mods.
They made a ton of press last gen how they were adopting Unreal Tournament III with mods. Now they are downplaying them.
These are actually really good adds.
Bayonetta is one of the best action games from last gen and is easily a cult classic.
de Blob is another solid game that didn't get sales but deserved much better
Arkanoid and Qix are both classic games from the 80's. Simple yet entertaining
Of Orcs and Men I don't know anything about
Adding these to Red Dead Redemption, Halo Reach, Black Ops, and the many others just broadens th...
Now all they have to do is add Ninja Gaiden II and they will have the two best Hack n Slash games from last gen.
So if UHD is not important to you why would you even consider a PS4 Pro?
It plays all the same games as a PS4 but does so at a higher resolution. It is not designed to change gameplay. It is only designed to make things look better and run a bit smoother.
I think that not including a UHD Blu-ray is a massive over sight. The purpose of PS4 Pro is to support 4K for games. A secondary reason why many people buy a console is for the Blu-ray playback. If ...
That is factually incorrect. Sony started doing network gameplay on the PS2 before XB even shipped. Sony was ahead, but decided to sit on it.
Microsoft shipped XB later and took network gaming to a new height.

Really?
Once Scorpio was announced I saw tons of articles like:
Microsoft killed slim before it ships
Microsoft is trying to kill consoles
Scorpio doesn't have the power for true 4K
etc.
The media has not helped Microsoft at all. I think Microsoft have just made a bunch of solid gamer decisions the past few years.
Backwards Compatibility
EA Access
4k Blu-ray in slim
...
And this is exactly why at least two major console vendors for core gamers is important.
Gamers should remember.
Last generation Microsoft started with a lead and Sony made a bunch of good pro-gamer moves to work their way back into things.
This generation Sony started the lead an Microsoft is making a bunch of pro-gamer moves to work their way back into things.
@donthate
Please list all the amazing Sony AAA games with a release date in the next 6 months. Yes Sony games. Not third party games.
Yes. That is to March 9, 2017.
I know Microsoft currently has:
Forza Horizon 3 - Australia
Recore
Gears of War 4
Halo Wars 2
A nice variety. Racing, shooter, platforming adventure, and RTS.
I don't think 4K consoles will sell that well this year.
The big problem is the number of gamers that buy 4K TVs. And 4K TVs are a huge premium over 1080p TVs.
I can buy a smokin' 1080p TV for 2/3 the price of a 4K TV. And I find it really doesn't matter until you are above 60" whether the TV is 4K or 1080p. Smart, cost conscious gamers will pass on 4K for the most part. Only when the cost model for 4K TVs improves will gamers move...
I would've preferred a PS4 vs PS4 Pro comparison
To see why I would buy pro over ordinary PS4
Just like Wiimote, Kinect, VR, etc. This stuff will find what it is good at and do it well. But, it will not be good at everything.
I really wish that game publishers would take note of how popular these kinds of things are with core gamers.
I would love to see:
All the Resident Evils adapted and remade into the Resident Evil 7 engine as one massive game
All the Tomb Raiders adapted and remade into the Rise of Tomb Raider engine as one massive game
All the Halos adapted and remade into the Halo 5 engine as one massive game
All the God of Wars adapted and rem...
If they don't port it I won't buy it because I do not own a PS4 anymore. Their loss not mine.
I did my share, if they don't want to port a game to my console of choice, they are not interested in my money.
