Honestly, I didn't see anything to make me go out and buy an PS4 slim or Pro.
I was looking last night at launch PS4's to see if I could find a good deal on the existing console. Since HDR will be on original PS4 and I like the original PS4 design I would buy one of them rather then the slim. I see nothing that makes slim any better then the original PS4 and I can find the original PS4 cheaper because they are trying to clear the stock.
For PS4 ...
Nothing today compelled me to re-buy a PS4 (I had one and got rid of it).
Why not?
Windows/PC gaming just keeps iterating.
iOS gaming just keeps iterating.
Android gaming just keeps iterating.
Consoles are one of the few devices that do not iterate.
Nintendo is going to move towards being a third party gaming company.
NX will not do well and the mobile games are taking off.
To keep their console presence they will scrap hardware and become a third party powerhouse!
The whole concept of console generations is disappearing...
Don't you get it?
@Master of Unlocking
The whole concept of consoles is not disappearing. It is evolving and adapting to the current realities. We don't need a whole new operating system when a console ships anymore. Gaming engines are becoming much more mature and the operating systems are also becoming mature. We just need better hardware. The Xbox has been based on PC ha...
That is not the most important thing for everyone.
And if price is your thing, then it is probably best to wait until next year anyhow. Or buy an launch X1 or PS4 because they are the ones with the discounts right now.
Next year, the slims will both drop $100. And Sony would likely drop the Pro $100 to stay competitive if the new Xbox Scorpio is $399.
I don't see anywhere where these guys are Microsoft execs. They are heads of teams but not execs.
To me, this year's new consoles are disappointing.
PS4 Slim > No benefit except slightly smaller.
PS4 Pro > Power is not quite where it should be (probably) and lacks 4K blu-ray support (currently).
Xbox One S > Has 4K blu-ray but lacks any performance improvements.
I'll wait for Scorpio... Has the power and the 4K Blu-ray.
All you have to do is play Polychromatic to understand the difference between the regular controller and the elite. This is a dual stick shooter where precision becomes everything as the game gets harder.
On the regular controller I max'd out at about 25,000,000 score and just barely 25,000,000. On the elite controller I easily make 25,000,000 and usually get to 35,000,000 before I start having any problems.
How would $100 to the price?
You can buy an Xbox One S for $299 that has 4K Blu-ray at Best Buy

It does not appear that 4K Blu-ray raised the price of Xbox One S
I like the addition of HDR for all PS4s (Past and Future)!
I think the slim is completely useless. Only $100 less then PS4 Pro and doesn't offer anything to existing PS4 owners really. So, really only good for gamers on a limited budget. But, I am sure those same gamers will be watching for the original PS4 price drops that are already happening and scoop that instead.
I like PS4 Pro at $399. Great price point for extra power. But the lack of 4K ...
There is a rumor I saw that PS4 Pro does not have a 4K Blu-ray player.
Can anyone confirm or deny it?
That's fair. I honestly thought HDR was something that the console just did rather then it had to be developed.
I can admit I was just honestly wrong... Not trolling.
So if it does 4K gaming why did they show Uncharted and Tomb Raider with HDR only?
Or Sony could just be honest upfront. I don't mind at all that they are trying to build great games and that takes time. But, honestly does anyone believe Sony when they say a game will release in year X anymore?
So MS has to do everything Sony does?
Ummmmmm! No...
I am fine without VR. Do I think it will be good? Yes. Would I buy it at $399? No, I will not pay that much for any accessory.
Battlefield 1 has me more excited then Call of Duty Infinite Warfare. But Gears of War 4 has me more excited then Battlefield 1.
But, I must admit a biased because I just really love playing a game where my assault rifle doubles as a chainsaw!
So if they are trying to get to 4K gaming why are they releasing Neo?
Neo is clearly under spec'd as a 4K system. Scorpio is even questionable but will probably 4K most titles.
I think that the release of these consoles is more about maintaining sales momentum. It is clear that the current consoles are starting to slow in sales. So, they need to release new ones to spur sales. Until I see these consoles and their support of 4K I will wait. Unless...
I find it funny that people think this stuff can be changed so quickly.
There is months of hardware engineering, months of testing, and months of manufacturing design that goes into each console build not to mention contract commitments and lead time for developers to take advantage of the console's new specifications. Swapping specs on any device is at least a 10-14 month process assuming the company is willing to endure the costs of changing. It is difficult once de...
Diversity is a hugely subjective comment.
That is like me saying that XBL is better then PSN.
