Sony can't afford to support every possible platform in their games.
But, there are main platforms that should be supported. I feel the same about XB. I want my games available on as many devices as I use as possible. Whether it is Windows, Linus, MacOS. iOS, Chrome, Android, Linux, etc. But I leave it up to the Vendor to decide the best mix that they can support.
EULAs in all except Linux are issues for privacy and restrictio...
So what does affiliation have to do with what is good for gaming consumers.
There is not a single disadvantage for gamers to be able to play PS4 games on PC.
There are only advantages.
VR...
Really cool tech... Just not for everyone. That is to be expected.
Personally, I get motion sickness when playing some shooters and racing games on my big screen TVs. So, VR is not at all something I will try anytime soon.
Yet another fanboy article.
Is Backwards Compatibility an advantage?
Is game resolution an advantage?
Is the gaming network an advantage?
Is media capabilities an advantage?
Anything that differentiates a console from another console is probably an advantage. The question is more about how many people see it as such.
So you haven't played the game then.
There are motorcycles, elevator winches, mechs, and boss battles. They are spread throughout the game from beginning to end so you obviously haven't played the game at all.
Sequels and re-masters are not harming gaming.
Low effort sequels and poor ports (masqueraded as re-masters) are hurting gaming.
What I would love to see is doing stuff like taking the newest engines powering game sequels and reimagining all the previous games in the series in them... Gears of War, God of War, Uncharted, Resident Evil, Assassin's Creed, Final Fantasy, Mass Effect, GTA, Halo, Ratchet and Clank, Tomb Raiders, Deadrising, Wolfenstein, ...
I want a new Tomb Raider!
I have quite enjoyed the past two. And can't wait for the next one!
Fanboys fanboys...
The Sony people want to talk about exclusives all the time because it is an advantage the PS has over XB...
The XB people want to talk about 4K because it is an advantage of Scorpio over Neo (Or at least so we have been told).
And of your list there are only re-mastered versions of retail games and whack of indie games.
Where is Call of Duty Infinite Warfare, Dishonored 2, Battlefield 1, For Honor, Resident Evil 7, etc.
You know... The new games that everyone wants to play? Not the stuff that everyone has already played.
I believe that E3 announcements should have to release within the year after E3 occurs. Why announce a game that won't ship before the next E3? That is just pure marketing of vaporware and should be shunned by the gaming community.
Every game should be announced with a ship year. And it should not be allowed back to E3 if it gets delayed past that ship year. No exceptions for any company. The gaming industry first parties and publishers need to get their act togethe...
I play Rise of the Tomb Raider (Native PC) and Uncharted 1-3 on the new PS Now client with my PC. So, you are factually wrong that you need to be a PS4 owner to enjoy Uncharted and Tomb Raider.
You only need a PS4 for Uncharted 4.
I wonder how many people look at the differences here and think, "Gee, I need to go out and spend $1,000-2,000 on a new 4K TV, $400-600 for a new 4K Blu-ray player, and $400 on a PS4 Pro to get the whole 4K experience".
Yes, Mercury is the closest planet to the sun!
it was a legitimate jab. Just like Sony bragged about 1080p and giving gamers choice when PS4 launched. Those are not console wars. That is called marketing.
I never noticed any significant difference between 900p on X1 vs 1080p on PS4...
Now we are probably reversing the tables (Scorpio has not shipped yet)... Native 4K Scorpio vs up-scaled 4K on PS4...
I still doubt I will see a significant difference.
First, I did not pre-order it. "This was a must pre-order until...". No where did I say I had pre-ordered it.
Second, I never said that I would never buy Battlefield 1. I just stated that it was no longer pre-order material.
Third, Given the Battlefield track record of past modern games, the campaign missions are not very long at all. So, it is safe to assume that Battlefield 1 will be no different.
Fourth, Battlefield 1 is...
There are disclaimers and warnings on all VR accessories. Just like there are disclaimers and warnings on video games for epileptic seizures and such.
Personally, I find some FPS games with lower frame rates give me motion sickness so I can see some people having problems with VR.
I do think the tech is perfectly fine. And there will be people that can use it for hours, some that can't use it as much, and then others that just find they can't ...
This was a must pre-order until I found out the single player campaign only has five missions.
I love Battlefield multi-player, but I wish they would make campaigns that would be longer and more interesting.
Battlefield is a multi-player first, single player second type of game.
I bought my PS2 originally because it was a cheap DVD player, and then I bought a PS3 because it was the cheapest blu-ray player.
When you are on a electronics budget or where you live has limited space it makes a huge difference buying a single device with more then one purpose even if the user interface isn't as good or it doesn't have the features of high end devices.
Buying electronics ahead of time is not good. They devalue very quickly.
Why not just save your money this year and then on black Friday next year buy the PS4 Pro $100 cheaper and a cheap 4K TV with HDR.
