Nobody should be defending Sony on this.
I will say that Sony has the best console games on the planet.
But, cross-play is really the second to last barrier to people buying the console of their choice vs the console that meets most of their needs.
The last barrier is the stupidity around console exclusives. The console industry evolves around this and it is dumb. Whether it is Microsoft with Halo only on Windows/XB, Nintendo with Z...
@GTgamer
And how many of those were new announcements this year?
PS: The Last of Us and infamous are last generation PS3 IPs. Spider-man is an old IP with a new developer reboot... Sony did not invent Spider-man... It is a Marvel IP with games dating back to 1982.
In the same timeframe MS released Crackdown, Gears of War, Forza Horizon, State of Decay, and Halo Wars as new IPs.
I didn't see a lot of stunning VR support from Sony at E3. The product is less than a year old and it wasn't like they gave it complete support. They announced knew stuff but it wasn't exactly a hard sell or anything stunning at all.
New IPs? What new IPs? Shadow of Colossus is a remake and that was their biggest news from this conference. GT Sport looks like their biggest shipping game this year and GT has been around a long time. God of War is their big ...
I was able to complete Crackdown 1 in 15 minutes. That doesn't mean that it isn't a good game.
Like any open world game, you can just cut to the chase and get it done with.
But, if you want to do all the missions, and collectibles this will be many hours.
So Bungie is just being lazy... Not a shock.
I remember getting the original Crackdown simply because it gave me access to the Halo 3 beta. It ended up being one of my favourite games in the 360 generation.
I enjoyed Crackdown 2 but it just didn't stay in line with the vision I saw in Crackdown 1.
I hope Crackdown 3 recaptures the Crackdown vision and is just as fun!
XB is under different leadership now. It should be judged on their actions today. Not only on the actions of the past.
And by the way, Sony has become the money hatter now... They have marketing deals galore. And MS does have the money to do those deals. They are just choosing a different path now.
Translation:
We are selling the most consoles of any vendor to core gamers right now... Why do we need to cooperate with anyone?
As usual a vendor put an announcement in their press conference and 2+ years later we have yet to see it.
That's why I quit watching these conferences live. I get the info when I get it, and take it with a grain of salt. If you look back at the history of these conferences, unless a vendor specifies an exact ship date, next to nothing ships in the next year. These conferences are more about creating excitement then about telling gamers what is really happening on eac...
@TKCMuzzer
If you look at the history of my posts I have been stating this for years.
Consoles have essentially been monopolies. Once you buy one you are compelled to stay with it not because you want to necessarily, but because of private networks, achievement/trophy systems, friends' consoles, etc.
The day that I can buy any game on any platform and play with people on any network will be the day of hardware freedom for all console users. ...
I completely disagree that this doesn't matter.
Gamers should have the freedom to choose any platform they want. Whether it is Switch, PS, XB, PC, Mobile, Mac, etc. I should not have to buy the same platform as a friend in order to play with them. I should be able to buy any platform and the games work across platforms with whom I want to play. That way, platforms win on their merits rather than winning based on buying exclusivity deals and closing their networks.

Lack luster exclusives... OK... How was Sony PS4 Pros exclusives announcements better?
Play Anywhere... Ummmm that feature has been here for over a year. Not an E3 announcement.
Halo announcement... If MS says Halo or Gears people say, "not again" but when they don't hear them they say, "why not".
Going first... Order doesn't matter. Content does.
Price Point... It is expensive for a console but not too expensive. It is...
Nice to see this is a real remake and not just porting of the original to modern day. I am all for remakes like this!
@elda
So because playstation has 60 million in sales it is automatically the better console?
@snoopgg
So how many hours have you played in Crackdown? Since you are such an expert on it.
So, what epic exclusives did the PS4 Pro launch with last year?
So what top selling games are coming out as "VR First" games in the next year?
Maybe they aren't interested in VR because VR is not taking off like wild fire. I have always said that VR is good. I have also said it is more of a niche than a mainstream thing though. I don't see a reason for XB to rush into VR support until it becomes more mature and becomes more mainstream. By not selling me VR MS is saving me money right now.
There is not a single spec of the PS Pro that is better than Xbox One X so it is factually incorrect to say what it can do is minute compared to PS4 Pro. There is not a single thing the PS4 Pro can do better than Xbox One X.
As for interesting exclusives... Content is opinion not fact.
MS is shipping Forza Motorsports 7 and Crackdown 3 as the big first party exclusives for XOX. Sony launched PS4 Pro with Last Guardian. Forza continues to dominate raci...
I think $499 is a steep price for the new console personally. $399 would've made it a no brainer for me. But, $499 makes me think about it.
I will probably go ahead anyhow because Forza Motorsports and Crackdown are two of my favourite game IPs and they are both coming out in brand new 4K versions this year.
While I think VR is a good thing, I don't think its time is now.
I don't think any real gamer thinks that Sony's stance here is good.
Most, if not all of us have friends that have consoles different then our own. Being able to play with them in the same games is good for gamers without a doubt.
I don't see any argument to the contrary. And It is kind of funny Sony of all company's hiding behind security. Considering the history they have on being hacked.
