LOL. I have a ton of games free from their store, and never paid for one.
The only time I go in is to scoop the latest free games.
Ya, the difference that a few extra inches of console size can make.
Slims used to be important, but now-a-days I don't see them as nearly important as console fan noise.
I really like the DiRT franchise. Can't wait for this next iteration!
They are talking about more then just BC in the article. They talk about running next gen games on the older consoles, they talk about bringing your profiles forward, they talk about the importance of all the hardware improvements, and they talk about BC.
For me, BC is important and I play on PC. But, I look at a console as "Just another place where I play games". BC is important because I still have 100's of games in backlog. I want to play them but, I al...
Ya, I have thousands of meda between music, movies, and games. Even though I have the physical version I prefer digital because I don't have to get up and swap discs to switch anything.
I use the physical drive only really when I have to.
I have no problem that we went an entire generation with a new GTA game. I do have a problem that not only did we go a whole generation without a GTA, we also went a whole generation without a single new IP from Rockstar.
With modern AAA games theses kinds of differences are stupid. I looked at the differences and there was really no concern.
And in any case I would not say any games differences are probably intentional or misleading.... I would say the studios get overly ambitious as to what they can accomplish and then realize they have to re-allocate some graphical related processing to the gameplay itself. I work with development teams and know that most take their work very personally...
That is untrue.
Cross-buy and Smart Delivery have different requirements.
Cross-buy is a vary minimalist approach. You get multiple versions of the same game on different platforms. There could be no graphical improvements, there could be no cross-save, etc.
Smart Delivery requires that the game is built for the technical capabilities of the different platforms and that your saves are across all the platforms.
I am ...
July is about the first party games, not services.
Obviously want to see Halo Infinite. Need gameplay, story, and MP modes. Forza Motorsports 8 must be there given it was implied in the trailer announcement for XSX. As for Fable.... Nope.... I think that the RPG should be a brand new one with Playground free to create a whole new kind of RPG.
Other stuff I wanna see... Hellblade II, let's see some initial gameplay. Rare show Ever Wild gameplay,...
A good game is a good game.
Although important factors in a good game, framerate and resolution are not everything.
There is art style, story, sound, game play, and many other things that make up good games.
One thing they miss on the Digital side is the portability of the collection. I download my games to a hard drive and take the hard drive with me when I travel. Much easier then taking a binder of blu-rays/dvds.
Also, with digital i can assign a Home console on XB or Primary PS4, and other people can play my collection on that console without having discs.
Also a con on digital is the need for high speed internet.
Ya, one that is not based on a portal and toys...
Just a real game.
Sorry, I read their post, I don't see it saying they are going to deliver the next gen experience at the same time?
Or did I read that wrong?
@crazyCocunuts
I know what cross-save is and you are correct. But, what MS is doing here is mandating cross-save for Smart Delivery. Sony does not mandate it. I have bought several cross-buy games in the past and had to restart progression in each version.
@tontontam0
Comparing cross-save on PS4 and PS4 Pro with cross-save across a generational change is not the same thing. PS4 to PS4 Pro was a mid-generation upgrade. No real change in the game code, ...
Did you even look at the article. There were some very cool designs there.
UMA, Destiny, Halo, Bang & Olufsen, and Transformers were pretty cool consects.
So, if Microsoft announces the 200 mln selling Minecraft is free for XSX owners would that be a killer app?
Are these important IPs that will come to nextgen consoles? Absolutely... Would I call them killerapss? no.
@JEECE
The difference is that MS is mandating certain things to get to say your game is Smart Delivery. Sony just has cross-buy with no requirements.
Which games have cross-save with cross-buy anyhow? I should look at the cross-buy stuff, haven't in a while, because it seems it was just smaller games with the feature.
I think there is a lot of differences.
The level of detail and type of detail in the environment is different. Check out the shadows and amount of things all around.
Also, when they are side by side inside the tunnel you can see that GT7 uses ray tracing for lighting to make it more realistic. (0:57 mark of the video)
I do not think Smart Delivery is just cross-buy.
Microsoft has said that switching interchangeably between versions is an inherent part of Smart Delivery. So, I can play chapter one of a game on an old gen console then play chapter two on a next gen console and in each case my progress is carried between the different versions with one achievement list. My understanding (it has been a while since I have bought a cross-buy game on my PS4 - I think I bought Fl0wer with cros...
