The fact is that there are 110 mln PS4's and less then 50 mln XBO consoles.
People will start with, "Why should I switch?", and unless Sony massively screws up, PS4 owners won't. XB could ship with the best games, best services, best UI, best console, best controller, best network, and best long term games plan for the generation. That might sway 10% of gamers from buying a PS5. And vice versa of XB owners switching.

IT is concerning that the same gamers that talk about wanting new IPs all jump on the bandwagon of remasters, remixes, remakes, etc. The only reason these companies build them is they make money.
I am not at all against full remakes, where the upgrades are very dramatic. Updated graphics, updated gameplay, updated everything where they obviously built from the ground up. Bring them on!

By accepting it gamers are justifying it.
To me, any exclusive games timed or otherwise are bad for gamers. They do it to sell hardware but, what that does is encourage buying more then one console if you are willing to... That $499 or $399 extra console purchase could've went to 6-7 new games thereby fueling game development. Exclusives stifle the business case for more games.
GTA VI would be way more beneficial to gamers.
Microsoft has cash reserves in the $130+ billion range, they wouldn't even notice the purchase. Cost is not an issue there.
The problem is their value is driven off being multi-platform. If they get bought by a first party then they would likely drop the multi-platform and therefore not be as valuable.

$499 and $449 are the most likely prices for PS5. They might get aggressive with digital and go $399. but I think that is unlikely.

First, we don't know if there will be two versions XSX but my guess is yes but it is not formally confirmed.
Second, we don't know pricing at all yet. Not sure if Sony will go $100 cheaper for a all digital version. It might only be $50. MS was only able to take $50 off XBO S All Digital vs XBO S and the only difference is blu-ray. Sony may be able to do better but it is still up in the air.

I think the telltale here will be with Cyberpunk 2077. If gamers on PS5 have to re-buy the game on PS5 and XSX gamers get the game through Smart Delivery without having to pay a cent it becomes an important feature that can save gamers money.

Sony does limit cross-play and have on several occasions stopped cross-play for certain games across non-Sony Platforms.
Cross-buy is there and ready to use for sure but it is a little different then smart delivery. First, the game saves don't go across the versions, the games are completely separate in cross buy and you must re-progress in each version. Essentially the only reason they cancelled for last gen was around transitions that would create load times. With out the problem around load time transitions they would've kept past gen versions.
This was a specific thing they wanted in the next game, and only next gen could achieve it. There are many other games that may not be constrained by load time issues and therefore be able to ship on last gen consoles.

The way GamePass works. You don't have to buy the game, GamePass provides the game. For games with add-ons and microtransactions you still have to buy that stuff. The only thing on the list that harms gaming as far as I am concerned is exclusives. Because exclusives exclude gamers on other platforms from playing some really great games. Not everyone can afford more then one game platform. A gamer on only PS should not be punished because they can't play Switch, XB, or PC games. If I am a gamer I should be able to play every game. LOL. Microsoft gives GamePass subscribers discounts if you decide you want to buy the game and all its extras. I don't have any expectation that they would include all the extras in GamePass. I can choose to buy the extras separately as well, but have yet to do that for any game on GamePass.

I have been on GamePass pretty much since the start. Have not spent a single cent on DLC and micro-transactions and have played tons of games.
I have not seen anything in GamePass games that I don't see when you pay full price for the games.

To me, it is not consumer friendly period.
The console vendors benefit from every game sale made in royalties. Instead of money hatting certain games they should take the same money and equally highlight all games not just a select few. Let gamers decide what are the best games, not marketing.
I am the exact opposite. Really at this point it looks like there are only two real major launch games. Spider-man and Halo Infinite. Unless either one is miraculously something out of the "same" for these franchises I think I might wait a year.
New consoles are notorious for a first year drought after launch. So, waiting a year can save me money and I have a huge backlog anyhow.
