Does it not have the same problem that open world games tend to where one minute you're being told that Paulie has minutes left before getting his head cut off and you need to get down to the docks stat, yet 200 hours later you're idly fishing and thinking maybe it's time to do that Paulie quest?
It's not the quality of the storytelling it's the way that open world games approach it.
"Every year we take a look at what it cost and what we got out of it, and it seems to make sense for us. But even if it didn’t necessarily make sense, we would want to support the ESA"

To my knowledge there hasn't been an open world game yet that has nailed the story in comparison to a linear game. The nature of an open environment and the appeal of sidequests always kills the momentum of the main story.
I've put forward the idea before of making the main quest mandatory as the first thing you do and then setting you loose in the world while dealing with the consequences of the decisions you made. Letting you dip in and out doesn't work for m...
I can see why people think Horizon is trash because it does somewhat look it, but it's actually really fun with a banging soundtrack. Great little pick up and play game that I would recommend giving a try, especially if you like old school racers or games that are so fast it makes your eyes bleed.
What's the game in the thumbnail, is it Outlast 2?
It's all up in the air really but looking on the brightest possible side, meaning that the FF7 remake will be brilliant, it's a good template for future games. Mash up of ARPG and turn based combat in a semi open world setting.
It's not that interesting, 80% of gaming sites on here operate on that principle. Some of them dress it up as something more intellectual and some don't bother. It's how it is these days.
Almost too exciting.
"Thankfully, the remake has gone with a more modern 'twatting things with a massive sword' style of combat that feels much more in line with recent installments of the Final Fantasy series"
That's not at all reassuring to me seeing as I've not really enjoyed one since FF10. The basic combat looks decent actually but it's hardly a huge relief that they've gone down the mediocre button bashing route. Fortunately it has the ability to pause a...
That's true, I'm just pointlessly speculating based on the snippets of gameplay I've seen. You need to spend quality time with it don't you.
I think gameplay wise it'll be miles ahead but from what I've seen the writing and characters maybe not quite as good. Fully prepared to be wrong about the second part as it's too early to say.
I've got decent internet but every now and again it'll fade in and out. That would be unacceptable if it meant losing progress in a SP game. Until this is somehow fixed for the overwhelming majority of gamers on the planet I can't see how streaming will be the new standard.
That was my take on it too, if anything it's inclusive and not remotely phobic.
Even if it was then that wouldn't mean it shouldn't be in the game, if they want to include offensive things as part of the authentic warts and all game world then they should do so.
It's not that its a new genre to me, I just had the impression that they were struggling to polish the game in general to get it ready for release and it'd be bare bones compared to his older games. Glad to hear that's not the case.

I like the sound of all the depth and customisation, haven't heard much about it before.
Bad enough having to battle against the scripting in FIFA and PES but their insistence it's not in the game shows a lack of respect. I've been playing PES since ISS Deluxe on the SNES and I can read their games like a book.
I feel like a lot of previews that I've read don't see the big picture, they focus on the moment to moment gameplay and nitpick about it but they don't seem to realise what a massive game it's going to be.
I don't have any insider info but if it's going to be similar to TW3 in terms of the quality of the writing and the imagination put into quests, and the range of emotions it'll put you through, but with far slicker gameplay with more variety t...
Yeah it had its moments where it all came together nicely, usually against bosses, but for the most part the best thing I could say is it was workmanlike.
The balancing was off too, on Death March I'd trade blows with higher vampires and huge monsters but get one hit killed by a peasant with a pitchfork or a dwarf with a club hitting me in the shin.
Convoluted yes, wouldn't have it any other way.
Pretentious no, how do you figure that?
