The only time the game is "cheap" is if you accidentally run off a ledge somewhere, which you will probably do quite often at first. I'm not even sure if that's cheap though, because you will learn to easily avoid doing it.

Hmm, MGS4 is not first party, and Uncharted is. I would put Uncharted ahead of every game on that list except MGS4. Although as amazing as MGS4 is, if the person has never played the previous games, it would lose a lot of it's impact.
While Uncharted 2 will undoubtedly be the front runner for GOTY for me and many of the more respectable sites/mags, many will award it to Modern Warfare 2 simply based on hype, not because it deserves it. The same thing happened to so many sites giving GOTY to GTA4. It was a good game, but nowhere close to other games from last year, like MGS4, Fallout 3 and LBP (even GeoW2 and Fable 2 were better games).
Well, for most people, when something is free they find they want a lot of stuff. Stuff they just didn't want to have to pay for but would gladly accept. You say people have something wrong with them for saying that, but maybe they want something but can't afford the extra money or didn't feel it was worth $60 extra, but worth getting free.

Worgen for roleplayers? I hope they have a good explanation for them, since the Worgen are supposed to be evil beasts, or at least they were, but we know how WoW has made Blizzard care less and less about Warcraft's story and continuity. Worgen may be "cool" but is almost on the level of draenai in terms of just adding a race just for the sake of giving the faction something new.
While it doesn't defend or criticize the ps3 version, that FFXIV video is from the PC version, which will obviously be capable of better textures.
What Villiers said is right though, you can't hand pick a couple of pics and blanket the whole game with that level of graphical fidelity, for better or worse. I'm actually really excited about trying this one. It sounds very unique, which is something MMOs have been sorely lacking.

Hmm, it's been a long time since I beat FFVII, but I'm almost 100% positive the only way to beat the game in 20-25 hours is to open the disc tray (not possible on ps2 or 3) and skip the FMVs, talk to no NPCs and skip through dialogue as fast as possible, do absolutely zero sidequests and know exactly where you are going at all times. I don't want to call you a liar, but there is no way your were level 70 in that amount of time unless you used some type of cheat. If playing through the game ...

Persona 3 (not including FES content) and 4 were not 100 hours long, nowhere close, if you just play through the main storyline regularly. It takes about 60-70 hours, and can easily be done in 40 if you've played through it before (of course it will take a lot longer on hard mode, but every bit of that extra time is just grinding levels). Don't let me take anything away from them though, as they are what I consider two of the best RPGs in the last decade.

I personally thought that hard and crushing were just right in terms of difficulty. No, it's not DMC3 or Ninja Gaiden Sigma/Black, but that level of difficulty is very niche and most people don't like it. If you go to the site and enlarge the image, it's easy to see that's it's clearly an in-game shot, and it looks great. Whether it's a touched up image or not, we will have to wait and see, but I would say it's not.
Well, considering how adverse Kratos is with working with others, I have a feeling that finishing off the gods is only half the game, right before you go after the bigger, badder titans who are only using Kratos (at least that's how he will see it).
Hmm, I may very well be wrong, but I would assume Hades would be probably the 2nd to last boss, as he's probably the most important god left apart from Zeus and **possible spoiler** Athena (who won't show up). I don't see them showing pics of that fight, just like I wouldn't expect to see pics of the inevitable Zeus or titans fight, at least not yet.

@2.4 I'm very optimistic that TOR will be a great game, and probably what I'm looking forward to the most as well (in terms of MMOs), but we will be lucky to see it come out before 2011, so I know I'm definitely gonna give Aion a try as I don't see much else on the horizon, and it's a really good game.

While I'm sure there is a reason and I just don't know it, it really makes me wonder why in the world it has taken so long to get released in the US. Other than the game box and instruction manual, the Korean and Chinese versions of the game are 100% in English: voice acting, menus, subtitles, item names, everything. Taking a long time to localize it when all they need to change are the manual and cover.
