I can say I own all the games on the list, except Silent Hill (I've played/beat it, just don't own it). I will say, however, that I don't agree with a lot of the placements, but that, of course, is just my opinion.

For one, if they decided to include Final Fantasy Chronicles, I can't believe they don't include Final Fantasy Anthology. Sure, it has FFV which is mediocre compared to IV and VI-X, but it also has VI, which is the best FF there is, and nowadays the FF Anthology is a...

No, there is nothing negative in the article. He is just stating that with the translation, some assumptions people were apparently having about the two characters weren't accurate. For example, Stella, the girl, is apparently more like Rinoa from FFVIII rather than Aeris from FFVII (meaning she's not shy and seems more outgoing, unlike Aeris). Also, Noctis, the guy from the trailer, is not the usual introvert character like Cloud and Squall like most people assumed.

It's basi...

I have all the Disgaea games, and while they are certainly in depth games and I love them, I don't think they come close to FFT, of course, for me, nothing has. The original FFT had one of the best storylines of any game I've ever played (Disgaea storylines are quirky and fun, but far from amazing), and any RPG, be it strategy, JRPG, WRPG, Action-RPG, etc., the most important thing to me is storyline. FFT also had a great battle system and one of my favorite soundtracks of any game.

I was thinking the same thing (although not quite as angry about it =P ). If GOW 1 and 2 were gonna be put on a Blu-Ray disc, that would obviously mean you wouldn't need BC to play them, which would be the entire point of putting them on Blu-Ray, rather than a ps2 disc.

@6.1 Or maybe it's that while the game looks fun, it looks like the type of game that would be fun for a couple hours till you realize you are just repeating the same thing over an over. I'm not saying that's how it will be, it's just that so far, that is the major impression that I get.

Unlike Infamous, this game doesn't seem to be story driven, which would make the repetition that much more obvious with nothing to distract the player to that point.

However, with t...

The Shining Force series (1-3) was absolutely amazing, and other than Final Fantasy Tactics (the PS and PSP version, not the crappy DS games), I still think Shining Force 2 is the best SRPG there is. That being said, this doesn't look like it's a SRPG, especially considering it's an arcade game.

While the screenshots do look pretty cool, I'm not sure why they decided to make the game as anything other than a SRPG considering that's what fans of the series know it for. I would g...

Well, that's the good thing about this game, you can kill all kinds of people, but killing with electricity won't cause a lot of blood. So the game can be incredibly violent, but it won't have as much gore as if he used explosive fireballs or something of that nature. Due to a lack of blood and gore, they can still have many mature themes and keep the game at teen. Also, as was said, Uncharted was rated Teen, and it had plenty of "mature" themes and blood. None of it really affe...

I agree that FF6 is the best FF of them all (although FFT comes damn close), which is why I would much rather see it get a next-gen face lift if they feel they have to remake it. Just sad that it didn't/doesn't get the recognition that FFVII gets (don't get me wrong, it's a great game too).

About it being the best RPG (or game) of all time, for me that goes to Xenogears.

@2.1 There is a MASSIVE difference between attaining photo-realism with some type of hardware modeling (ie., the plane you mention) and attaining it with organics (such as people). Hardware modeling has been close to realism for a long time, and the actual models look real with the hard part being the lighting and textures, which is doable. However, the difference is that hardware modeling is modeling something that was built and manufactured in real life, making if far easier to replicate...

$500 including accessories. Please explain. If you are referring to an extra controller, I'm sorry, but that's silly to include in the price (which would still be $50 too much). The ps3 is not the 360, you aren't required to spend $100-200 on extra stuff to be able to get the full experience. This isn't a knock on the 360's gaming library, as I've enjoyed much of it.

@5.1 To be fair, no 360 game has reached 10 million yet either. Halo3 will, but it's just as plausible that no other 360 game will ever reach it as it is that no ps3 game ever will (although I would guess GT5 will when it gets released).

While of course you are welcome to your opinion, Spirits Within had no intelligible story, horrible animation when not using motion capture and the lip synch was bad, even for the Japanese track. Yes, the 3d modeling was really well done, but it was also massively budgeted and almost drove Square to bankruptcy (I don't remember the numbers, but it was several millions just spent on the main character's hair and animation).

I personally think everything about Advent Children was ...

@6.1 I know you are just having fun talking, but the Heavenly Sword would in no way be near as powerful as the Blade of Olympus, which Kratos already has.

Also, while Heavenly Sword is a great game, I wouldn't consider Nariko on the same playing field as Kratos and the gods/titans. This is what leads me to really despise the thought of co-op for story purposes. There is no single character in the God of War story that would be on equal footing with Kratos. Sure, there are c...

When going by review scores, it's generally accepted this way:

AAA = 90-99
AA = 80-89
A = 70-79

There is nothing lower than that, because who gives a crap about games that get <70 anyway, right? AAAA is for games with perfect scores. Of course, when using the "AAA" system for purposes of reviews, it will changed based off of the place doing the review. So that <70 game from one site, could be a AAA game from another. It's one of the...

To a certain extent I agree with you, if you are referring to Square Enix. They certainly haven't released any games that have amazing stories. However, Squaresoft still has some of the best storylines in the history of gaming, including Xenogears (my personal favorite), Final Fantasy VI-X, Final Fantasy Tactics, Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, and quite a few more (that's not to take anything away from the games you listed, as MGS definitely belongs with the best of them). Too bad Squaresof...

FFX was an amazing game, but sadly it was not made by Square Enix, it was made by Squaresoft. That is my problem with Squenix, they have yet to release an amazing game, in almost 6 years. Kingdom hearts would probably fit that profile, but it was made by Squaresoft. The sequel was made by Squenix, and while good, had nowhere near the impact, orginality, etc. that the first one had. Crisis Core is about the only game developed by Squenix that would come close to be consid...

Jeanne D'Arc is an awesome strategy RPG made by Level5. Also, if you've never played, or have played but loved it enough, Final Fantasy Tactics for the PSP is a superior version to the ps1 version, and it is, in my opinion, the greastest strategy RPG ever released. The first Disgaea was released on the PSP, it's kind of quirky, but a great in depth game, although it too is a strategy RPG.

So hopefully you like strategy rpgs, because the best JRPGs for the PS...

From what I've played so far, Eternal Sonata, Lost Odyssey and Valkyria Chronicles are all better than SO4. Of course, that's all opinion, and maybe you meant 360 only, in which case you can take off VC. Also, if by this generation you meant a time frame instead of systems, Persona 4 is much better than any other JRPG to come out in the last couple of years.

6181d ago 2 agree1 disagreeView comment

@1.6 Well, if you include the DS and PSP in this generation with the ps3/360 ones, then it's only fair to include the ps2 RPGs that have come out "this generation." If you do that, Persona 4 is so far ahead of the other JRPGs it's really no contest. That's not to say there haven't been some good ones, even on the next gen systems. VC, LO, Eternal Sonata have all been really good. I haven't played SO4 yet, but it seems like it would at least be worth a play through, even if not ...
