Can always tell an NIS game by looking at the characters' health bars. ;) (Etna with 111k health)

Can't wait for this game. Love the art style, as usual, and glad to see them finally give a go at 3D.

The game wasn't great but it's nowhere near as bad as some people try and make it out, but sadly, it's one of the best games they have released this generation that wasn't on a handheld. Just shows how much Squaresoft/Enix have fallen in the last 5 or so years.

Big thing RDR has over GTAIV is that it's actually a lot of fun. Review scores encompass countless possible reasons for the score given. A few bugs here and there (none of which I've seen playing for about 4-5 hours) does not detract from a game if it has enough good going for it. Also, since I haven't seen, or at least haven't noticed, any of the bugs people are claiming, it's quite possible that the reviewers never saw any of them either.

The Multip...

IHateYouFanboys

I read your reason for bringing up UC2, but it's not a valid one. Metacritic and any one or two individual sites (no matter what they are) being used to determine the quality of a game is stupid in the first place, but then spinning the information to suit your opinion is even more out of place. There are several sites that have given UC2 a higher score than RDR that are definitely not "sony fanboy" sites (which is silly, because, one, Sony has...

You just stated why Squenix is losing so much money and why the company has sucked for a long time now. They are too short sighted. They see a way to make a quick extra buck in a year, and completely segregate people by doing so and release mediocre-bad games multiple times, leading to a failed sense of quality that used to envelop everything Squaresoft (and to a lesser extent, Enix) released.

In the long run, Squenix is going to bankrupt themselves, or at least come clos...

While the ps3 has a ton of good games coming out and Squenix has given everyone a good reason to doubt their abilities as of late, I don't know how anyone can know at this point if FFvsXIII is gonna be better or worse than a game that's already released. Versus is being made by one of the only good directors still working for Squenix, so I'm willing to still give HIM the benefit of the doubt and keep track of the game, even if I'm no longer willing to do the same for the comp...

Xenogears is still my favorite game of all time (I liked the ending), but I don't think it should be on this list. Xenogears is not underrated, as many people love the game and it got a good critical reception (maybe not as good as it should have).

Also, the first Grandia was amazing, and out of the games on the list, it's my favorite.

I'm not really sure why Suikoden is on the list, especially if they are referring to both games. They sold pr...

If they were to remake it, they might want to change SOMETHING other than the graphics, like adding a storyline. I didn't like LoL simply because the storyline was horribly bland, as in Beyond the Beyond bland. Good battle system (for the time) though. I didn't hate the game or anything, and the second one was better, but I can't imagine them remaking the games. They didn't have big commercial or critical success.

Well, FFXIII may not have been the best game ever made, but it is, without a doubt, (on the ps3) the best looking RPG ever made. The game was beautiful, even if it did look even better before, in the demo. Although, I agree it wasn't on par with GoW3 or UC2, so I would like to see how much of a difference it would make if they kept the game exclusive.

Nomura may not have the final say on paper, but they sure don't want to make him mad. After all, SE has already lost a lot of the big developers that helped make their companies great, and as stupid as Wada has proven himself to be, I think he knows not to piss off the few big names he has left. Of course, that might be giving him too much credit.

I think the $20 from Amazon turns out to be a better deal, at least for me. For one, I rarely buy anything from ToysRUs, so I'm definitely not gonna sign up for a membership card. 2nd, free delivery, so that cancels out the 5 extra dollars from TRU when you include tax. 3rd, not real important, but you get gold weapon bonus from pre-ordering at Amazon, which is at least worth something. Last, and probably the biggest reason, I will be much more likely to use that $20 sometime soon fro...

I don't usually bother with this, but have you ever heard of punctuation and run-on sentences?

Wow, didn't expect to read that, I was looking for RS to say something more along the lines of:

"Red Dead Redemption is a mediocre open world game, and we decided to make a downgrade of GTAIV and focus more on DLC by looking to the future." - Rockstar

I think the game looks great, and I expect to enjoy it a lot, but seriously, how much merit do people think a hyped quote from the game's developer actually has?

Well, there's little doubt in my mind, and I'm sure many others, that Sony has the crown the last two years, at least in terms of games. Can't take a crown if you already own it.

I'm looking forward to this year's E3 from all companies (except Apple if they decide to show something...I just can't stand their philosophy of "cater to the masses" casual stuff...nothing against them for making tons of money, but not interesting to me). I expe...

I could see some sites giving GotY to Iron Man 2 as well...considering how bad some of them are. After all, Gametrailers gave GotY to COD:MW2 over UC2, AC2, Batman, DS, etc.

I'm not putting this website into that category or anything, because I know nothing about them one way or the other, just that GotY from individual sites can sometimes be meaningless, and it's better to look at overall consensus if someone, for some reason, is looking to awards to validate thei...

Neither AW or HR are likely to get any GotY awards. ME2 and GoW3 are proven franchises that released sequels with many improvements and have gained huge critical success. A game doesn't have to be a sequel/prequel to get GotY, obviously, but it does have to receive overwhelmingly amazing reviews. While HR and AW have both had their share of 9-9.5's, it's far from the average. (This doesn't signify my personal feelings, as some of my favorite games of all time didn't re...

Code Veronica is a really good one. Still have the Dreamcast version, and the ps2 version from the RE collection. Not sure I, personally, would consider it the best one (hard to best 2 and 4), but it's definitely near the top.

The Dreamcast was a great console that, sadly, didn't have a very long life. The only major thing it lacked was RPGs. I think it had two good RPGs: Skies of Arcadia (amazing game) and Phantasy Star Online (and the 2nd one, but never played i...

Super Mario Galaxy deserved all the scores it got. GTA4, definitely did not, and Halo 3, is a little on the iffy side (definitely not a 10, but maybe 9 for multiplayer).

I do agree that reviews aren't a great way to determine interest in a game. There are exceptions, of course. I would never buy a game that got average scores below 50%. Although, that being said, I've never been interested in a game 60-50% or lower before, anyway. Any game that gets all 90-100% I...

85 is a really good score, but "AAA" has two meanings. To developers, "AAA" is determined by how much money is spent on the game and/or how important it is to them. To gamers, the term "AAA" was made up for games that received an overall "A" ranking, which would be 90 or higher.

Whether or not Alan Wake is a "AAA" game to an individual is, of course, personal opinion (would require you to actually play the game, though). ...

@10.1 I would consider Dead Space a real survival horror game, and I thought it was better than Siren. I did enjoy Siren, however, and would welcome another one, but hopefully a retail game, as I'm not keen on "full size" games being released on PSN either.
