Haven't read anywhere that the 3DS tops the PSP graphics "by miles." Sure, it's a little better, being roughly equivalent to a Gamecube, but with 3D. Although, honestly, if it wasn't better graphically than the PSP, that would be almost pathetic, since it will have been out for almost 7 years when the 3DS is released.
Anyway, I'm slightly interested in the 3DS at the moment, but can't say I'm a big fan of handhe...
Money problems wouldn't work, since this is for store credit, not cash. If money problems are bad enough where the person has to trade in one system to get money for, say, games for another system, they shouldn't be spending it on gaming anyway.
Your other reasons make sense. Although, I can't see myself ever selling my ps3 for any reason other than your trading for newer model reason, except mine has BC, so not likely to get rid of it unless it breaks.
The art style of Ghibli shows through very strong with this game, especially the ps3 version. That makes this probably, what I would consider, the best looking RPG of this generation, at least from what we have seen. Everything looks so animated, even the buildings, which is what the good cell-shaded RPGs of the past didn't do all that well. Easily the best cell-shading I've ever seen, at least in a video game.
I will buy this game, no matter what. However, I just...
Yeah, especially for that hour they had their conference. ;)
I would agree that Nintendo won overall, but I don't like how most of these sites are acting as if they won by a landslide. Microsoft didn't put up much of a fight, but Sony had a lot of good things to show, and by far the biggest surprises (Twisted Metal and Portal 2, mainly), which is something they failed to have last year.
"...that offers more content than most of the titles mentioned on that list."
Fixed it for you. It would actually probably be more content than all the titles, except maybe FFXIII.
Yeah, I would put Peace Walker over Bayonetta, FFXIII (although I think I am one of the few that enjoyed it), and Bioshock 2. Of course, I would put Heavy Rain over those three as well. The top 4 I agree with (maybe not that order), and are all amazing games, and the...
Well, Demon's Souls is technically a JRPG, but when people think of "JRPG" they aren't gonna think of the gameplay of Demon's Souls. I guess the only real term that would work is "traditional JRPG." Demon's Souls is an amazing game, but when I think of JRPG's, I think of story driven games, something DS definitely is not.
I have no idea what he means, but maybe he's talking about Nomura being the artist behind FF7, which was by far the biggest RPG release for the ps1 at the time? I don't really know, Nomura definitely did not "give birth" to the ps1.
I thought I remember reading a long time ago that Versus was going to have a worldwide release date. Of course, that was over a year ago, and things could have changed since then (and I could have never seen it at all).
Either way, I think I can wait a little while longer for the release (but not too much longer), but I would really love to see some gameplay videos.
I think the big factor will be how good the actual game is. Have to remember than WoW is really the only MMORPG that has been really well received by critics.
Bioware does not release bad games, like Blizzard, so I have high hopes for TOR. If the game can get 2-4 million subs early on, and the game is actually good all the way through, word of mouth will massively affect those numbers (no pun intended). I know many WoW players that would love to play a different game but...
Eh, what? Where in the world did you get that SM64 is considered one of the worst? In my opinion, for Mario games, the top three are Super Mario Brothers 3, Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Galaxy 2. However, there are quite a few that would be really close and better than a lot of the games on this list (Super Mario World 1 and 2, first Galaxy and of course the first Super Mario Bros.).
My list would vary a lot from this one. While I don't agree with the list (especi...
Legacy of Kain...pff, screw that (not really, I like the series a lot), I want a new Gex game!
Not being 1920x1080 doesn't change the fact that GT5 looks vastly superior to any PC (and of course, console) racing game.
Great stuff. Have to say I like the Dragon Quest one the best.
@Ryudo You are correct that VII would draw the most money, but that's because VII had far more advertising and reached far more people.
Although not really relevant to their decision, the majority of people I know that have played all FF's, including myself, find FFVI to be the best in the series. The problem is that a lot of (at least a big chunk) the gamers now days have never played FFVI, or dismissed it because they tried to play it after playing VII and thought ...
There might be similarities. Not that it would be a bad thing. Loosely basing your storyline around one of the greatest works of literature of all time is probably not a horrible idea.
@sikbeta
I completely agree, but that doesn't change the fact that I really want to see both. ;)
Squenix as a whole has sucked this generation. However, Nomura is one of the few developers they still have that I have some faith in. Also, Squenix has not released one exclusive ps3 game, so it's impossible to know for sure if they would make a better game if they were limited less.
I also sincerely believe the game will lose content if it's restricted by going multiplatform. RPGs are very different from other game types. They usually contain far more locales, a...
@Newtype
No, it wasn't confirmed. The only thing about Demon's Souls 2 that was confirmed is that From Software has no intention of making it at this time. I would love for them to make it, sure, but that doesn't change the situation.
GTA4 definitely shouldn't be on a list as small as "top 5."
If they really feel the need for a multi-plat game (not sure why), I can think of several I would put over GTA4. RDR, Deadspace, Batman:AA and Assassin's Creed 2, just to name a few.
With that being said, however, I would include LBP, Infamous, Demon's Souls, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Heavy Rain, and Valkyria Chronicles just as likely as those multi-plats, but probabl...
Yeah, I remember back when FFXI came out, and people complained about it then. Sure, there were some racial differences, but other than those small factors, there was no need to have extra characters. Even if you did, it wouldn't be much more. Or, you can just play the human, which was usually the best choice anyway for most job combos.
I plan on trying out FFXIV and DCU Online. Both games look pretty good, and the complaints about online fees don't affect me, sin...
