@DarkOcelet:

Try being the operative word. ;)
What's funny is MS are trying to do what they can to copy Sony's last position, meanwhile Sony's studios continue to bring that level of experience, while also branching into new avenues with games like Horizon Zero Dawn.

SCE's developers just keep trying new things or to raise the bar within existing genres.

Rise of the Tomb Raider certainly doesn't seem on a par with ...

Killzone 3 and Shadow Fall both released 9 months after they were announced, announcing way early like that isn't Guerrilla's style.

Hell Bloodborne was a similar deal, announced at E3 2014 then it released this March, that was a completely new IP, only that was announced with CG and the behind closed doors footage of gameplay had worse performance than Horizon Zero Dawn.
It was also way more buggy, plus it lacked the level of visual sparkle that Horizon's...

@Josuey:

Uncharted and TLOU are not an example of single player, open world RPG titles with well over 20 hours, likely more than 100 hours worth of gameplay within that arena.

TLOU and Uncharted are both far shorter games than Horizon will be, so they're not an example of something like HZD.
The Witcher 3 is about as close to this from a gameplay scope and story depth POV, that certainly doesn't have room for an MP.

Whether So...

This is a game that most definitely doesn't need multiplayer, because it's centered around this one character, it's not a shooter either, but very much about exploring the world, learning the back story and understanding the ecosystems within.

The scale has been compared by legit insiders (like Shinobi602) to The Witcher 3 and that is a game that doesn't have MP.
GG have stated that there will be a social system for players to use, but they haven't...

There was no issue in making the last Tomb Raider run on PS3 and run well for a 7th gen version too.
Rise of the Tomb Raider uses the same game engine on the 360 as the last game, so there's really no issue, just time to get it working.

The real issue here is why should it take a full year to come to PS4, most likely the game's getting a full rework to better take advantage of PS4's hardware, in much the same way that the Definitive Edition was handled. <...

I would argue that Guerrilla Games & Polyphony Digital are on a similar level technically to Santa Monica and Naughty Dog.

As far as past 3rd person games go I think Santa Monica has taken the crown, although it's very close in outright quality.
PD even achieved almost full 1080p, with some visuals that aren't far off of some current gen racers released in 2013/14.
Hell GT6 even has better AA, AF and full weather, which Forza 5 didn't and the A...

Yeah PS4 is going to pull even further ahead as time goes on and Sony delivers on what they've been incubating behind closed doors.

Horizon Zero Dawn was just one of a bunch of new IPs that in-house developers and partners have been working on. Most of those have been in development for years.

Bend in particular have been working on something for about 3 years, with a full sized studio, so that should be ready to unveil either later this year or at E3 nex...

I definitely agree, frame rate being higher is great and all, but if it's not locked then go for the lower option and make it solid, with no judder, that can actually feel more fluid than an unlocked 60FPS target.

Frame pacing should always be smooth too.
TBH I'm happy Naughty Dog are using the resources they have to make things like Dynamic Physics happen in their set-pieces and throughout the game in general, it makes the overall experience much more believa...

343 have built the game for XB1, they'd already be using the most recent API available or failing that write the assembly code themselves for their engine.
The game would be running as well or better than DX12 would make it run.

DX12 isn't going to garner any better performance than XB1's most flagship, premium title.
This is Halo we're talking about, the biggest selling franchise Microsoft has, they're not going to hold back on this game. ...

Definitely agree on that, the Vita game was a BAFTA nominee, Unfolded has that game at it's core, reworked to take full advantage of PS4, with even more areas and overall content built in and around that game.

It's basically the 1st game, made even better, with a sequel in the same PS4 goodness package.

That game and Bloodborne are reason enough to buy a PS4 this year, but there's plenty more other games that are all also on this one system.

It definitely does need to be stable, but I doubt even running at 1152X810 (slightly better than 720p) this game will stay at a locked 60FPS, it's clearly an eSRAM issue, because a HD7770 with 1GB of GDDR5 and an i3 (CPU closest in performance to the 8 core Jaguar in use both X86 consoles) wouldn't have any problems running Halo 5 at a locked 60FPS at 900p with higher texture resolutions and denser particle counts, with dynamic physics in play, none of which is happening in this game ...

It is as big as Sean Murray says, it's a galaxy, with the potential for Hello Games to add another in the future if they really want or potentially that can add more things to the existing space, like points of interest inbetween the solar systems for people to explore.

The whole point of the game is for there to be no borders or boundaries within the whole space of that galaxy.
Of course is can be as big as it is, it's a procedurally generated galaxy, so no b...

The reason this game is being hyped is because it's quite literally an enormous expanse of space, on the scale of an entire massive galaxy, filled with an enormous variety of planets, moons, asteroids and stars to view.
For people to discover what is there, be it alien life, tech, structures, new materials or anything that could possibly be of value within this massive game.

If having that in a game is disappointing then this game isn't for those people that a...

The Last of Us is widely regarded as the greatest game of the last generation and it's sold massively well.
The game's world is ripe for more stories to be told, be it with Ellie and Joel together, individually or with other characters.

Naughty Dog are a studio that always attempts to push themselves with each new game and judging by how they're handling Uncharted 4 all of those positive new additions would be even more vastly expanded within the next Last...

Guerrilla's last 2 titles came out only 9 months after they were announced, plus Horizon is already running way better than Bloodborne was when that was shown behind closed doors at E3 2014.

We may very well get a new trailer, with some new gameplay shown the week of Gamescom or perhaps Guerrilla will wait until Paris Games Week, then announce a March release date at PSX, with even newer footage.
I'm highly doubtful this will be a Fall 2016 title, it was origi...

Rumors from Shinobi602 said it was initially meant to release in Fall 2015, but delays happened internally and some of the games features were still being prototyped up until pretty recently.

Also Guerrilla Games last 2 games came out 9 months after being announced, most likely Uncharted 4 could get brought forward to Feb and Horizon in March 2016.
Maybe if SCE wants Uncharted 4 to release in March then Horizon could get pushed to May and the game gets further improve...

Yeah I think fall 2017 is doable, ND probably has a small team fleshing out the setting and details for the next game right now and when Uncharted 4 ships they'll go into full production.

Say Uncharted 4 releases in March 2016, that means they go gold in Feb, if TLOU2 goes gold in October or November 2017 that means they would have 20-21 months of full development for that game, with all of the ground work and a fully optimized engine and the awesome tech they made for Un...

Tearaway Unfolded looks utterly amazing, huge game, with tonnes to do, in a highly unique and standout papery world.

God Dreams was phenomenal, I can't wait to see more of that at Paris Games Week, I mean it's so much more than just a game, you can literally make your dreams come to life, whether it's making a game, movie, art, music or anything inbetween.

It's amazing, yeah it's not coming for a while, but what that means is it's on i...

There's also Bloodborne, The Order, Tearaway Unfolded, Until Dawn, The Tomorrow Children, Fat Princess Adventures, Everybody's Gone to The Rapture, Disgaea 5 all throughout this year as full PS4 exclusives, along with the better running multiplats.
Sony can also surprise drop new announcements for interesting Fall titles close to when they are ready to begin marketing this year as well.

Judging by how much better Uncharted 4 looks now compared to the PSX demo it's definitely overtaken the initial target render of E3 2014.

I'd say Horizon already looks better than Uncharted 4 at the PSX reveal, although it does have a few pop-in issues, which is understandable given it's open world, the sheer draw distance involved and the fact it's only had a full sized team working on it for a year and a half.
I think Guerrilla Games mentioned the ch...
