Exactly, people would have a point bringing this up had Microsoft slayed it with announcements for new games, but they didn't announce anything new as an exclusive for XB1 at Gamescom, so how exactly did Microsoft gain any new ground with that event?

Sony had more announcements at E3 than MS did at a both their E3 conference and their Gamescom one.
No doubt Sony are going to reveal some new exclusive PS4 games at TGS (that's being held between September 17th a...

TBH the main thing Nintendo needs to get right is they need to make games or partner up with a bunch of external publishers to get exclusives that will sell well to the 3rd party crowd.
If they do that then they'll hook 3rd party market and get the multiplat sales from day one.

Hardware needs to be more capable than PS4, with Nintendo coming out with a beast, that's good value for money, £300/$350 for a 3TFlop machine would be doable in late 2016.

Yeah Frozen was really popular, you can guarantee a Frozen world will be a part of it, it's probably one of the most popular Disney movies of recent times, even more so than Tangled, which has been included too.

Seems pretty likely at this point, unless both KH3 and FFXV come out next year, then the FF7 Remake releases in 2017.

At their core Guerrilla Games were an excellent studio from the technical side of things, but they also already had great capabilities when it comes to gameplay and story, as others have stated already they have brought on board people that are highly capable and experienced in the narrative side of things and also in making open world games.

John Gonzalez is the lead narrative writer on this game, he previously worked on Fallout: New Vegas and Shadow of Mordor.

It could be because Tequila Works doesn't control what happens with the game.
It may be that Sony now owns it and they choose where it goes.

If this is the case then Sony won't put it on anything else if it was always meant to be a PS4 exclusive.
Sony aren't in a position where they have to put a game on anything besides their platform, because PS4 is going to sell more copies than pretty much any other platform.

I don't know about it becoming a full retail release, although I think it's been said that Sony are considering it.

As for "indie" status, part of being indie is about how you fund the game, if a major publisher puts up the cash to develop and publish the game then it's no longer an indie, this applies to Rime, WiLD, The Tomorrow Children and a few others (possibly No Man's Sky).

I think the reason there hasn't been much in the w...

NX Gamer on YouTube said something about Dreams being 60FPS (See his recent top 10 video), those visuals are very unique with the lack of Rasterization in use in favor of pure Compute Rendering by the Stream Processors.
I see the article mentioned that Dreams doesn't use Polygons, will be interesting to hear about their approach, PS4 certainly has fast enough memory for a Volumetric approach and the mods made to it's GPU would allow MM to make great use of the available GPU ti...

I'm sure there's at least some direction, especially when it comes to the decision on what ideas to eventually go with from a concept stage and gameplay features that support their new intellectual properties in development or when you're trying to evolve existing games to bring them to the next level.
It's bound to be the case that developers will ask for input from management and the internal development community at Sony just to make sure they're on the right tr...

@Garethvk: It's quite simple, Sony does what they want to, they showed up in an enormous way at E3 this year, they had their own conference last December, they had one at TGS and they were at Gamescom last year, but from what I recall MS didn't have one.

Sony covers more conferences every year and announces games at each, MS doesn't.

They said they felt Gamescom was too close to E3 this year.

As for MS showing up in a big way, how...

Agreed, Konami are disgusting, how they treat their staff, like they're living in some 3rd world country, with no Human Rights and they're trying to take recognition for this game coming into existence, when every gamer that actually has gaming in their blood knows it's only happening because of Kojima and his Team.

Kojima will take that spirit with him and he'll be hired in an instant to manage whatever studio he wants, any publisher worth their salt will giv...

Konami can try as hard as they like, but everyone knows this is Kojima and his Team's game, it'll never be Konami's and without Hideo they'll never make anything as great as this is going to be!!!!

Konami are a disgrace to the video games industry!!!

I can't agree with the comment of MS "being on their game".
They showed games that were announced at E3 last year and also QB which has been delayed repeatedly.
All of the gameplay they showed looked very boring and the conference presenters stuttered a tonne on stage.
MS didn't announce any new exclusives for XB1 at Gamescom, it was basically E3 2014 mark 2, minus Phantom Dust.

IMO MS should have canceled their conference at last E3 ...

It'd make sense if MS had actually bothered to announce any new exclusives for XB1, but no, they just used the same games they announced at E3 last year and also QB, which was announced back in 2013.

Sony announced more at E3 this year, 3 new IPs (Dreams, Horizon and RIGS), all made with gameplay, along with showing that The Last Guardian is also on it's way to PS4 next year.

Sony has Horizon details coming at E3, they have a conference at TGS, Paris ...

Guerrilla's last two games both came out only 9 months after they were announced, if anything this is going to release around March and Uncharted 4 will be brought forward to Feb.

Bare in mind that the behind closed doors footage of Bloodborne released around E3 last year didn't look anywhere near as good as Horizon does now and the performance of BB was much less stable than Horizon was.
Guerrilla said they'd begun developing a new IP back in August of 20...

I totally agree, I can't wait to explore this world and see what the game has to offer.
From what I understand the machines have evolved into those forms to fit the purpose of their function, so the potential for different varieties is only limited by what logically works in that frame and the potential for gameplay to deal with all of those varieties is quite astounding.

I can't wait to find out what the crafting system is like, to try making traps for machin...

Well they're building a full blown galaxy for people to explore, with tonnes of surprises, so big that you may never meet anyone else that's a human in your travels.

It's like the biggest game ever made and it's being done with no more than about 20 people at this point, unless Sony have sent coders and other studio staff from one of their 1st party studios to help out.

Most of the delay is probably because they have built digital probes to ba...

@Gen: So fitting!!!

@denawayne: The core reason that Playstation home consoles always sell within the top tier is the sheer amount of diversity in the line-up of games, Sony quite literally makes sure that the widest range of customers are catered for.

As much as people have knocked them Indie games are really appealing, because they fill the major gaps you see in exclusives. Everyone knows that AAA titles take some time and we don't have the AA or A that...

I'm talking about games actually being made internally.
