That's actually not very realistic, for one thing as a studio Naughty Dog only had like 80-100 staff at the beginning of the 7th gen, they have over 270 people working there now.
Second they have a very well optimized engine for PS4.
Thirdly they're drawing to the end of Nathan Drake's story, The Last of Us is already a fleshed out new franchise, with a single release in that new IP under their belt and they're now very familiar with the PS4, something that too...
Horizon has at least one flying machine shown at the end of the trailer, which Guerrilla calls the Stormbringer, you'd to look up at the sky to watch for those beasts.
There are also flying birds, which you may be required to hunt for food or other reasons.
Clouds can be useful to accurately deliver weather to the world, which could definitely have an effect on the behavior of the wildlife in the game, not just machines and how they gather resources they're se...
@Sonof: No those are not real time, they're pre-rendered, you can tell because there's absolutely no shimmer and the difference between gameplay and that is night and day, not the case for Uncharted 4.
When Halo 5 was having issues running solidly at 720p 60FPS, with visuals barely any better than Halo 4 you know it's rubbish when people claim such ridiculous things like the above trailer being real time.
Uncharted 4 blows Halo 5 gameplay out of the water....
@Foxtrot:
I just think we're at a point where in engine rendering should be quality enough to make the flow of cut scenes into gameplay seamless, it makes for a more smooth transition and is less jarring.
I'll give the game a try when I finally pick up an XB1 at some point (maybe next year), but I can't consider Halo 5 as a core reason to buy an XB1.
I'm going to miss the old banter of Chief and Cortana, that gave Halo 1-4 soul, the co...
Good quality trailer no doubt, but it's a shame it's all CG and not real time to properly flow into the game.
I totally agree with what you said about the squad based stuff.
Halo is best when it's about Chief and Cortana against the forces of the enemy or trying to discover the truth of some mystery.
It's fine when you have those moments of meeting up with Earth's forces because it gave contrast to the more lonely moments of past games.
Not sure about your opinions.
Looking at the page for the website for the game it doesn't say "A ##### ###### Game", it just says Black Hound, so I think it's a leap to assume Hideo is involved, even if those hidden letters and the statement was initially on the site and it got changed, it could easily be another developer who is involved.
We'll see in a couple of weeks I guess.
It's going to be a while before we find out what NX is, ...
Besides Horizon there was also Dreams from Media Molecule and RIGS from Guerrilla's Cambridge studio.
It's well known that Sony Bend are yet to announce their brand new IP, Japan have been rumored for some time to be working on a new IP that is comparable to Final Fantasy.
I think a while back Sony London were hiring for a new PS4 exclusive that could have been a new IP too.
We've also already Bloodborne and The Order 1886, along with Driveclub and...
@ShowanW:
Nothing I said was a lie, either you provide examples or it's actually you that's showing your outright bias of the platform your trying to defend.
Uncharted objectively shows it's animations are smoother, they're way more nuanced (this is the case for many PS4 exclusives compared to XB1).
I didn't argue that Uncharted was different at it's core, what I actually pointed out was that it's way deeper from a gameplay perspect...
@Persistantthug: You're correct in saying that GDDR5 is better by that degree for graphics, but I'd like to also add that at the clock speeds of DDR3 in XB1 and GDDR5 in PS4 for CPU related tasks both are comparable from a latency perspective, however with the added bandwidth and it's ability do simultaneous read and write GDDR5 is also substantially better for the CPU, it's just much more flexible and way less limiting for the kind fo tasks that each APU needs.
FYI in XB1 the GPU has to use both eSRAM and DDR3, otherwise developers would be limited to 32MBs of RAM for GPU compute (be it graphics or any non graphics related compute) and a full 8GBs for the CPU, which would be massively overkill even if you're talking about the most powerful of modern CPUs.
If the CPU and GPU use the bandwidth of GDDR5 then guess what it's a percentage division, like 25% to the CPU and 75% of that to the GPU, the overall bandwidth available st...
@Apex: Cerny said that by this time developers should start to utilize compute and it's been happening to a certain extent in games like The Order and Infamous, but it's still relatively early.
Dreams doesn't use polygons, it also doesn't use ROPs for rendering it's geometry, rather compute is being used for that.
The Tomorrow Children is also another example of compute in action, with it's lighting using compute.
Really though the majo...
This will be why the Gears 4 trailer looked so run of the mill Gears, I agree with Septic.
I think the issue is that The Coalition (much like 343) have way more limitations on hardware compared to PS4.
TC are trying to push for 60FPS and in order to get that they can't do anything but script the physics and make for this kind of linear experience which seems to be what the trailer shows Gears 4 to be.
Halo 4 is a similar affair.
Looking at...
They certainly have benefits of solid state access speeds compared to discs and no issues of data having to be read by the laser.
The cartridge would have data for your last save stored on it and that would definitely speed access to the game up.
Another awesome feature is that you wouldn't have to fill up the system's on board storage with game data, just leave that on the cartridge, even DLC could be put on the card, so if you wanted to sell it on then you can sell t...
So far for 2016 we have:
Uncharted 4, The Last Guardian, Horizon: Zero Dawn, Ratchet & Clank, Final Fantasy 15, Dishonered 2, The Division, Mirror's Edge: Catalyst, Doom, Homefront: The Revolution, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Mafia 3, Street Fighter 5 and Gran Turismo 7.
Hopefully Rime, WiLD and Alienation will be out next year too.
I'm not even counting everything, but personally I'm looking forward to all of these, what an awesome year...
I get a kind of Uncharted/Tomb Raider, with a smattering of Bloodborne/Souls in there.
I can definitely see what Namco and Nintendo are going for here and I think it could be the right thing for Nintendo.
Seriously Nintendo needs to try more new IPs like this, seems pretty fresh too me.
I think we'll probably get a new trailer at Paris that shows more story details, along with a release window, then at Playstation Experience we'll get something even more exciting, along with the release date.
Guerrilla seems like they're eager to tell more about their game and their most recent titles have been announced only 9 months before they were released.
I don't think Horizon will be any different.
That music definitely gives me a unique feeling, like a mixture of the feeling I got when I was waiting in line to see Jurassic Park 1 in the cinema and that Chrismas Eve excitement feeling of knowing you're going to get something amazing from those that love you!
When I think about the potential for taming those beasts to ride around the world, fight tribal wars, gather resources and craft ingenious new ways to take out my prey, learn the truth of why The Machines exist ...
@SmokingMonkey: I think Horizon is very likely coming before June, considering Guerrilla's history.
Unless the studio bucks their trend and it comes out in Feb (think The Order and Bloodborne style this year, Feb and March releases).
I don't think any of these games Sony has announced are Fall releases, I think those are going to be announced at the 3 conferences we have coming up.
The Last Guardian, Dreams, Uncharted, Ratchet, SFV are all Q1/2/3 games...
So true, especially with all of the features running together, in such a massive open world, with barely a frame dip.
Literally the only issues with the game right now are that there's some pretty glaring pop-in, but optimizing where assets stream in and when, so that this stuff is hidden from view will solve that problem or final optimization of the code and ironing out bugs should give the devs back more resources to do more with.
I can't wait to se...
It looks like someone else too me, blonde with very different facial features.
I like that visual style.
Kind of like a cross between Uncharted 4's visuals and Dreams from Media Molecule, with a bit of Dark Sorcerer in there.
If ND just focused on the visuals and kept the gameplay in the same ballpark as The Last of Us then I think that could be doable at 1080p 30fps on PS4.
No doubt ND would want to push for more physics features, added c...
