If they could just admit that the movement started with a few people angry at a female dev for copulating, and that it isn't the core of the group now, they could figure this out and get a real movement together. Not every group has to have a bright, happy origin story, it just needs to move on and do better things.
Many people joined GamerGate after the initial stuff happened for great reasons - ethics is a wonderful thing to discuss. However, you're already in an et...

Pronounce it with me now!
"PS4 fir-mahhh-ray two point oh three."
Spelling's a beast.
After the huge Twitch turnout for their e3 Smash stream on Twitch, I was hoping they would change their tune on streaming - thank goodness, because Smash continues to be a great tournament watch.
That's absolutely true. Say what you will about Origin, at least it runs most of the time. UPlay is still a mess, and they had the gall to think they'd actually survive outside of Steam for a bit.
Yeah, it looks like Xbox One was their lead, with PS4 getting a port. Especially since the other port, to PC, was a mess, that's pretty likely.
Also, it probably explains the 900p thing.
Actually no, not like VGX vs the VGAs, because both of those had SpikeTV as their host. It is un-Spiked now, they've pulled out of the event. This should remove some of the more focus-test-derived irrelevant marketing BS from past years, and throw out those random celebrity appearances which were obviously there for cross-promotion and not to enhance the event at all.
Will it be any good, a step in the right direction? Eh, we'll see. But it'll be about games, and ...
Sonic: Lost World is still priced about $29.94 over its actual value.
You don't have to wait for their store, it's already up. It's called uPlay, and it does its best to make sure "u" don't "Play" their games, what with its lapses in service, crashing, etc.
Seriously, what was with all the complaining this month? The past couple of months I get, but The Binding of Isaac Rebirth is amazing and day-one free to PS4 users. That's huge!
Do we finally have a video game based on the heart-ripping scene from Temple of Doom? "Kalim-baaaaaa!"
Actually, it's about ethics in GRPG journalism ;)
I'd imagine many feminists would disagree with these measures. When a woman's sexuality is expressed through one's own agency, instead of the lure of cash or a targeted male demographic, it shouldn't be hidden just because... values or something. There has to be a precedent. That's typically actual R-rated nudity, not a bra and shorts.
Agreed. It's definitely, like all semi-automated blocking processes, over the top. There's a line between not using the service for what it's meant for - streaming video games - and banning users based on their choice of clothing in their profile pictures, actual R-rated nudity aside. This measure really does fall on the bad side of self-expression via Twitch and reeks of their wide-scale block-any-copyrighted-song measures in VOD policy that encroached on the permissions given by...
Mind your P's and Q's, Pixel! (I loved the "900 P's" discussion on the Bombcast.)
I'm pretty glad that Insomniac, alongside nearly every big developer, is embracing vibrant colors again. It's been like thirteen straight years of drab neutral browns and greys, and now everything's all neon, orange, etc. - and look at this comment thread! Nearly unanimous support for this one! There's certainly a place for aesthetics among all the frames p...
Oh, this will help you wait if you give it a chance. There are tons of gamers out there who have put 100+ hours into the original, and understandably so - it's an immense game, and one of the first action games in what's now the current Roguelike explosion, with randomized rooms and a few permanent things to obtain. Now with actual controller support and a bit less Flash-esque style to it, I bet it's going to be on many a PS4 for years.
Man, I really want one of those regular-size ones with the Super Famicom-colored buttons. Hoping the US will see the same thing. This is probably my most shameless wanting of a product for a dumb reason ever, so... well played, Nintendo.
On podcasts with people who played it, it was pretty clear that it wasn't seen as straight-up male gaze, it was seen as Bayonetta being extremely sexually powerful, and the designers using anime-style male gaze angles either jokingly or to get the point across. It's not blatantly saying "THIS IS USUALLY NOT COOL," but I think they have a valid argument that they shouldn't have to do that in this specific case.
The consensus seemed to be something like &q...
Unless you're in the "objective" reviews camp, which really doesn't exist unless you've got robots in Polygon and not people, you would hope the reviewers would be able to express their own experiences through their reviews. That's honesty. Preserving that honesty is part of games journo ethics.
That said, even Jim Sterling loved it and was mostly fine with the presentation, so I wouldn't take Gies' review too much to heart unless you're ...
Australia is Australia. They've banned games for years without anyone's help. Nothing new. When criticism gets turned into policy, it's a shame, but criticism shouldn't be blamed for bad policy-making. The statement of a problem does not imply a particular solution inherently, and I bet Sarkeesian would rather that designers took those critiques into account than angry people running rampant over game sales post-creation.
