Yes, Link was basically one of the many 80's anime riffs on elves in the beginning (see: Record of Lodoss War), and his design is part of the canon. Since he's a parallel-worlds character that gets different iterations even within those worlds, though, having a young black female Link would open up new questions, and therefore new lore, on exactly what the Hero of Time really is.
That said, Nintendo will NEVER do this. A good amount of their marketing is based on nost...
Demos and in-game trailers are indeed weird. You just saw a cutscene that was most likely much more refined for e3 than the rest of the game - makes sense, since they want people to get a taste of what they're doing early on. The visuals *could* change as adjustments are made due to the mechanics and setpieces that are created later, but this is Naughty Dog here, not some chumps making an Ubisoft demo. I'm pretty certain they'll deliver well on their promises.
Also, Bravely Default...
Square was in upheaval a while ago, and they've now had their new CEO for a short while past that point. Good games take years to make, and FF15 is the end of a project that started not under his watch. Since then, they've assembled a cabal of people in their company to talk about what worked in Final Fantasy in the past, and where they want to take it next - FF15 isn't even a part of that discussion.
It's pretty logical to me that they haven't had much to...
Ohhh, umbasa...
It looks wonderful in motion on PC. Don't let the YouTube footage fool you, the 60fps smoothness really makes it look amazing. Not super-duper-particles-everywhe re detailed, but more like "This is what I thought a 3D RPG would look like in the far-flung future back in 1990."
We're announcing a Gears of War game for the Xbox One! There hasn't been a Gears of War game for the Xbox One! Promise delivered! Never been done before!
...lol
At that price, for ten-year-old tech, I think they're probably putting more money in their own coffers, not the other way around.
Hey, man! You never know when you're going to be playing low-framerate Titanfall in the middle of Siberia and need to hide your controller.
Arctic Camo! Because... uh... (because of our target demographic, that's why.)
Yeah, I was wondering why it took this long for someone to notice CSOTN2.
For that reason alone... I want this list to be real... But it makes sense! Konami's so frightened of making a mistake by bringing a legit Castlevania back - with the 3DS, they can do development on the cheap and produce a content-rich game.
Yeah, even as a kid I was like "Movies seem to run slowly... but the characters are moving fast, so it can't be that... Why can't they just move like they're in a video game?" My parents and friends were like "What the heck are you talking about?"
And then Battle Arena Toshinden 3 happened - yeah, the game was dumb, but you could change 30/60fps in the settings. The 60fps setting looked like a blocky mess on the PS1 (I mean, it was the PS1 aft...
I mostly agree, Kingthrash360, but as a gamer who's been around since the 8-bit days, <=30fps instead of 60fps could *definitely* be a dealbreaker for my purchase of a game, depending on the genre. I grew up with fast, twitchy, skill-based games, running as fast as basic pixels could be pushed around a screen, so for me, a racing game or a precise action game (ahem, Devil May Cry) should be running at 60, or usually it's no deal. That's way worse for me than a drop in resolutio...
Now THIS I can agree with completely. The JRPG fan world is looking at Persona 5 right now, not FFXV. The whole SMT universe is pretty unflinching toward modern trends, doing whatever the heck it wants, and Persona has done turn-based RPGs with amazing narratives for a while. I can't wait!!
@rlacorne
You'd be surprised how many people will look over the aesthetic issues if there's a great story and solid gameplay underneath it all. FFX-2, for example - no one in the States wanted a numbered sequel-sequel Charlie's Angels RPG, but we sure did love that battle system. Crisis Core, man... just... Crisis Core. Aw yeah.
Now, FFXIII had none of that. A great story with an equally great ending? "Serah!!" No. A meaningful, customiz...
Man, they really need to make a newer-gen DQ single-player game. DQ8 was amazing...
I mean, I get that they work pretty lean over there, and the amount of work it would take to make a new big DQ game would be astronomical, but that's where a console developer should be throwing its cash. Make it exclusive and help them make a gigantic Dragon Quest game... not another MMO.
They had a huge war chest full of the money the Wii and DS printed out over a decade or so. This is pretty much the last time they can take such big risks if something doesn't succeed, so it'll be interesting to see what they're up to...
I had no idea that Midnight Club LA existed, that sounds like a great deal. Anyone play that?
I'm going to make a really weird guess here and say that Nintendo's about to release a new-generation handheld instead of a newly-designed 3DS. One that doesn't have crazy graphics hardware, but enough that the resolution on the main screen can run around the resolution of your average 2014 smartphone. Backwards-compatible with DS and 3DS games, uprezzed through some sort of software-based filters.
With the resolution kicked up, suddenly you get the opportunity t...
Euro Truck Simulator is the best dad simulator. If you're a trucker with a kid, at least. Too bad that's not on consoles yet...
I guess Goat Simulator's the best if you're a dad and also a goat.
She's absolutely right about the genre thing - sometimes we want to play the same thing, sometimes we don't get why the other actually likes a particular game at all, but the hard truth is there's only ONE television - someone had better have a good book on hand or at least an iPad.
