He's right though, that's a super old-school thing to do. Because they're a big company and not a small store, they can't bow to their patrons at purchase, so they would bow to them all at a distance, which is really nice. It's not necessarily a change at Konami that brought about them not doing it anymore, it's really just the times.
Yeah, he didn't address the F2P comments. I mean, that is the gigantic elephant in the room and... nothing? Not even a broad acknowledgment that he's prioritizing good design over exploitative monetization?
Who's doing that soundtrack?? Sounds great!
Hmph. I don't like any measures that deny the public use of completely harmless information, but I get that it's a consumer product and they want to make sure it has value and is enjoyed the way it's supposed to be enjoyed.
It's a business move that sucks and makes sense at the same time, because Until Dawn is a bit of a choose-your-own-adventure movie, but the practice of shutting down game streams at launch gets rid of one great way to evaluate whether or n...
It's "Walk the Dinosaur," Yahtzee! Come on now, study up on your Was Not Was. Boom, boom, acka-lacka-lacka-boom.
Frederator, though! Those guys have been great! I'm very cautiously optimistic.
Lol. Fable Legends. Have fun, Lionhead, I'll be over here not caring.
That's the Devil's Fourth, Kotaku! It's only two notes, with a tritone as the interval.
What's with the God of War comparisons, anyway? You don't see GoW3's framerate dropping off the face of the earth, now do you? Part of the quality of a remaster is the actual remastering...
Every outlet's different, dude. GB doesn't collectively decide on a review score - it's author by author, and they're hired and brought in because they're all trusted to do their own thing. Jeff reviewed this and Dan reviewed GoW.
We're reaching a pretty logical conclusion here. GB does rely on its reviewers to do their own thing with scores and opinions - you know what happened with Kane and Lynch 2, and that's why.
I think it's pretty clear from reading most reviews that if you really want your Gears of War 1, you'll love this, and if you think it doesn't hold up, nothing in the remaster changes what was originally here. I mean, if this were remastered Crackdown 1, it would probab...
Well, the F2P shooter landscape really hasn't had its killer app yet. Blacklight is nice, TF2 is a very specific kind of thing, and many of the prospective entries in the genre are MOBA-izing their stuff. If he can bring a level of polish to the aesthetics and gameplay that no one else can keep up with, maybe this is the game that validates F2P shooters as a good thing.
I mean, we've seen a ton of Frogger ripoffs over the years and most have completely sucked, but Cro...
Not surprised to see Rapture this high on the list, it being a UK game and all. Galak-Z with an 8, though, that's great!
Hmm. Where are you seeing that? http://www.eurogamer.net/ar...
LOL, the Hamster Arcade Archives games are 10% off! Joy!
Binding of Isaac, Hotline Miami, Jamestown, and Rogue Legacy are all super-worth it if you haven't played them yet.
Yeah, he's saying that the game - in some of its features - is designed in such a way that the player has to wait unless they pay more. It's the multiplayer, so I really don't care at all, but that's exactly the problem. A game should be designed in such a way that players get interested and participate in things they're not used to. I should uniquely want to enjoy this multiplayer due to how it's designed. The "optional" microtransactions affect how the whol...
I think he'll be fine with a game like this. If he jumped into MGS2 or something, he'd be really lost, but I bet this game plays so differently (and relies on the story so much less) that he'll be able to judge it on its content if he feels like it.
After all, it's not like he's gonna scream "4 hours!!!" here. Maybe he'll have Corporate Commander be Konami throwing Kojima out.
From reading the review, I feel like this writer saw it as a cliche that was out of place. Kinda like if you saw a new cop movie that really immersed you in its unique world, only to suddenly hear from the main cop that he's one day away from retirement, and hear the villain say "We're not so different, you and I," word for word. It's like "oh great, here we go again with the compulsory butt shot" or whatever.
That said, MGS is a franchise feat...
Cool. They've been pretty great with site-to-store lately, too. It's how I got my New 3DS back when they were in short supply.
IGN themselves said that no game is perfect and their score didn't mean "perfect" in the first place. People have been arguing about this since Metacritic happened.
He mentions Titanfall, which is a completely different thing because it's primarily an online multiplayer game, which means the community and the updates bring a level of quality or not-quality to the experience. He is at least right that Titanfall (along with Splatoon) indicates that not *all* ...
