It's RPS, so it's worth reading it. It's a firsthand account of a guy who's actually getting sucked in to the FOB system quite a bit.
I've disconnected MGSV from the get-go - I can't stand most multiplayer and their servers were making everything so slow. It's just interesting to hear about someone who's fallen into that loop.
The alt source also lists Unmechanical Extended. I've never played Unmechanical and I really wanted to, so hooray!
Very big missed opportunity to have a scary or gothic-style game for free this month, though. I mean, come on. Revelations 2, for example!
Yes, just imagine what the interface would look like without a touchscreen-hybrid controller. Good idea. ;)
It's time they made some news happen around the next game in the series, because while it has its fans, it doesn't seem to be picking up many *new* fans yet. Bringing a bit of Talos to it should gather interest outside of the old-school shooter community.
You've gotta listen to the tapes the way you'd listen to codec conversations - it's best when you're in the AAC without any distractions. It's kinda Dark Souls-y in how it tells a story through a bunch of weird, incomplete threads...
...but dang it, Konami, why did you cut that last mission out...
Wow! This list takes some guts to post. I want to see the full thing for their justifications. DS as number 1 actually makes sense. It's at least my favorite in years...
Still, lots of really new games on here. Not sure if it's a proximity-bias issue, but it's nice to see Splatoon.
This is a pretty Sterling comment, if you catch my drift.
They really need to remake 4... Even if it's just having a version of it without the loading times and weird installs (thanks a lot, old-gen PSN!). That ending fight sure could use some work, too.
I'd agree with that in a way. It seems like Kojima offloaded a lot of the creative work on others for the project, as he definitely did for MGS IV's very different chapters. Beyond the fact that it's an open-world game, there's a surprising lack of technology besides the Giant Anime Robot going on (or is there? I haven't gone past the Fake Ending, after all).
"We go with the current highest bidder" is certainly a sound business move. That money translates to staff time - artists, programmers, etc, and it helps to make the game better. It's why console exclusives can be so, so good.
I'm more miffed at Sony for not making a move in negotiations, though. They're supposed to stick out as the Japanese current-gen console with as many Japanese 3rd-party games as possible - games like Okami and Devil May Cry (sigh ...
It could very well be a good game, but it won't have the same feel without the same director and producer - see Dark Souls II as opposed to Demon's Souls, DS I, and Bloodborne - great mechanics, better PVP, 60fps, but the atmosphere just wasn't there.
He's suggesting a Peter Pan-style female casting for a male character, which makes enough sense, as the somewhat delicate facial features and flowing blond hair of Link (and a zillion anime/manga characters) do not necessarily translate well with European or US male actors.
Either way, considering how botched videogame movies have been, the only way is up from here. You can't out-bad Uwe Boll or Pixels, after all.
I've witnessed Mario Mario and Luigi Mario gracing the silver screen with a human Bowser who tries to order a pizza, so a female Link on camera doesn't faze me in the least.
Honestly, I'm anticipating a female Ganon in whatever format, not a female Link. That would be awesome.
It started with XII, and it was due to cost underestimation and a complete lack of management. XII went through three directors before it finally got released, and you can quickly tell if you get about halfway through the game. The battle system and Gambits were so good, especially in the Zodiac edition! The plot, not so much. In fact, I can't stand XII because in a way, it's good, but it breaks so many of its promises where it could have been so much better:

Man. I really wish the PS4 actually played PS1 games - just seeing the name "Suikoden" makes me want to go play it.
I feel like a lot of those guys are in Housemarque now, but I could be wrong. THOSE guys don't miss a launch either, and like Liverpool, they plan out the game's creation with limitations in mind and are therefore able to deliver on time, albeit with a cheaper game.
Pretty much this right here. I really feel like any re-release of FFXII needs some additional content or even just sidequests that expand the lore.
It's the second half that seemed to lack that narrative oomph, along with a smaller second town even though it was the capital and talked up the whole time, a lackluster airship that did less than Teleport Stones (after a story filled with airships!), and a sudden "Hey, go to the final stage" leap in the plot. The fi...
Go BRex! Loved seeing his Spelunky runs, too.
Yeah, it's an effective set-top box that can play some games. "Effective" takes it out of Ouya territory immediately!
Seriously, good Apple TVs are needed. SmartTV setups, kinda like the Ouya, are absolute dog-crap most of the time, and their components can hardly hold up under their own updates. For those of us who don't have a PS4 or a PC connected to the TV, a good set-top box is a super upgrade for otherwise fine TVs. Especially for cord-cutters.

Yes, definitely this, although I'd argue that music has been super important through Sunshine, Galaxy & 2, and Super Mario 3D Land/World. Sunshine in particular needed a completely different vibe to fit the weird tropical setting, and I think they pulled it off well.
