I mean, in their defense, that applies to the entirety of Angry People on the Internet, too.
Yes, I love the actual DOA series - people don't talk nearly enough about how good a fighting system that is! It's very accessible to casual fighting game fans.
The panic about DOAX3 was brought about due to one employee's post, and that panic was within the anti-social justice online community. Most people concerned with social justice in games were like "This game wasn't popular to begin with, it's a sales move," or "Who cares about this game anymore?"
I'm mostly in the middle in that whole ongoing clash, but I don't mind DOAX3 existing. A friend of mine loves DOAX2 because it's just tha...
I hope it's great too, but long development times over multiple console generations aren't always good. Just look at Duke Nukem Forever, Too Human, or FFXIII.
Yes, it's Rockstar, so you figure they wouldn't release some sort of Development Hell monstrosity like those three above, but an abundance of development time doesn't always mean quality regardless.
He has to be careful because he works for someone, but what he's saying between the lines here is "All these deals were made over my head. I was given a team by the people who pay me, we were given a budget, and we made a good game in response. My team's good. You wanna talk about crappy sales, ask our boss, or ask that guy's boss."
I get it. Putting this as a one-year delayed exclusive on XBone was probably a bad business deal that neither MS or Square ...
The E3 demo was running at 30, and that type of thing doesn't get decided right at the end. As Naughty Dog tends to do, they'll push the system really hard in the visual department, and on current-gen that probably means it'll need to be at 30fps.
Leftovers from the console wars of old aside, it's a real shame that Avalanche couldn't take a look at the game they were building and realize that optimization should take a huge priority over screenshots. JC3 has you moving really quickly through combining the grapple and the wingsuit, over a vivid, detailed set of islands with quite a bit of height to them. That motion at 60fps is brilliant. At 30 it's less so, and with drops every time there's action (in JC action usually ...
Yes, but it's possible that hiring won't be necessary. They're really getting their bearings with the way both Splatoon (which you mentioned) and Super Mario Maker have been marketed. I'm guessing that, just like with the console, a newer overall marketing strategy is in the works by these guys and we'll see the new look for Nintendo in ads by the end of next year.
Hmm. I think this makes sense, in a way - they're going to rely on reviews and word-of-mouth. If reviews are high enough, it'll hit bigger outlets that gamers see and visit. If it's talked about a lot, you'll see streamers jumping on board.
But a game like this isn't easy to convey in mass marketing to gamers who aren't big JRPG fans already. They'll need outside assurance, such as reviews and testimonials from friends, in order to assure that thi...
Half of the games you listed are third-party franchises, and most of those were created by studios which are now on their last legs (Irem, Konami, Tecmo, Rare) or completely defunct (Shiny).
Relations between Square Enix and Nintendo have only looked optimistic very recently, and Square can't stop throwing tons of money at a game and therefore can't stop trying to maximize sales on all systems (and therefore they went next-gen), so there was no way a new numbered Fina...
And yet Code: Veronica gets no love. Shameful!
I loved the original Valkyria Chronicles, and I had the same impression with these screenshots. It's possible that they're taking a bigger action focus with this game, hence the big differences in the title - no "Chronicles," no "4."
Note the yellow lock-on mechanism while wielding a bladed weapon, the lack of a HUD with statistics. Contrast that with the screenshots of the HD remake right below them. It's probably a very different game than wh...
Lol, I guess I'm the "trying too hard" type, but reviving teammates is pretty crucial in some of those strikes.
Wait, is this American $, or is Htogaming from a different country? Maybe $60 isn't usual there...?
Nintendo seems to be making favorable deals with companies. For example, they got Capcom to have Ryu already, and I bet they have some sort of very easy way to arrange for outside IP in Smash by now with that ballot happening.
Those are very different arrangements. The PlayStation was originally a joint project between Sony and Nintendo, and a sour legal battle split the two up. Rare was a second-party to Nintendo when Goldeneye was created. Sony and Square, on the other hand, sorted out who owned the intellectual property to the Final Fantasy series upon writing the dang contract. Typical third-party arrangement.
Also, Square has been putting Cloud on iOS games for years. They put FF7 on the PC sh...
I used to when I had a fold-out keyboard on my Android phone, but oh man, virtual buttons can be hideous on those emulators, and while I'd love to just be able to whip out a controller at any point in the day, that's not in the cards. It's a problem across the board, but especially a problem for games where mobile would never have been taken into account.
I definitely have an iPhone due to game releases. Some of the more daring developers out there publish on iOS first, because a portion of their people are still willing to actually pay for premium games.
For example, it took forever for Vlambeer (Super Crate Box, Nuclear Throne, etc.) to move Ridiculous Fishing over to Android, and that's one of my favorite games. Downwell is a wonderful experience on both PC and phone, and the one dev is targeting Android next, but agai...
I agree. If it were any other company - almost - then yes, they would have been *more* burned for it than they already have been, but that isn't because someone in Bethesda is colluding with the press. It's because the content Bethesda produces within that hitchy, glitchy world is interesting and plentiful.
Take Halo 5 for example. 60FPS! Who doesn't love 60FPS, after all? But what if it had the same framerate and texture issues Fallout 4 had? It wouldn't be a...
Regulations, people. PEGI and ESRB are far from SJWs. They're industry groups that self-police in the hopes that government won't step in to regulate further. They're rooted in the Motion Picture Association of America, originally a Catholic organization which enforced Catholic values. It's not "sex objectifies" like feminism, it's "sex is scary! Think of the children!" in conservative Christianity.
I get it, with that whole weird DOA3...
