Perhaps if they made fewer games but better ones people would likely hold onto them longer. Gamestop makes most of their money from the used market so obviously that's a lot of money exchanging hands that these publishers/developers don't get to see.
It's not an easy fix like the article mentions. Eventually all games will be bought online and the used market won't be as much of an issue because those games will be tied to your account.

So instead of actually answering you decide to keep attacking? Very mature.
"Why is it off-topic? Well for one, it's not about Sony so your fanboyism is showing."
My fanboyism is showing? How can someone have fanboyism for pointing out something you're so afraid of admitting? Wouldn't someone who keeps dodging and deflecting be the one who is the fanboy? You also said Bethesda (and other developers). Sony has development teams.
...
Yet you keep ignoring the question. How is it off-topic? Sony, like EA, like Bethesda and many others are trying to off-set losses brought on by the used market.
It's amazing to see someone deflect so much because of their inability to ever criticize Sony.
ApolloTheBoss,
"What?? If Sony sets the price at $250 or less expect absolute fukken annihilation next gen."
For who, Sony? Why would a company in as much financial crisis as Sony want to come out with the PS4 that cost the same as the Vita and take that much of a loss per unit?
I have serious doubts Sony can price it at $299. It would be great if they could but seeing as how they can't really afford to even drop the Vita and the PS3 is ...
I agree, it looks stupid. I would rather set a budget and buy the biggest monitor I could with it.
If Bethesda is making stuff up then why does Sony have online passes in all of their internal games now?
Microsoft sure improved the controller. The Duke was terrible. I also disliked the Dreamcast controller, it just felt cheap. Sony needs to update theirs, there's no reason to have the d pad be the primary position and the sticks do feel very loose. It's why shooter games don't feel right.
" or it completely blinds you because of jealousy, envy, hate, denial to the point it makes you numb and dumb. "
That sounds very mature. So let me get this straight, someone challenges developers to not put resources into linear gameplay and essentially wallpaper backgrounds and your response is he's dumb, is full of hate and jealous. Ask yourself this, why are you getting so defensive over a video game? It's an opinion piece yet you're acting like a ch...
Nobody is over-reacting, at least I'm not. What I am saying is these hiccups if you will makes an always on system seem very risky for a game console. When you pay $15 a month to play Onlive or watch Netflix movies that's one thing but paying $400 for a system plus all the software will annoy people a lot more if they can't access it. Even if it's a few hours or a few days.
You mention Rockstar but neglected to tell us how it was better on the PC. Imagine how the next MGS game would have been if it were exclusive to the PC platform and not the PS3 and Xbox 360. Or even GTA V.
It's always amusing seeing console fans argue with one another about power when the PC actually shows the difference. It's like watching car enthusiasts argue about Ford versus Chevy products while ignoring the luxury cars like Porsche and Ferrari.

This is why having Major Nelson is also a key component to Xbox Live. It feels very much a community with lots of feedback. With that said this was perfect timing as all the rumors are still floating around about the next Xbox requiring a constant connection. This just exacerbates the issue of how things can go haywire at any time and having a system whos basic function requires being connected can be a bad thing.
Just imagine when we all do our banking online and there are n...
Well it's probably Adam Worth for being let go.
I'm hoping Polyphony has been working on the new hardware for quite some time now. Can't wait to see GT6 in 1080p and 60fps.
EA is still one of the largest publishers out there and Ubisoft doesn't really do racing games and sports. Tell that to Sega back in the day when Dreamcast was around.
Good question. This is the problem with consoles, the backwards support isn't very good and doesn't look to be getting any better. At least not on the PS4, we haven't heard any confirmation for the next Xbox yet. The Wii U supports Wii games. This is where a service like Steam shines. I can build a brand new computer tomorrow and all of my games can be transferred over. If any of my current games struggle or I have to set the settings down for a good frame rate I can build a bette...
So far Sony has been hitting all the right notes and fixing any issues they had on the PS3. If they can price it competitively, have new IP's at launch and not delay the system to 2014 in certain areas it looks like they have a winner on their hands.
The Wii U outside of a few titles really hasn't impressed me much. I'm sure we'll see some great titles at E3 but once again Nintendo doesn't know how to space their big titles out or have firm release dates....
It's because people panic and over-react. A lot of games have server issues at first because they sometimes don't know how it's going to be received by the public. You can do internal testing but if millions of people are all trying to play at once it could severely handicap the servers. Do you hear about SimCity anymore having issues? Are people playing it and enjoying it now?
I understand the frustration. I also understand that once we head down this road there ...
Outside of a few key titles like Kinect Sports and Dance Central the Kinect device hasn't really shown to be a good adversary to gaming. Where it can be utilized better is by supporting the controller. Games that could benefit from certain motion commands and voice recognition.
The first incarnation of Kinect was limited due to it's resolution, points of interaction and response time. There is no way a game like Virtua Fighter would be even playable with it. The count...

"PS3 was hated for making people buy all the bells and whistles.
It's funny how the situation changes."
You're right, the PS2 cost the same as the original Xbox ($299) and the Xbox had more bells and whistles. Then the Xbox 360 came out for $299 without a hard drive and $399 with one while the PS3 came out for $499 and $599 but included a bluray drive. Now it looks like the PS4 will all come out with a hard drive with no ...
Nintendo is publishing the title which means the game will get decent marketing.
