Microsoft never changed the name (of the upcoming system) because it was never publicly announced to begin with.
I doubt it will be called Xbox 8 since Windows comes out every few years unlike consoles which last on average 5 or more years. I also doubt it will be Xbox 720, then what's the next system after that going to be, Xbox 1440? They won't called it simply Xbox either since that was what the original was. It might be Xbox Next but that doesn't have a very g...
1. I like it
2. this is true as the controller is very clunky to use for text
3. That could be distracting while playing
4. Kind of like the DS and its dual screens. Could have lots of potential.
5. You risk the distraction while playing and having to constantly look at both screens.
6. Those Google Glasses would do a much better job. I can't imagine having my buttery hands all over my tablet while making popcorn so I don't have to pause it for ...
It will but it also risks of being short lived until Sony and Microsoft come out with new systems. I think many gamers are still quite happy with the content coming out on existing platforms, and while the Wii U does look very intriguing, they may just skip the Wii U until they see what the next systems are going to be like.
The only way Halo will stop, or any other long lasting franchise, is if people stop buying it. Halo is just too big to ignore, it's really that simple. The good thing is the quality hasn't really suffered all that much.
I'd like the series to take a bit of a break. I'd also like Microsoft invest in other franchises, new ones, and give them lots of marketing and a large budget. They can always go back to Halo later on and it would still sell. That won't hap...
You're right, we will likely continue to see these things and probably more.
From the list
1. Controller Gimmicks
Hopefully they will no longer be classified as gimmicks and actually enhance the gameplay. The trend going forward seems to be multiple screens like the Wii U and Smartglass. Sony is already advertising Vita and PS3 combinations.
What we don't need is everyone trying to jump onboard and flood the market. If it wor...
Retail prices will be the same. The difference being is sites like Amazon have sales and they may not include Wii U games just yet. It's also not really comparable to have Mass Effect 3 on there when it hasn't been released yet on the Wii U. The same thing happened when Mass Effect 2 debut on the PS3, it was higher in comparison to the PC and Xbox 360 versions at the time because they had previously been released prior on those 2 platforms.
The suggested retail pricin...
"I see a lot of doubt but that is fine. I can not blame anyone for it because the tech is advanced and not available to the consumer as of now."
Advanced tech would not have these limitations. Not all games will support the Gamepad. Furthermore no games as of yet support more than one Gamepad. So what we have here, if these rumors are true, is a system that has no unity. Some games allow Gamepad play, some allow the Pro controller, some allow original Wii controller...
This would be a huge game on the PS4.
I have to agree. Plus does give games a re-birth and the ones that have multiplayer get the most benefits from the added amount of gamers to play against/with.
Microsoft needs to do this in a easy to use way that simply works. No hiccups and no wasted steps. If I want to watch a video and control it with my tablet that's synced to the television it should be done in a very natural way. Same with your music, it should just work. If there are delays or multiple steps then to me it's a failure.
Steam is about to become an even bigger player in gaming. A lot of these games getting greenlit actually look pretty darn impressive. There's lots of talent out there and it's nice knowing a place like Steam is available for them.
I think 4K becoming anything mainstream is quite a ways off but you never know. But you're right, they could use Gaikai to stream it. Problem is can people afford the TV's and will Sony push them like they tried with 3D?
You two are both right to some degree (LX-General-Kaos and GribbleGrunger). Some articles do in fact offer great insight onto what some of the issues stemming with Sony are. I also feel some of the articles are a wake-up call because many like myself grew up with Sony and want them to prosper and continue giving us great experiences. So yes it is possible to criticize for the sake of what can be improved. However there also needs to be a balance because not everything is bad.

The point is it's two separate applications. One person who has the gamepad can see a totally different screen and change the output for the other players without them seeing or knowing what that person is doing on the gamepad. By having such low latency means the gameplay remains intact for everyone.
If people are that dumb they deserve to be perma-banned. If they downloaded the game from the early leak that's bad enough, but to try and play online this early is really pushing it. Who do they expect to play against besides other piraters?
I think Playstation Plus will greatly benefit with Gaikai, but regular members will also enjoy what Gaikai has to offer. To me it makes sense for Sony to use Gaikai as leverage to get even more people signed up to the Plus service. Some may not be happy paying but it's inevitable that Sony is going to want more revenue in return. They will still always have a free online service so there's no worry about that.
PES has made great strides this year but FIFA just has better polish all around and a better presentation along with great commentary. The gameplay itself (what actually matters most) is very good this year on PES.
The real winners are the gamers because Konami is able to compete and not have EA lock out other publishers like we see in the NFL.
From the article;
"When it comes to the PS3, I believe Sony is making two critical mistakes. Sony will not be dropping the price of older PS3 models, and they will not be releasing the 12GB SuperSlim model in the United States. These two problems go hand in hand, as they show Sony’s failure to appeal to gamers who are either on a budget or are only “casual” gamers."
So it does look like this is from the American media perspective which is why it's biased...
It takes time to really get the best out of the hardware. It's just too bad some developers seem to need new hardware to jumpstart innovation again. That's why I'm looking forward to this game quite a bit. There is still lots of great ideas they can do now without the need for new systems. It's always nice having that leap forward each generation, but when they don't have to struggle with new hardware they can concentrate more of making a great game while already knowing t...
The system starts at $300 so it's not that surprising that it could be selling at a loss. No other system previously has had a controller like this either and Nintendo is selling it in Japan for over $150.

So think about it, the system has more RAM than current systems, a controller that is well over $100, and...
