Gaming longer than Mario.

I do enjoy Pachters videos. When it comes to the business side such as game companies decision making and investment analysis is usually on point. But when it comes to predictions....I trust a weatherman calling for snow in July more.

Knowing DICE, that are not hinting at anything. Thats merely just a nod to fans and there ongoing assumptions at 2143. Just like the dinosaur stuff. In no way is it a sign that something is coming.

I'm really of two minds with this situation. I'm of the mind that if the games are still selling its hard to argue that people are in general are really tired . Some are, some aren't. Games like Uncharted, and God of war that come out every 2-3 years...no problem. I'm ready for a new one when they come out. Forza was fine for me until Horizon, It wasn't necessary and I would have rather just had more F4 cars and tracks. Halo, no problem there with the campaigns but for m...

Everyone always points to the game companies putting out more games. They do that because they sell. If they were not making money the wouldnt do it. Gamers must still be buying plenty of copies. If the fatigue is so bad, why don't more people stop buying the games? I know some do, but obviously not enough to stop companies from putting out more games. So where is the problem? Either the fatigue and uproar over more games is not as widespread outside the vocal blogger/commenter types. Or,...

It wasn't the micro-transactions...it was continuing to chase after the COD crowd. Carve out your own niche and gamers will come to you. Continue chasing after COD and end up in the scrap pile like Medal of Honor.

Most likely rumors, but even all the rumors that have been floating around have not impressed me and they seen to be getting worse.

Unless these guys are putting 1TB hard drives in the next systems, they can forget the idea of pushing digital downloads until we routinely have large amounts of storage space. I put a 500GB drive in my PS3 and it doesn't take long to eat a lot of that up if you are a PS+ member.

You are missing my point. What you get for $60 today is far more than what it got you 10 or 20 years ago. Times change, technology changes, and the economy changes. Its great that games have stayed in the same ball park after all these years. Your rant pretty much summed of the todays gamer, they want the best of everything for nothing.

$60 for a game in 2013 with all the work and tech that goes into it is a bargain. NES games were $40 new in the 80's. Genesis games were sometimes over $50, and N64 games got as high as $80 when the system first came out. Back then you could most games were completed in one two hour sitting. Gamers today are spoiled and don't realize how good they have it.

Microsoft is supposed to be revealing at GDC in March. Neither company is going to wait to reveal at E3. They want to reveal beforehand, create a buzz, and they show off the games and get into the details at E3. If one revealed before E3, and the other waited until E3 they run the risk of looking underwhelming if they don't completely blow everyone away on the biggest stage. Announcing before creates a few months of buzz based on some facts and less speculation. Then they get more months ...

I wish more game companies would just turn down the timed DLC deals in favor of keeping the whole fanbase level. But they most likely won't. They'll take the money because they figure they get the customer either way. The whole timed DLC and pre-order DLC stuff is getting out of hand.

My Xbox has served me well for many years but they have really let me down in the exclusive games area. Nothing on that list interests me except Gears.

Looks like Sony is learning from mistakes that hindered the PS3 at the start. Looking forward to seeing both consoles. I just wish they would cut the crap with motion controls and touchpads. Just like the six axis stuff, ideas they try to shove into games that really add nothing and just become a waste. Unfortunately we can't avoid more Kinect forced upon us.

If the the new COD releases on an new console that comes this year they will be nothing more than ports. The main focus for this year at list will be the current gen systems because of the customer base. With Xbox and Playstation both having 70+ million consoles out there thats were there focus will be. Everyone likes to assume that all these companies want there big titles to be next-gen launch titles. It will take months just to get 5 million next gen consoles in the market.

While not good for the people, this is common among game studios. Most studios that are not working on multiple titles will see a round of layoffs post launch when the workload does not require so many people. Sometimes these are full time employees, sometimes they were just contract employees and not really layoffs.

I think Sony needs to pick it up on the marking. They have a lot of great games that are just not getting enough sales.

A PSP and a ton of UMD movies. I was way past the hand held stage but the novelty got me.

@farcry that does bring up a good point. I could see some people getting confused between Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4.

I could see your Insurrection example working for a side story or something. But then a subtitle to a subtitle seems too much.

4890d ago 2 agree0 disagreeView comment

This is what I was thinking too. The modern warfare series would continue being the title for the current era themed games. I could see it bringing in new characters, or maybe be a side story to existing characters.

COD isn't going away anytime soon. Especially with the start of a new console generation.

EDIT: I was just thinking, how far would they go with MW numbers? I could see 5, but 6, 7, or 8? Probably not. I could see MW4 being the last MW game o...

Kinda misleading. They are only talking about registered Battlelog users. I don't know about PC, but you are never forced to sign into Battlelog in the console. Its not talking about sales or actual players playing the game. It sold about 12 million combined between the two consoles , and 3 million on PC but only 1 million players? No, thats just registered Battlelog users.

I think people let the emotion of the situation cloud their judgment too much when something like this happens. Its quick and easy to blame guns first, then video games, movies, the internet. Anything they can find to try to reason what happened other than sometimes people are bad or evil. Because that evil is not a tangible thing that people can see or measure it becomes hard for people to rationalize that.

Take away the guns and video games and tomorrow it will be something el...
