I hear so may gamers saying, just don't buy MT's, as if that solves the problem, it doesn't! Sure, you can ignore many of them now, but give it a year or two and I guarantee there will be games that cannot be completed unless you buy MT's. If it isn't stopped now, it never will be, and gaming will mean something completely different. If it comes to that state, I'll manage. I have collected machines for many years and it would take me a life time to complete all the gam...

Having been a PC gamer for many years, as well as a console gamer, I would like to commend your honesty. The reality is, PC's are miles ahead at the leading edge, but average gaming PC's are not all that many PC gamers claim. Even with the very best high end rigs, problems often occur running games. It has nothing to do with pure power, it's simply the problem of getting drivers,OS and games working effectively on unknown spec's right from a weak PC to a bleading edge. This is...

I'm confused with this patch or no patch nonsense. If this is just the standard game with no patch, but running on X, then it's a little sharper, but insignificantly so to justify an X, IMO. Of course, some games will be patched, I'll judge the results when I see those. I'm sure the X will be proved a worthwhile purchase once we get to see what it can do. BC and patched games is awesome, and very forward thinking, but not the main reason for an X purchase.

No. Didn't know that. I'm hoping that's not the case for all Dev's, but time will tell.

With the wealth of opinions posted, your comment condenses perfectly. I just hope people do this.

I'm looking forward to 2049. Got it pre-ordered on 4K+Blu ray edition. Trouble is, financially, in the cinema, it's flopped. Hopefully, with disc sales etc it'll make a profit. As for games, we have reached a situation where the developers wish the gamers to subsidize their bad decisions. Rather like insurance companies only wan't to take policies out on people who won't claim. What I mean is, they want to ensure they can't loose money, even if, they produce a crap gam...

Yep, an idea that's been around for ages, but never implemented. I know it may not be a fortune, but for someone like me who doesn't really give a hoot about trophies, this will add just that little bit of incentive. Good idea.

I agree with your comments, but realistically, X1s isn't capable of even PS4 levels of VR.

Sony should be congratulated for running with the VR banner. Truth is, VR is in it's infancy, but in time it will almost certainly become the norm, unless some new tech come along in the mean time. MS, again, are not ignoring the tech, but are showing little conviction of their own. I know PSVR is quite basic, but Sony will gain huge amounts of knowledge and experience from it. Oh, and quite a bit of money, too.

Fair point. We haven't really had any X1X games designed with the new console in mind. As you suggest, let's wait and see.

Hmm. Didn't know that. How do you know which are going to be enhanced?

I suspect you are correct. Just because you pay more, wouldn't reduce their greed. If anything it would increase it.

I would argue games cost more to make. Or more specifically, games don't need to cost more to make. Developers, like to release AAA games as regularly as possible so they employ huge numbers of staff that aren't really needed. The technology standardization, and other factors suggest it's actually easier to make games now. The massive companies don't care how much they spend on productions, they simply recoup from the punters. I wonder how much Divinity II cost to make? Probab...

I'm not viewing on the best gear, and not a 4K screen, but from what I could see there's no real difference. What the different versions run like in motion, however, can't be concluded from this. But all other things being equal, I wouldn't mind which version it was.

Seems like I'm in the minority, here. If I could only choose two, that would be X1X and switch. And If I could only have one, it would be PC. Fortunately, I don't have to limit myself. I enjoy all the consoles, and that's great. I don't have to hate on anyone, because they don't choose the same as me. Just enjoy your gaming, and let others do the same.

morganfell, I'm with you in terms of stuff running @ 60fps and above. 30fps doesn't compare, but you can select 1080p @60, and that's pretty good. This 4K thing is getting of hand imho. The higher quality textures etc are probably worth it, but 4K isn't required for fantastic game play, again, imho. I think the thing to remember here is that gears wasn't developed for the X1 from the ground up, so with that in mind it's an excellent effort, wouldn't you agree? I th...

PS4,Switch,PC, X1 and X1X for me. See, it sounds rather silly doesn't it.

I'll be so glad when this launch is done. Then we can stop with the lame comments, from all the usual suspects and concentrate on games again. Oh, Wait.
