I think PS4 is likely to be ahead, and remain that way. Here's my argument for this assumption. Clearly, dedicated fans on both sides are very likely to stick with either MS or Sony regardless of their console proposition. However,I suspect substainstial numbers -myself included, will have jumped ship to Sony, from MS, after the great DRM debacle. In fact, I own both PS3 and 360,but despite MS doing a U turn on DRM, I still have concerns over the 'always kineccted' thing, and still...

There seems to be a clear difference in vision between the industry and the consumer, as witnessed by the recent Xbox one DRM debacle. For me, it's not the technology, but the implementation that's the problem. Look, I don't have a problem with digital downloads as a method of delivery, but I do have a problem with it, as a method of control! If the industry said to me okay, if you download the games, the advantages are it will be more convenient AND cheaper for both parties, but y...

Three, yes three(3), operating systems interacting with each other in an attempt to work effectively and seamlessly together! That's funny. I think Sony has this right with just one.

Posting as someone who has 'jumped ship' to Sony, and pre-ordered my PS4,immediately this whole DRM fiasco started. I'd like MS to know that reversing their DRM now, isn't going to get me back. Basically, when a business starts dictating to it's customer base how they may use a purchased product, they break any trust relationship that may have existed. Not only are their recent actions contemptible, but seriously suspicious to my way of thinking. So, no, I don't think ...

Well I am assuming he meant it doesn't need to be connected to be used. That's good enough for me. And I've just pre-ordered my PS4 on this basis! 360 has always been my console of choice this gen. 40+ games purchased for 360 Vs. 6 + one digital for PS3. MS being so vague about their intentions will absolutely backfire on them. Okay, initially, casual gamers may be fooled by MS' hyperbole, but what happens to a casual gamer when he doesn't understand all the connection req...

Yes, finally! This has been my major concern with MS' new console from day one. And I'm so, so, pleased that lot's of you guy's agree. Privacy protection is paramount, especially in these days of 'always connected'. Another reason why I support the EU, because for all it's problems it does provide an independent view for the European peoples.MS may be able to fool or bribe(we'll set up shop here)some countries, but as a group of nations we can withstand corrupt...

I'm going to repeat myself at the risk of being annoying -apologies in advance. However,if MS intend to introduce said features, they will absolutely ensure it's disguised 'heavily and cleverly'. This includes convincing a lot of the media to hail the new features as fantastic or no big deal. You know, well, like, I'm always online playing multiplayer games anyway. Are we all aware of the right to privacy proposal currently being discussed by the EU? 'The right to be f...

On this one aspect, I happen to agree with you, but I think it was more a question of multiple designs, possibilities developed in parallel. Sony were probably hoping to go with the lowest spec option hence, 4GB dev kits, but hearing MS 8 GB they decided to up their game. I don't think it was completely out of the blue, though.

No Bottlenecks? Please, don't insult us. So far, I'm very much pro PS4 this gen due to the possible fiasco MS may bestow upon us. However, comments like this don't fill me with confidence. Clearly having a system with NO bottlenecks is unique to SONY, because I don't think anyone else would dare claim that. We know GG are good at what they do, and I'm sure they're manipulating the system effectively even now, but really.

I'm amazed that so many journo's seem to miss a fundamental point within this 'always on' debate. It's NOT just about always being connected, but also the CHOICE of always being connected. Choice, or at least the illusion of choice, is what separates democracies from dictatorships amongst other obvious things. It's the difference between choosing what car to buy and having no choice. I can't make this point any clearer. Do I mind always being connected to MS networ...

Worst company in America? Of course not. Just the worst gaming/publisher company in the world!! I think would be more accurate. Just read the privacy policy linked to Origin accounts. Jeez, makes north Korea seem like an open and attractive democracy. EA will only survive while they have the software that forces people to follow them. I'm convinced that situation will change. And when it does. Well.... enough said. And for those who think micro transactions aren't a big deal. well, fo...

What was the resolution again? So it's 30fps and what? 720p, 1080p couldn't find that bit. Personally,720p 60fps AND the physics seems the best compromise to me. I must admit I don't expect high end PC graphics, but at the moment is doesn't sound much up from PS3. Remember, this is basically PC architecture we're talking, so the learning curve argument will only get you so much credibility before something starts to stink.I was kind of hoping 720p 60fps for complex games a...

Always been the same. If it's good most people prefer to buy, if it's bad many choose to pirate. Good or bad, some will always pirate, but those few wouldn't buy anyway. so, there's no loss of revenue to anyone if you know you are releasing a good game.

You got an agree just for Pong! Ha teenage memories.
Seriously though, you do realise we are now in the minority. As I have mentioned elsewhere, long gone are the days of privacy, or even the concept of such. It's hard being a first generation gamer in the always connected world. Still, think of all the consoles we've enjoyed and it's not so bad.

Trusting MS is like putting your hand into a crocodile's open mouth and expecting it not to bite! MS is constantly under attack from just about everyone for it's privacy or compliance infringements, but ,hey go ahead trust away. This issue regarding 'always on' has, IMHO, absolutely nothing to do with faster starting consoles or faster patching of games. Jeez, see, this is MS selling a bag of s**t as the best way to grow roses. And many already believe it.(I'm talking the ...

I do find some of the posts, well, a bit strange. Many posters seem, either through wilful ignorance or innocent delusion, to miss the point! Where as to others it's blindingly obvious.I'm not sure which of the camps I fall into,I'll let you judge that one,but here's my view for what it's worth. I wouldn't mind a jot if MS elected to use all of the features outlined in the article. No, really, that wouldn't worry me. However, not having the option of turning those f...

Seems to be two schools of thought on this issue. Firstly, those who don't think 'always connected' is a big deal - MS loves you guys. And secondly, those who think it is a big deal- MS doesn't care, guys.I'm firmly in the later camp, and here's why.A little thing called choice. As some of you guys have already mentioned,it's the choice that's being taken away.Personally, I'm getting a little tired of software companies behaving like third world dictators,t...

Idiot, total idiot ! I really don't know where to start in response to this moronic post. In fact, I won't bother, it would only confuse such a feeble brain.
