A corporate testing game, a music band simulator, two MMORPGs, an FPS sequel, a GTA game, a camera application, and a Wii Sports sequel... wow, whole lot of change we can believe in. Are there any games without HUDs or RPGs developed by Square Enix coming out?

Dead Rising had some of the dumbest AI of this generation. I didn't really mind at first, because zombies are supposed to be brainless. And then I realized that the survivors had the exact same AI as the zombies. And *then* the game forced me to perform escort mission after escort mission with that AI.

Are there escort missions in Oneechanbara? If not, then even if it ends up terrible, it'll still be better-designed than either of the Dead Risings.

Actually, the current 'Wii is not hardcore' meme dates *at least* back to the most recent E3. As strange as it sounds, the volume of that kind of article is not quite as bad as it was around then.

As much as I'm looking forward to most of those games, I think it's a little bit premature to call them AAA titles -- as it is for all games that have yet to actually come out. Remember when a lot of people were touting the original Killzone as a 'Halo-Killer', and the game itself wound up mediocre...

I was under the impression that BioWare was funneling most, if not all, of its available resources into that ghastly looking Star Wars MMORPG.

As much as I love a lot of the games on the iPhone and as much as the device is as much an extension of body as, say, my hands or feet, 2009 seems to me to be a bit too soon an estimate for Apple to reach parity with Sony or Nintendo in the handheld gaming market. Practically speaking, it's so far done little to erode their share of sales so-far, so it would essentially be a case of going from zero to sixty in less than a year, which I don't really see happening.

From the sounds of it, because of the usual reasons: game producers/publishers/etc have ideas about the game that conflict with those of the game designers. And given that the former are usually the ones handling the money, what they want tends to get precedence.

Well, not really. It's like James Bond movies in that it's 'different' in that each new game has a new "Bad Guy with Evil plan to take over the universe who can be defeated by battling wave after wave of enemies and blowing stuff up at different locales.
