"look another moron"

Like I said: when you complete your education, your view on things might actually mean something to me.

Might.

But probably won't.

"what do you think your self you are just another one digit IQ nintendo fan"

And yet, even with my one digit worth of IQ, I'm still capable of utilizing punctuation and capitalization. Amazing, huh?

"Wii Play shouldn't count"

I'm honestly surprised that it does count. They usually discount hardware bundles for exactly this reason. That's why we don't see Wii Sports on there.

"look its not the sales numbers that matters you stupied"

Okay, first off, it's spelled 'stupid'. If you're going to call someone stupid, you should be able to do it at a supra-third grade spelling level. Unless of course you are a third-grader, in which case, great job.

Secondly, despite what you say, Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft, et cetera are what are known as 'businesses'. Now, these 'businesses' require something called 'money' to work. This 'money' ...

I'm puzzled. What precisely is the rationale for *not* shunning original fans?

"Why is anyone excited about Brutal Lagend? I've had enough of ole JB and his amazing ability to somehow get more annoying everytime he's associated with anything and now the fat talentless oaf means to infect gaming with his forced "ilarity". As if that godawful Tenacious D film wasn't the nadir of western culture we have to have him debase video games with his unutterably foul image?"

I imagine that most people looking forward to Brutal Legend could take o...

"I dunno man, I liked MP1 and 2 a lot more than the third. And it was the controls that mainly ruined 3 for me, and how you only got one beam. I mean sure that plays similarly to classic games, but bosses not having weaknesses to exploit wasn't as fun."

Yeah, although I really like Corruption, I pretty much agree with this sentiment. As fun as the pointer-style aiming was, it was kind of a one step forward-three steps back deal: no super missiles, no beam combos, no p...

The tabloid witch hunt probably won't die, seeing as how tabloids don't actually require actual 'truth' to write their articles.

On the other hand, it might actually be for the better for Mad World if the tabloids continue to moan about the game and how it will destroy our society, since in the world of marketing, there's no such thing as bad press.

"Casual gaming is like fast-food franchises. I say this because the casual game boom seems similar to the fast food explosion over the last 50 years. Casual games aren't saving the video game industry they're simply making it more bloated and over-saturated. "

Wait, are you saying that fast food franchises are bad? I'm confused. That can't be right.

"I really think you need to catch up on a few episodes of The Bonus Round."

Maybe so -- never watched it. Does he pull some sort of Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde switch between print media and video media and go from talking about how Blu-ray and exclusive titles will make the PS3 popular and successful in the long-run to instead talking about how terrible he thinks the system is?

"We expect the dominant console at the end of the next cycle to be Sony PlayStation 3, primarily due to our assessment that Sony will win the high definition DVD format war. "I wonder how you would find out that information. Do game publishers ever advertise that a game made a loss?"

They don't advertise it per se, but they do have the information, as do the developers and programmers and the like. Sites like Gameplayer actually have the advantage of working in and with the industry. If they were interested, they could do research, look at annual reports, or just do the old fashioned thing and ask around. They might not get something as s...

I mean, I more or less agree with the concept that there's more to the industry than sales and that reputation is important to companies, but I think the author is somewhat overstating that influence here, and more importantly, I think the article could have used examples of companies that have actually sold games at a loss. Aren't those really the companies that we should be hearing about?

6234d ago 1 agree2 disagreeView comment

Typical Gameplayer article. Even when I agree with some of what they're getting at, their points are badly argued.

In the first place, they never establish what they mean by failure (i.e., does it mean that it sold less than it projected, lost money, didn't live up to expectations among consumers, didn't establish a foundation for future titles in the franchise, or that it was not well-received by critics?).

In the second, it cites several games which don't reall...

Well, statistically speaking, most people around this site haven't played DK, but even if they had, whether games are good or bad is a subjective matter.

Sometimes, you gotta say Forget the naysayers cause they don't mean a thing and this is what style we bring.

Probably the PS2 for me, followed by my Wii, and my 360, respectively. This is of course not counting my iPhone or DS, which get a lot of use while on the go.

It's nice to know that the Nielsen people at least partly share my habits.

According to the original article, it seems they're only talking about the top-selling games of the UK.

http://www.mcvuk.com/news/3...

Placement within the list among North America, Japan or worldwide will likely be different, though I imagine a lot of the same games will be there.

I mean, as I mentioned before, I'm not saying that they're games that everyone would like -- obviously, everyone has different tastes. I personally prefer the shooter and puzzle genres, so that accounts for about 90% of what I own. I can understand people not liking the games I listed.

But I don't think it's really fair of people to say that all those games are basically interchangeable with shovelware like Bratz: The Game, since actual time, money, and effort was put into deve...
