Well, on the one hand, it's always interesting to see variety added to the Wii library. On the other, while it is possible to do multi-plat games on the Wii well, it's also possible to really botch the job.

Shortly after I sold my PS3, I remember one of my friends had his own turned into a very expensive paperweight during that whole firmware 2.4 debacle.

To solve the problem, he was called upon to get a screwdriver and open up his PS3, take out the harddrive, and reformat it on his PC. It didn't work because it turned out that the harddrive was permanently corrupted, so he went out and bought a 20GB replacement harddrive or something.

When that too failed, he wou...

"So the Wii doesn't suck then?"

Hey, if he thinks the Wii sucks, that's his business.

If he thinks the Wii is not popular, he is wrong.

I don't see what about this is particularly complicated.

"McDonalds is more popular, does that make it better?"

More popular and better than what?

How is 'better' even relevant to the point at hand?

"I thought you said "more isn't necessarily better"."

I did say that and I maintain that -- I believe you were the one who was saying "more is ALWAYS better".

I still don't see why any of that is relevant to this discussion. It doesn't appe...

Which is why more people own Wiis than either of the other two systems -- because it's not as popular as them. Yes.

Dear Platinum Games: You had me at that first trailer with the one guy getting a signpost through his face and then wandering off the edge of a bridge.

Not because it was a guy getting a signpost through his face, mind you, (though that *was* a plus), but because the itself sign was a warning against falling off the bridge.

I'm a sucker for those extra touches.

"The wii sell roughly 45mil in 3 years"

Um, the Wii's only been out for 2 years. 2.167 if you want to be picky.

"When a bada$$ game like Madworld has trailers none of these so called gamers show up."

Oh, they show up -- It's just that when they do, it's only to say silly things like "This would be a million zillion times better on the PS3!1!!"

There's no helping them, really.

"No More Heroes, Zack and Wiki, Medal of Honor Heroes 2, Boom Blox...those games were actually GOOD (seriously)"

And of those four, we know that two did well enough to warrant the sequels that are currently in development, proving that some games make money and some games don't. Nintendo platforms are not alone in this respect.

"To break it down, we could face an influx of investment into a console that is banking on a ghostly, unpredictable install base. Developers, publishers, investors and shareholders who have thrown money behind software and peripherals in the belief that they’ll be part of the buying frenzy could find relatively few people to buy their products - especially given the dominance of Nintendo’s first-party titles, which have the added bonus of requiring little additional costs in marketing. "The "oversaturation" I'm referring to was the oversaturation of video game consoles. Around the time of the crash there were...5 or 6?"

This point is correct, though it's off by about a dozen consoles: Colecovision, Coleco Gemini, Atari 2600, Atari 5200, the 2 Magnavox systems, the Emerson Arcadia, Intellivision, Tandyvision, Vectrex, Creativision, Astrocade, all those things that Sears released. Uh, that one from Philips whose name escapes me... Probably a...

Don't worry Awb. I think you're plenty intimidating.

Although I think this is perhaps the first time on N4G that I've actually been accused of being part of the hardcore anything crowd. o_O

I always assumed that my ability to find enjoyment in shooting bunnies in the face with plungers in Raving Rabbids precluded me from that sort of thing, but, hey, live and learn, right?

"Sony has the classic icons/mascots/IPs (Spyro,Crash Bandicoot,MetalGearSolid,Tekke n, etc) "

Crash Bandicoot? Spyro? We're calling those 'classics' now?

Really?

If we as gamers have grown desperate to the point where we look at CRASH BANDICOOT as an example of a classic IP, then we should all just kill ourselves right now.

Incidentally, how exactly are we defining the word 'has' here?

Are they IPs that be...

"There are some devs making money from the Wii, but not many that release "adult" orientated games.

I can only think of No More Heros."

Well, that's a little bit unfair. The Resident Evil 4 port and Umbrella Chronicles each sold over a million copies, and the latter was essentially an exploding heads simulator. Ditto for Red Steel. House of the Dead 2 & 3 sold just shy of a million, and the Wii version of World at War didn't sell anywhere...
