"most people will be brought back down to earth finding out that it's still just a beatemup brawler"

I'm not certain I follow. Why would people be disappointed about that? Obviously, they're not for everyone, but speaking from a historic and contemporary standpoint, Beat'em ups comprise one of the most successful and popular genres in all of gaming.

I like where this is going.

"Sonic's been going downhill since Yuji Naka left and it shows."

Sonic was going downhill long before that. God help us if we're acting like things were going peachy up to and including when Naka put a gun in Shadow the Hedgehog's hand.

"The third game fixes many of the minor issues from the prequels including reduced backtracking and more combative gameplay"

Meh. I personally thought those made the game a little weaker than its predecessors, but different strokes, I suppose.

I probably would have included BlastWorks: Build, Trade, Destroy on there.

Only the disciplined mind can see truth, Winston. You believe that truth is self-evident. When you delude yourself into thinking that you see something, you assume that everyone else sees the same thing as you. But I tell you, Winston, that truth is not external. Truth exists in the human mind, and nowhere else.

"Hey genius, I guess nobody can import the game in Germany."

My point is, aren't most games usually released somewhere else first before they're imported?

"Maybe you're right, perhaps Hitler doesn't allow foreign stuff to be sold in Germany yet"

Um, what are you talking about?

"German gaming magazine M!Games has provided the first review of MadWorld."

How exactly does that work out? The game isn't even being released in that country.

"I started as an artist. My first degree is in art and I've been drawing and painting my whole life. Believe it or not my first game was "Barbie Gamegirl". They all thought it would be funny to give the new guy a Barbie game. Joke was on them-the game sold like crazy and I became the art director."

And people act like nothing good ever comes out of those kinds of games.

I think 5.1 was being facetious.

Another one for the chemtrails crowd, I guess.

Aside from this being an old story, I'm still not entirely certain why it really matters. If interlacing is good enough for the people who actually made the game -- as well as some of the best looking games ever designed, e.g. Viewtiful Joe 1 + 2 and Okami -- then why not us?

"I'm curious as to what they used all that 'power' for"

Evidently, the title screen.

Well, "pretty" is a subjective term, but yes, it does make a certain amount of sense that less powerful systems would not the best choice for powerful games.

This information ranks somewhere in between Hurr and Durr.

"It is easy to startle someone; throw a strange demonic creature on the screen in an unexpected time and you might elicit a shocked gasp from the user, but true fear is harder. It takes great pacing and anticipation. Any experienced horror-based gamer will tell you, the most fear inducing part of any game comes in an empty, darkened corridor, forcing the player to push forward not knowing what is beyond the next door. This slow pacing can create great apprehension in the player, a fee...

Geez, are we really weighing the pros and cons of a *monopoly* these days? Is the economy that bad?

Has anyone mentioned the Touhou series yet? Those things are downright ridiculous at times. Especially the extra stages.

I think the Metroid series deserves some consideration, too. The original games could be pretty sadistic in their own right, and playing the Prime trilogy without picking up the extra missile expansions or energy tanks...

Now that I think about it, I'd say that God Hand is probably the most difficult game released since gaming went 3D. No doubt because it was based in large part on those older games.

It would probably be pretty high on this list if anyone had actually played it.

In all fairness, if we're just listing zombie games that have come out/been announced, the other systems have RE5, the original Dead Space, the original Dead Rising, the apparent Dead Rising sequel, Left4Dead, the other Onechanbara game, Zombie Outbreak, Zombie Wranglers, Dead Island, possibly Possession, and arguably Fallout 3.

"Zombie platform of choice" really depends on how one likes their zombie games, I suppose.
