Read that and thought much like you. Where are the REAL game changers? Like games that scream: "YOU MUST BUY THIS BOX FOR THIS STUFF"?! The PS4 and Switch all have titles like that, titles you can only find on those platforms. I give Xbox the hard time that I do because it's always thrown out there that power is the end all be all, while I don't see anything that can only be had on that device to justify all of the cheer-leading.
All in-house games SHOULD be 4K on the X, since, as others have pointed out, it's been hyped up to Hell and back as "THE 4K DEVICE". Now, all of a sudden, you want to throw shade at Sony, when those were never their words.
You want to know when the true "era of 4K" arrived? On Gaming PCs. Many moons ago.
Your problem is with thinking that the Xbox One X is on the same level as a 1080, and that a 1080 is a full on High-End card. Neither is the case. High-end is the 1080 Ti , and beyond that, until the Xbox One X is running 4K games at higher than 60fps, it'll never be able to really compete with the high-end market of PCs. And, like I said before, that's not even the highest grade.
So, no, at this time, the Xbox One X is about as powerful as a mid-ranged PC (1060-107...
Well, the "duh" is what many people are trying to convey to those of you who choose to remain in the dark regarding a hyperbolic statement like: "Xbox One X has closed the gap with PC". If we're talking Low/Mid-Ranged PCs, then yes, the "duh" is appropriate, but that's what we're trying to tell you. Consoles have always been fairly close to those types of machines, so it's a moot point.
It has NOT closed the gap with a High End ...
Well said.
It really isn't, because a High End PC can still hit resolutions and frame-rates the Xbox One X won't ever be able to. And never mind the Enthusiast bracket of PC gaming.
Closed the gap? Nope. What it has done is brought things closer. But, again, with hyperbolic statements like these, it will only put the console under a constant microscope it doesn't need to go under, as well as, place unrealistic expectations on it. As an owner of an Enthusiast powered RIG, I know better. Consoles won't ever close the gap entirely. Just too much additional technology will always be involved. At least for the sake of SOME clarity, he acknowledges that. Plus, with mor...
In a word: yup!
Not only has the PC been doing 4K for the longest time now, the Pro is also a successful 4K platform, despite how many more 4K titles the, more powerful machine, will have.
So I'm not sure what the failure is.
Hmmm...the entire quote offers the bigger picture...
"While discussing Gears of War 4, reviewer Jimmy Thang said, "In terms of pure image fidelity, it surprisingly looked better than our high-end gaming PC equipped with a GTX 1080 running the game maxed out, as it offered extra dynamic shadows that don't seem to be available on the PC. Unfortunately, the game doesn't run at 60 FPS here on the Xbox One X, so a high-end PC will be able to beat it in terms of...
Right. They've loved all consoles that came before (talking during a hardware launch). Nothing particularly different, here. They absolutely praised the Pro and Switch!
Name the truly exclusive Xbox One games and then we can proceed to name the fully exclusive PS4 games. Never mind agendas and specific math. One platform totally dominates the other in this regard.
Although I'm picking up the X, I agree with much of what you're saying, especially below. The new narrative is to compare a $500 PC with the X1X, but why do that when a PC has for more uses?
Regardless, it's all about the games. While the X1X will provide me with plenty of online time with some Xbox friends, my PC generally gives me the Premium experience for Xbox console exclusives. Thus, Microsoft should really consider putting out games that take real advanta...
In fairness, the full naming scheme goes...
NVIDIA GeForce GTX Titan X (Maxwell)
NVIDIA Titan X (Pascal)
NVIDIA Titan Xp (Pascal)
This one, as of now, is just called Titan X Collector's Edition. As an owner of two Titan Xp(s), I'm certainly intrigued, particularly as I just bought these in September (and they had only been out 5 months). I'm leaning towards this being a slightly faster card, but with very serious aesthetic ch...
Uh, what makes it a "bad" idea?
Yes, $500 is steep for a modern gaming console. Even Microsoft acknowledge this when they specify that it is for the "Premium Consumer". Whether it's cheaper than most graphics cards or not is irrelevant to that point.
Not only do I have a car, but a gaming device that's many times more expensive the the One X. You can deflect/insult (ironic, too) or what have you, and the bottom line still won't change.
As are most consoles.
I didn't realize that Meta scores determined "domination". Never mind that the article is also about sales and we have a head-scratcher from you.
And Nintendo's games have always rated higher than everyone else's, so it's not only irrelevant, but moot.
More like 4GB of additional VRAM. The "teraflop" word that so many console gamers have suddenly latched onto has clouded what they really mean. Floating Point Performance. 1.8 additional TFLOPS isn't what you should be looking at, rather, the sum of the parts of the machine. It's like comparing the GTX 1080 to the GTX 1080 Ti and judging their big difference by the TFLOPS. The VRAM difference (3GB) is a far bigger deal.
That's the case with the Pro vs...
