"Mighty impressive but not a game changer"

Very much my view of it.

Consoles still pale in comparison to what the best PCs can do. Neither the Pro nor Xbox One X have changed that reality. No gaps are closing at all. If people were actually taking advantage of PC hardware, we wouldn't be having this discussion, but even if we entertain that idea, the best looking/performing titles still sit very comfortably in PC's corner. And this is before we get to mods.

Eh, the bar was set in 2013. We didn't need iterative consoles for that.

@ Nyxus: He's usually wrong. Why I stopped wasting any energy debating with him years ago.

Truth is Telltale still credit Heavy Rain as one of their biggest inspirations for their games. David Cage has improved his craft (storytelling) with each new project. I like watching him grow and evolve, while still keeping Heavy Rain close to my heart as my #1 video game.

Nah. His games can be enjoyable and people like them, even if you don't. Thus, he's getting credit from the former.

You completely misunderstood that sentence. Less people are interested in having "the best" versus having what works. I didn't say people weren't interested in power and I certainly didn't say that I, myself, wasn't interested in power. You can be interested in power without having to shell out $500 for the most expensive machine. It shouldn't take rocket science for you to figure that out when 1 in every 5 PS4s sold is a Pro. What does that tell you? The premium...

I'd say it's more about the handful of core gamers that are INTERESTED in power. But, as far as the Xbox brand's strength, that'll be tested when they actually start putting out exclusive software you can only find with that brand. And I mean Xbox and Xbox only. Not Windows 10 + Xbox. Yea, I've enjoyed Quantum Break and Forza Horizon 3 on my PC, but I would have been just as happy to play those only on Xbox (giving the system some additional selling power and recognition)....

Depressing? One machine is more powerful than the other. That's.....simple physics. Of course there are going to be differences.

What's depressing is how some of you choose to make a big deal out of it.

Of course, PC has no trouble winning this one. That said, the X's advantages in specs make themselves clear regarding res. While fluctuating from 4K at times, it still remains at least 103% ahead of the Pro most of the time. That's significant. Still, I'm happy to be able to own a exceptionally powerful PC plus both premium consoles. This way, I have the choice of where to buy at my disposal.

Nothing really for me to deal with. The one who got offended was you, obviously, as you began slinging insults when you were unable to actually refute my valid points. Yes, "blowing hot air" is a figure of speech when saying that someone's argument is full of holes. You've yet to prove that wrong, so the statement worked in your case. :)

On the subject of the Xbox, and in regards to your "fact is" comment, there's nothing undeniable there. It...

"People like me" asked you a question that you can't realistically answer. So, while I get that you have to resort to personal insults and attacks because your argument is as stable as a house of sticks, that doesn't help your case at all. Regarding my inquiry, the past is irrelevant. What the Switch has done is irrelevant. "Xbox won't close the gap" - Garbage? Nah. I call it a logical guess based on the current climate in the industry and you have no reasonabl...

You can't "close gaps" until you're outselling the competition. Getting beat by 100,000 versus getting beat by 200,000 doesn't mean that you're closing the gap. To do that, THEY'D need to be the ones selling more.

I don't get how such simple math flies right over some of you. You cannot, I repeat CANNOT, close any gaps until you're outselling your competition. And since Microsoft hasn't given any solid numbers recently, I don't ...

.....over the Xbox One (for those that actually care to read the article and know what they are talking about).

They'll close the gap a bit? How? I've seen this said several times now. To do that, they have to beat the PS4, for months, worldwide. Explain how you see that happening...

I don't know, ask The Last Of Us Part II and Spider-Man those questions. Afterwards, show me the Xbox One X equivalents.

There wasn't ever a "norm". Last gen was an anomaly. PlayStation has always done well in the US and, besides last gen, better than Xbox.

But, the bottom line? A $500 machine isn't changing anything in the US. Sony has it on lock.

3035d ago 9 agree0 disagreeView comment

Bringing good exclusives wouldn't be enough, either. The gap's not changing. The generation is lost and Xbox doesn't have the worldwide appeal to get the job done.

3035d ago 17 agree0 disagreeView comment

They won't even gain ground. Look very closely at how the math works,. They'd have to outsell the PS4, worldwide, for months, and months, on end. Gaining ground means just that, not outselling the PS4, in just a few territories, during a packed holiday season only.

@ Jaguar: If it is "pure rubbish", why not offer an actual rebuttal?

3035d ago 31 agree1 disagreeView comment

This article is painful to read, mainly because the author truly thinks that power is the main reason the PS4 has the commanding lead that it does. On top of that, Microsoft hasn't ever won a generation, and thus, hasn't ever been on top.

And this is why the console has many of the critics that it does. Instead of just being a better machine than the Pro, it has to be accompanied by these continuous hyperbolic statements. Since it seems to fly over heads - I've ...
