- Backwards compatibility would be a nice addition, but it's not something PlayStation needs to "learn" from Xbox (someone needs a history lesson there).
- 4K Blu-ray? Obviously, most people couldn't care less.
- Integration with OTA or cable TV. Eh, again, would be a nice add-on, but hardly needed.
I only agree regarding the set-up surrounding PlayStation NOW. Otherwise, Sony needs to keep doing what they're doing...
Then sell it. It's clear you don't need it.
Can't touch something you don't own. :)
Final Fantasy VII: R hasn't even been hinted at for Xbox. It'll be PC. A huge chunk of the game's audience is in Japan, where Xbox is non-existent, and Sony has partial publishing rights to the original game.
So I wouldn't get my hopes up.
Um, I bought the Xbox One X pal. It's not about some ridiculous "approval" you've conjured up in your head. Rather, keeping the hyperbole in check. To say it is better than "most gaming rigs", you'd need to show me those rigs. If you can't, the statement is hot air.
@combatcash: First, you don't know what the "average PC" spec is. Next, the X is a mid-ranged PC, at best. It's not the high-end "beast" y'all claim it is (this would require at least a GTX 1080 [or AMD equivalent] and a FAR better CPU than what's in it).
Really, it is a well crafted console that just happens to be able to hit 4K on a select bunch of games. And games looking great on it is irrelevant. No one argued otherwise. Games just h...
Spot on!
"The X mops the floor with a 1060 in every spec"
No, it doesn't. The Xbox One X has a slower Base Clock, Boost Clock, and Memory Clock than the 1060 (6GB Edition). The X's advantages are RAM (which is really a 12GB framebuffer for the entire Xbox One X system, not just from the GPU) and teraflops (which is simply floating point performance and doesn't make the kind of impact on things many of you guys have been lead to believe that they do).
...
So old that the GPU business is one of the most successful in consumer electronics.
It ISN'T better than the 1060, darth. This was said in the beginning, and now by someone who actually creates games. It's like some of you really want to sound ignorant no matter how bad it makes you look.
@ GameBro: It isn't "keeping up with most pc gaming rigs" at all (have a check at Digital Foundry). You're seeing games made for consoles being upscaled (or "Checkerboarded") to 4K. If they were PC games to start with, we wouldn't e...
That quote remains Internet Gold! And it will surely come back to bite them when it returns during the PS5's launch! :P
@ Razzer: Thank you, although you can't expect him to actually look that stuff up. He'll just post whatever he can to promote the Xbox One X (even though he's a supposed "hardcore PC gamer").
So, like I (and this dev) said - the One X's GPU remains the equivalent of the 1060.
The real 'BEASTS' are on PC. Yes. And it's only going to get better. 2018 will bring in Volta for NVIDIA (along with new Titans), which is what I'll be buying!
For gaming, the PC/Pro/Switch combo is best. Covers all the bases with the most exclusives and best looking multiplats (all without having to touch any Xbox system).
So yes, from a purely gaming perspective, the PS4 is the the better choice between the two.
No. There isn't any Checkboard Rendering on PC. Besides, you can doubt these devs all you want. Anyone TRULY in the know gets that the Xbox One X's GPU is the equivalent of a 1060. I called this weeks ago, to people like you, in fact.
GTX 1060. Like I've told many a Xbox fanatic that says otherwise.
Um........huh?
@fiveby9: I didn't say it wasn't important, I said it doesn't win the race. The PS1 and PS2 proved that. The focus on power isn't why the PS4 is so far ahead.
So there isn't any "mistake" to make. The Xbox One X won't make a even a 10% dent in the bottom line (market-share).
You want the best versions of PS4's games? Easy solution - buy a Pro (you don't have one - anybody can see that, despite what you claim). Otherwise, stay with your Xbox One X and enjoy "the best console multiplats".
Another one who claims to have a Sony console when the writing's on the wall. Get some new material, Champ.
OT: The big reason for Sony's VR lead is mainly down to accessibility. Sony made a lot of good moves with the device and are not only reaping the benefits, but leading the charge in the VR Department. I expect a MUCH bigger presence for it during the PS5's generation.
