Those who missed out on WiiU missed some utterly fantastic games, I bought my WiiU ahead of the XB1 because the games were better and in my opinion, the games on WiiU are still better than anything on the XB1.

My biggest concern with an all digital future is that the consumer will be completely at the mercy of the publisher in respect of the cost of the game. Without the competition that comes from competing retailers there will be no cause to lower prices. They have already proven that to be the case with their disgusting PSN pricing on new releases, always at least a tenner more than my favourite online games retailer.

Exactly this, you only need to look at Digital Foundy's content to see that they have to pause the game, zoom in ridiculously closely and then use software to count pixels. The reality is that for the most part, you are going to see diminishing returns on visuals going forward.

I got my Switch last week and I have to say, Mario is pretty incredible and may well deserve to be GOTY, I also have Zelda to crack on with now that I have earned my Platinum on AC: Origins.

I cannot help but wonder how the PS4 figures will stack up when compared to Xbox in November. I honestly assumed MS would dominate in November and December with the launch of the XB1X but from all the buzz surrounding cheap PS4 (and Switch) deals I think it could be much closer than people thought.

Congrats buddy, I bought mine on Thursday last week. You are in for a treat, Mario is flipping incredible and the console is fantastic too.
Picked up my Switch on the Thursday as I think they will be like gold dust come Christmas. I cannot believe how good Mario is, it really does drive home the point that great game mechanics and design will always trump graphical fidelity....having said that, Mario looks flipping amazing too.

Because it has 2 games on it that are exclusive and in contention for game of the year, that's why I just bought mine. Heck, even if you count out Mario and Zelda, you still have Splatoon 2, MarioKart8, Mario v Rabbids and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 which are all better than anything exclusive that MS has to offer.
Seems clear to me that MS have milked this cow too often, no matter how good the games might be, releasing a Forza game every year is never going to lead to ever increasing sales figures.
Kind of worrisome that Amazon are looking to shift stock this soon after launch, perhaps they are overstocked? I haven't seen retailers knocking money off any Nintendo hardware yet.....which I pleased about as I paid the going rate earlier in the week 😃

I have never quite understood the lack of excitement in the media for this game. I thought it looked fantastic from the very first video and each subsequent showing has just built on that excitement.
It just reinforces my feelings that the opinions of mainstream games media is often way out of sync with my own feelings.
I often hear people stating they don't want their government regulating this kind of matter, that self regulation is preferable. I believe this perspective was taken in a recent Kindafunny podcast I listened too with Greg Miller and Andrea Rene.
My issue with that standpoint is that it just doesn't work. We only enjoy protection from all sorts of dangerous, questionable and often criminal business practices from all industry sectors because of rules and regulations...
