Last time I checked, people are still buying COD, so apparently plenty of customers are coming back for more.

Honestly, games are a LUXURY item. They're entertainment. Kotick & Co can charge as much as they want, nickel and dime customers however they feel they can get away with, etc. It either works or it doesn't. And if it doesn't, then it's Activision that stands to lose the most.

That's why it's great that there is competit...

I think Infamous 2 has taught us that game characters are not allowed to change their hair style.

Unfortunately, "soon" is a nebulous term in Square-speak. I'll believe it when it's out.

@bustamove: He didn't just disagree. And he formulated a logical response to that opinion, and backed up his position by reason of the talet involved.

That's what mature people call debating.

But by the same token, any game can be called "just a game", etc. I really don't see why it bothers anyone that people enjoy Halo. If some feel that Reach is the best thing ever, so what?

In any case, this site is called "GameSnark" for a reason. And for the record, they also have a LOVE review:

Killzone and Halo are action-FPS games. They're more about the actual shooting, and tend to deliver excellent firefights.

Games like Bioshock fall more into the adventure-FPS category, weaker when it comes to the firefights, but stronger in the atmosphere and exploration department.

They're two different subgenres, and shouldn't be directly compared.

What's traditionally supposed to be symetrical is the left stick and the face buttons. It's not that the Gamecube and Xbox controllers are "offset". They are actually symetrical for games that use those buttons.

For instance, when you're playing God of War, where are your thumbs? You're actually holding them in an offset position on the DS3.

"There's a reason the PS controllers shape hasn't changed since it came out...

@A Cupcake for Gabe: "It's a lie and an opinion."

Hehe, it's got to be one or the other, not both :)

Anyway, I get what you're saying, but at least the 1st comment didn't make any negative statements about competing shooters or consoles, something that happens all too frequently among the less mature members here.

Who needs games when you can go to Hooters with the 3D camera :)

Actually, I can think of all kinds of evil uses for that thing...

But that doesn't make sense either. How did MS start the war this gen when the 360 was released first? Do you mean the previous gen?

I'm not trying to be combative, it just strikes me as such an absurd thing to say. Companies are going to compete, but it's not companies that start "console wars", it's crazy fanboys with corporate loyalties bordering on religious devotion.

@DarthJay: Everyone's entitled to their opinion, but your opinion is like reading a wine review by someone who doesn't like a merlot because it's not a cab.

Halo isn't COD. It's not supposed to be. Kill times are longer with most weapons due to energy sheilds, and it allows fo more back-and-forth in firefights, versus the COD-style "as soon as you're in my sights you're dead".

You complain that sheilds strike you as a...

MS started the console war? Man, you must be too young to remember the NES vs Master System or SNES vs Genesis days...

Fanboys are like death and taxes. They will always be around. Claiming MS started the "console war" just mnakes you look like one.

Same here. I was online in firefight last night with no lag.

From Bungie's explanation, it seems the limiting factor is if someone has a bad connection, it slows down everyone, since all the AI data has to be fed at the same speed to everyone's console. So play with people who have a good connection and you'll be fine.

You have to stop to absorb the orbs because you can choose to have them go to powering either your light meter or dark meter. So it actualy *does* play a strategic role in the gameplay.

And I actually find the QTEs less jarring in this game, thanks to the fact that a giant glowing button doesn't show up onscreen. The circles are at least a little more subtle.

The game does have a whole lot of HUD though.

Totally buying both also :)

Although I'm a bit more excited about this. It keeps looking better with each new video. And if they can keep up this level of visuals and gameplay for 15-20 hours, that will be quite impressive.

It's like reading a rant by a forum troll.

He complains about additions like customization in firefight because it should have been in ODST....He complains about lack of bots because he thinks it's a conspiracy to get people to pay for Live....He complains that the campaign is terrible because it's a well told war story and not some mystery with a ton of plot twists.

Seriously, it's like someone crapped in his Cheerios. I'd expect thi...

The article is a blog rant, and shameless flame bait on N4G. We've got enough of that already.

Moreover, it's not a good article. You claim to have been anticipating the game for weeks, but then you were upset to find a few updated map remakes? If you had been following the game at all, you would have already known about the map list beforehand.

Then you make statements like "spending hours to complete the game in Halo 2 and 3, but in Reach t...
