It's not running on iD Tech5. That was already stated in one of the QuakeCon interviews.
However, the engine has supposedly seen a major overhaul, much bigger than the jump from Oblivion to Fallout 3. And Carmack had some input on details like better shadows, etc.
While I'd love to see a TES game running on iD's new engine, at least this way we'll get the game sooner rather than years from now.
There have been rumors of Zenimax devloping an MMO for a while, but Todd Howard's team at BGS is not making it, and it's not TESV.
Todd has already laid the fears of TESV being an MMO to rest. This story is just pure speculation, with no more merit than any random forum thread.
Is the other reason Capcom's PR guy conveniently left out.
I think the game will be cool on the 3DS, but I don't buy that the decision was made purely for design purposes. The fact is, we probably wouldn't see the game at all if it meant risking $20+ million to develop it for a home console.
I'd love another Darkness, but no Starbreeze Studios leaves me feeling very skeptical about the sequel...
Not unusual, considering Sony has been selling VAIO PCs with Windows on them for years. The companies are not as bitterly opposed as some fanboys seem to think. And WP7 looks like a nice improvement over the older windows phones.
Oh, I don't think Kirby is just for girls. Kirby Super Star is still one of my favorite SNES games.
I'm just getting it for her because I know her well enough to know she'll like it, and Christmas is right around the corner after all.
Nice. I'm buying this game as a gift for my sister, but I totally want to play it too :)
True. As good as some of these look, I'd trade them all for TESV in a heartbeat. Hopefully after the buzz dies down for New Vegas we'll finally get an announcement from Bethesda.
You really think GT5's worldwide numbers will be higher than CoD's?
That strikes me as highly unlikely.
Like Halo Reach, the simple fact that GT5 is not multiplatform means that its numbers will almost definitely fall short of Black Ops.
Great interview. And a 20 hour long campaign? I can't wait for this game.
Didn't we already have one of these yesterday? And one "screenshot comparison" story is more than enough, especially when we're resorting to Google translate just to get another....
I couldn't care less about Kinect, but is anyone really dense enough to buy the thinking of this article?
That would be like saying that Sony "alienated gamers" when they released the Eye Toy. It's just absurd. With all the money FPS and other traditional genres make on the 360, you can be sure MS isn't going to abandon all that potential revenue.
Whether or not Kinect is a success, MS will continue pursuing the hardcore market as we...
I think the interface can be improved. It will have to be heavily streamlined, and that will make some aspects of play less cumbersome.
However, the repetitive quest structure, broken mechanics and needless grinding are still big hurdles to overcome. It would have to practically be turned into a different game to become "good".
With BFBC2 selling over 5 million units and MoH's sales looking strong, it makes zero sense to "give up".
Who cares if CoD sells more? As a company, you don't have to "win" (something fanboys don't seem to understand), the point is to make a profit, and as long as your sales are strong enough to do that, you keep going.
Agreed. Glad to see Invasion getting some love, and it's a snow map! Now all we need is some desert action in the next pack :)
All of these look like fun, and its good that they're all original, rather than remakes.
Good job with the off-topic flame baiting. N4G totally needs more of that.
"That doesn't mean they will do everything their fans want but they do listen."
And that's key. Many of Bungie's fans wanted Reach to basically play exactly like a prettier version of Halo 3, and Bungie did the right thing by often saying "NO" to their fans.
They listened, and changed things where it made sense, but didn't sacrifice their vision just to placate every whim of the fanbase. That's how a smart developer...
between listening to the fans and letting the fans dictate how a game will be.
It's always smart to listen to your fans, especially when it comes to making a sequel and listening to problems fans had with the previous game (for example, I would hope Mercury Steam will listen to the feedback and improve the camera and invisible walls for their next Castlevania).
That said, if a developer has a vision that involves doing something different, they should...
Don't worry, soon it will be picked up by Gearbox Software with a big reveal by Randy Pitchford.
Oh, wait.....
