VGChartz is not as off as some here would like to believe.
Their total numbers may not track undeveloped 3rd world nations or those with more closed-off economies (since accurate sales numbers are hard to come by there), but for most of the developed world they are fairly accurate.
Implying that the company is run by fanboys is just immature.
Thief 4 please.
Also Hitman 5. I need to get my stealth on.
Jensen Ackles (plays Dean in Supernatural) could probably pull it off.
Those are great numbers for a downloadable title, especially one that's not an FPS. Might have to take Castle Crashers for another run after I finish dying a bazillion times (and loving it ^_^) in Super Meat Boy.
I wanna fly sky high! Let's go together!

I'm also looking forward to Uncharted 3, but yeah, my most wanted in 2011 are mainly multiplatform titles.
TESV: Skyrim
Deus Ex: Human Revolution
Mass Effect 3
Batman: Arkham City
L.A. Noire

It's going to be an awesome year.
It looks good, but I still hate that the necromorphs from Dead Space made it into the game.
Generic mutants that, like most mutant AIs, just run straight at you and attack, make for poor enemies and seem really out of place here.
Ah yes, I too would like to pledge my fervent support to a huge foreign corporation that doesn't care whether I live or die!
It's more like:
Motorola needs cash so they're hitting up MS in hopes of getting a settlement.
We're used to it on N4G.
Halo, RDR, even StarCraft 2 made the list. And nice touch with spreading the article out across 9 pages. Clearly no hit-whoring tactics going on here at all...
Heck, they might as well have just called this article:
"Why your favorite game sucks"
It's definitely more classic Castlevania and less Metroidvania. The gameplay does have some derivative elements, but for the most part it pulls them off well enough that you won't mind.
Demon's Souls and Valkriya Chronicles are great games, and then there's also the WRPGs by companies like Bioware and Bethesda.
The only thing that's really lacking is traditional, turn-based JRPGs. The PS2 had so many great turn-based RPGs, it's sad to see the genre so poorly supported this gen.
Dead Space 2 is ACTION horror. I enjoy Dead Space quite a bit, but it's not accurate to call it a survival horror game.
Survival horror is about feeling vulnerable, not empowered, and it's hard not to feel powerful when you're a dude in a tank suit with half a dozen upgradeable tools of dismemberment.
Games like Amnesia and the old Silent Hills and Fatal Frames are survival horror. Sadly, we get very few new games in the genre these days, but ...
It doesn't look bad, but I'm not touching this one unless the AI has been given a serious overhaul.
Me too. Was my most awaited game after TESV. I just hope they put the extra time to good use and don't try and "mainstream" the game at all.
Hardware has limits, but not talent and imagination, and Naughty Dog has plenty of that.
Here's Jim's review of Heavy Rain:

Sorry, but there's no comparison whatsoever.
You might call it "nonsensical", but he explains his problems with HR far better than in the EW piece. And it's not all bashing. If you actually read it, he does give the game some praise.

@Iamback
Actually, you missed the point of the article. Try reading it:
"Naturally, Entertainment Weekly has the right to pick its games, and that is their opinion. It's not so much the decision that bothers me, though, but the absolute nonsensical reasoning behind it. Of all the total stinkers released this year, Epic Yarn is voted the absolute worst of the year because it's too cute?"

@Lirky
Sounds like wishful fanboy thinking to me.
Would TR1 have been better if it stayed a Saturn exclusive, as was originally planned?
Agreed. The story telling in the last 3rd of the game felt forced. I didn't really buy Kratos' attachment to Pandora, nor some of his heroic choices given how brutal he was throughout most of the game.
Also, they really needed more of the smarter enemies, such as the satyrs, in the late game, instead of just sending bigger and bigger mobs of the same old enemies. And the wooden-box labyrinth was underwhelming after all the awesome vistas earlier.
