Next thing you know Bioware is going to dumb down Elder Scrolls :)

Yeah, this is like villainizing companies that do promotions like:

"A percent of every sale will go to benefit [insert charitable cause here]"

The only reason this is news is that it's Microsoft. Companies have been doing this forever, and the net result is a good thing.

I wonder how many of the people complaining have donated a dime...

A nice sentiment, but honestly, I doubt games make you a better or a worse person.

Then again....there's something to be said for the Roman saying "bread and circus". Perhaps video games are keeping us distracted enough not to bother with violent revolution, etc. Gaming is the glue holding civilization as we know it together! :)

"Have you seen how many users are giving Dragon Age II a big fat ZERO on metacritic?"

Have you seen how many people write reviews on metacritic without even having played the game?

Oh please. He's not "trying to make people upset".

Cliffy is just having a little fun at the expense of the most anal of fanboys. No one else would ever find that statement offensive or inflammatory.

If you take video games so seriously that this kind of thing hurts your feelings, you must have a pretty care free life...

Upping the difficulty doesn't increase the depth of stat management in a game, or make a linear game less linear, etc. You should try reading the article.

The author makes good points. My only complaint is the term "consolitis". It presupposes a divide where there isn't one.

I'm primarily a console gamer, yet I like depth in my games. I preferred Morrowind to Oblivion, Thief 1 & 2 to Thief 3, Deus Ex 1 to Invisible War, and so on...

I agree that harder isn't necessarily better, but I highly doubt this game will be a mere cash in.

From Software has already shown they know how to make challenging gameplay rewarding, and everything shown so far looks pretty awesome.

Even so, I'm still a bit skeptical. Maybe if they're dividing sales of Mario Kart Wii into 2 different SKUs (one with the wheel accessory and one without) and only counting one of them, but otherwise that game should have a healthy lead over Black Ops for US sales.

Low score for Pilotwings Resort as well. I was hoping it would live up to the awesome addictiveness of Pilotwings 64...

I enjoyed Enslaved quite a bit, but the climbing system felt like a missed opportunity. The combination of glowing grapple points and impossible-to-fall design made for a gameplay mechanic that basically played itself.

Climbing closer to Tomb Raider/Uncharted/Prince of Persia would have improved the game vastly.

Actually, now that I think about it, what all the good climbing games have in common is this: Climbing is a PUZZLE.

You get a ...

I'm cautiously excited for this. Only thing that bothers me is that the previews tend to be all about the combat.

Combat is great and all, but if this is a serious RPG, I want to hear about dialogue and non-violent NPC interactions. Are there 1,000+ speaking NPCs like in Elder Scrolls? Engaging dialogue options like in Mass Effect?

Tell us about something other than how fun it is to kill everything that moves...

Metal Gear's story isn't stereotypical.

It's ridiculous and convoluted at times, but it's definitely unique :)

The problem is that what everyone wants is Xillia, and if Bandai Namco can't see that, they are blind.

Some will buy Graces F just to increase the chances of Xillia getting localized, but those people are a very small minority of the hardcore fans.

The whole idea is a little ridiculous. BN should just commit to releasing the game that fans are actually excited about, instead of making their customers jump through hoops and pinning the probability of ...

Technically, id did "smoothed curves" back with Quake 3 Arena. The tech has been there for a while, but unfortunately is seldom used.

I certainly hope so.

Some of the 2D Zeldas such as LttP are still my favorites, but Wind Waker was easily one of the best and most memorable games in the series.

You don't have to. Plenty of people have played for 8+ hours straight already with no intense eye strain.

Just like not everyone gets motion sickness from 1st person games, not everyone will have eye strain from the 3DS. It's just that the few that do will be the most vocal on the internet for the next few weeks.

That's the way news works. Find a "scandal" and blow it out of proportion.

For all we know, that could be camcorder footage of the real Batman :)

No pain no gain.

Time to give those eyes a workout I say! And if I can use my 3DS as a torture device on the side, then all the better...

Cryengine 3 outputs directly to all the platforms. It's not like a game is "developed for 360 and then ported to PS3". That's not how the engine works.

The newer generation of graphics engines, such as Cryengine 3 and iD tech 5, automatically render to 360, PS3 and PC. There is no "X is holding Y back". Rather, the engine makes changes to the textures/resolution/etc. automatically to scale the game to each platform's hardware.

Neither Thief 1 nor 2 is on Steam, only Deadly Shadows (Thief 3)...

Sad, considering how much better th first 2 games are, but there are technical problems keeping the them from getting released on either Steam or GoG.
