The consoles are already well into their life cycles, past the point of any one factor spelling "the end".
I agree that MS should be investing into more non-Kinect exclusives, but at this point it's not like the hardware and software won't continue to sell. Heck, if you were to ask the average customer about "2011 exclusives", 90% of them wouldn't have the slightest clue.
I just hope they get better performance out of the engine for the consoles this time. Mafia 2 looks pretty amazing on PC, but it really could have used some better optimization for the 360 and PS3.
Yeah, Chrono Trigger and FF6 would definitely make my top 5. Putting NBA Jam above either strikes me as the weirdest decision in this list, but to each their own I guess.
Can't say it doesn't fit.
Indeed, I too am convinced that "shouting dragons will awsome!!!" :)
Here I was all ready to love Nintendo again with the promising features of the 3DS, and then they go and do this....making me burn with an inferno of rage that can only be quenched by the blood of Nintendo executives!
Seriously, this makes me think twice about preodering a 3DS. Might have to wait for the PSP2 just to spite them.
I'm fine with it borrowing a bit from God of War, but without GoW's epic vistas and beautiful scenery, I can't see this having the same impact.
The Buddhist-style characters are great, but so far the environments are looking a little bland. Here's hoping it plays well enough to carve out its own niche.
How do these flame bait articles get approved? This is why N4G is such a 14-year-old fanboy haven...
"what Dragon Age should have been"
No.
Versus looks nice, but not every RPG needs to be an action game. Some of us like the more strategic pause-and-play style of games like Dragon Age: Origins, or even the classic turn-based combat or Dragon Quest or the older FFs.
There's a place for both styles, but I'm getting really sick of these brainless, no-attention-span, action-only fans thinking that every game needs to cate...
Alan Wake was a good and compelling game, despite its flaws. Remedy chose to focus on the narrative and thus ditched the open-world approach, and I think they mostly achieved what they aimed for.
But seriously, since when does a game that sells JUST SHY of a MILLION UNITS get cited so much as being a sales flop?
Alan Wake still sold better than 90% of the games released in 2010! For example, ModNation Racers sold less, but I don't see a bunch or stori...
In addition to this list, Amazon is also giving $10 credit for preorders of Two Worlds 2.
Yeah, it's funny how people that don't know anything about hardware think storage space is the determining factor in graphics.
If that were true, then the main thing that determined how good the games looked on your PC would be the size of your hard drive :)
Cheapest I've seen is $45 at NewEgg (w/ free shipping), which is not bad with the play & charge kit included, although I'm sure the price will go down more eventually.
He's just an "extreme critic" like Yahtzee or AVGN, etc. At least Jim usually backs up his scores with some understandable reasons.
Most of the people that outright hate him are the sad sort of fanboys who cry when an exclusive gets below a 9. "Oh no, he said Heavy Rain was a good game and gave it a 7! It deserves a 10!" - Those type of people...
Jim simply uses the full 1-10 scale instead of the 7-10 scale that most sites use.
Exactly, Reach already has a bazillion fan-created maps and game types, plus awesome co-op. It's definitely the most bang for your buck.
There are plenty of youtube vids if you want to compare. The game of course looks best on a high-end PC, but the console versions really don't look that bad.

The reviewer's less-than-descriptive "doesn't look much better than the first game" take on the graphics just sounds like a (rather crazy) opinion. It's clearly a significant ...
Yet, back when Morrowind came out, everyone was whining about how the game just got pointlessly easy after you hit level 30 or so...
Leveling scaling is only bad if its implemented poorly. Proper scaling should still make the world feel dangerous at low levels, etc. New Vegas actually does a pretty good job of it. Although that was Obsidian, I think Bethesda has enough practice by now to get it right.
No, this was clearly all part of Bobby Kotick's dastardly plan.
I just hope Sledgehammer understands the concept of "pacing" better than Treyarch seems to.
Constant action, explosions and over-the-top scenes do not a good story make.
No, I think that was The First Templar.
