Yeah, I wonder if the same people making a big deal out of this take equal care to avoid bittorrent'ing any movies published by Sony Pictures, or avoid listening to any MP3s (or unofficial youtube streams) by bands signed with Sony Music, etc.
Most people are total hypocrites when it comes to property rights....
You say it as if that's a bad thing :)
Half the fun of TES is ingoring the main quest and getting lost for hours exploring the world, taking on random quests, joining guilds and factions, etc. I can't wait!
"It's so important we're going to totally ignore it! That or maybe cram so much DRM down your throat that you'll forget there's a game beneath it all!"
"new IP... thats pretty bad not listing something"
How exactly do you list an unannounced new IP?
You could list an announced new IP, like Crytek's Kindgoms. But an unannounced new IP? That would basically just be making up an imaginary game title...
A *real* Banjo Kazooie sequel would be great, but I don't know if what's left of Rare is capable of producing it.
Banjo, Conker, Perfect Dark... So many great IPs. It's sad that Rare's soul has been ripped out. It would certainly be awesome if the studio could be revived.
Yeah, and these are the SAME scans that were posted earlier (originally from 4chan), just with the text cropped out.
The article title is definitely misleading.
It's the same with any product. Reasearch & development costs, empoyee wages, marketing expenses...
Making a profit isn't 'evil', it's necessary for businesses to stay alive. And especially when you're talking about a luxury good (yes, it *is* possible to live without video games), harping over profit margins is a little foolish.
Demand dictates the price. If you don't want to pay for it, don't. Protesting with your wal...
It was delayed until the next *fiscal* year, which means it could come out any time between April 2011 and March 2012.
Fallout 3's scaling was a marked improvement over Oblivion's, and Skyrim's will likely be an improvement over that, so I'm not worried.
My sentiments exactly. Paper Mario 64 was such a classic. I've been waiting for its style to be revisited. Thankfully, this game looks to do just that. (you better not be tricking us Nintendo!)
1) TESV: Skyrim
2) TESV: Skyrim
3) TESV: Skyrim
4) TESV: Skyrim
5) TESV: Skyrim
Oh, and did I mention TESV: Skyrim? Yeah, I'm looking forward to that.
They're only vaguely similar. MGS is action-stealth in 3rd person. Thief is hardcore stealth in 1st person. Garrett, the main character, is *just* a thief. He's no highly trained soldier or assassin. You really have to rely on being sneaky and knowing when to run and hide.
Truth be told, there isn't really anything like Thief on the current gen consoles. The closest in feeling would maybe be some of the stealth sections in Riddick...
Thief 2 remains the best true stealth game ever. I really, really hope they don't dumb it down (or "action it up") to appeal to the braindead masses.
That said, the new Deus Ex does look promising (and true to the spirit of the original), so that gives me some hope.
I wonder if they are talking about a new game being *developed* or just a new game being *published* by Bethesda.
Either way, I can't wait for that 14 page feature on Skyrim...
This means there will definitely be a hot red-haired chick in the game.
I'm fine with a new direction, as I feel Reach has just about perfected the classic style of Halo gameplay.
That said, Reach will still be played for years to come, so there's no need to rush out another Halo game so soon. Keep Reach supported with DLC and let the series take a break for a few years. That way when the next one hits there will actually be some anticipation.
Day 1 for me as well.
And it's awesome to see new footage, but man, that player is terrible.
I was happy to see Half Life on the list.
The opening alone to Half Life 1 let you know that this was going to be unlike any FPS before it. So atmospheric for the time.
A personal favorite of mine would have to be Thief: The Dark Project. Lord Bafford's Manor perfecly encapsulated the open-ended stealth gameplay and forced you think differently about how you played 1st person games.
No Two Worlds 2 score makes me sad :(
But good to see LBP2 and DS2 are looking great.
