That doesn't make any sense.
Does their model give them more money ? No. The $5 extra for buying all episodes separately will be far outweighed by the money people WON'T spend after trying out a few episodes.
'Less content than a retail game'
We don't know that. From what I can tell, this games is going to have a lot of value by next year.
The only problem I have with this is that it's going to be difficul...
This game is going to be great for XBONE and for PC. This is a win - win situation.
That's arbitrary.
How do you know if it's too much for 1080p 60fps ? That depends entirely on the kind of graphical effects the game has, and what settings Remedy are targetting with recommended specs.
I'm betting this game will be one of the most visually impressive titles out there on PC.
The only problem with that is Episodic content can't hold the interest of players for that long. So instead of a full sized campaign, you have to wait a long time, play a bunch of hours, then wait a looong time, play a few more hours, wait...
I really hope they can find ways to make the content very lengthy and replayable.
The lighting is something special in this game. It really is the first game to use such a solution fully. The result is very impressive and dynamic lighting that really simulates how light behaves in real life.
"BS, it's completely understandable"
What's BS ?
"That statement is going to become another PR nightmare for Ubi, as far as PC gaming goes."
Why is that BS? That is 100% true. I don't care if the article is sensationalist or if the dev didn't mean it like that. The fact that it is now a statement associated with a Ubisoft dev... is a BAD thing for them.
Common sense will tell you that.
"Add effects and higher resolution assets"
They already had higher resolution assets and better effects. Assets are always built much higher quality anyway. Lighting, texture quality, Global Illumination. These are things that the engine is already capable of to a higher quality.
That said, there were probably some legitimate reasons for downgrading the PC version. It's probably hard to feasibly develop a separate build with significantly differe...
Lol, the industry makes most of it's revenue from consoles... atleast as far as AAA gaming goes.
We wouldn't have these big, complex, high production value games if not for consoles.
No, what the statement means is "We don't want to give PC graphics that are too much better than consoles"
The statement implies parity for parity's sake. That is unacceptable in itself.
However, I doubt the dev meant it that way. There are probably other bigger reasons for downgrading the PC version... I hope.
Does it matter ?
It comes down to this -
Did they downgrade things they could have left as options ? If yes, that's stupid, and sad, and is... well... sad.
If they downgraded things because they could not be easily left on as options. ie, if it would require a huge effort from their side, and cause performance issues on most PCs, then I have no problem.
Basically -
If the INTENTION of the downgrade was ease of development...
@FullmetalRoyale
That's true. The Division is already one of the best looking games out there on PC. Also, it's clear to see the PC version is not just a port.
That said, if they omit higher grahpics OPTIONS from a PC simply because they don't want it to look too much better than consoles, that's bullshit.
If it has to do with ease of development, sure. Two different builds and all that, no problem. If it has more to do with downgradi...
@Errorist76
I agree with everything you said.
Doesn't change the fact that "We have to keep it in check with consoles" is something that people will remember for a long time, in a bad way.
Also, I don't know if you understood what the statement implies. "We need to keep it in check with consoles... would not be fair to push it too far from them"
That has nothing to do with two builds and what not. Th...
lmao
That statement is going to become another PR nightmare for Ubi, as far as PC gaming goes.
Very impressive stuff
It's made by Remedy. There, you should now be convinced it'll be good :P

'The devs didn't optimized'
You don't know that. It could just be the fact that on high and ultra settings, they've got a lot of advanced graphical features that most games don't have (all at a time) in an open world game.
More often than not, we need to turn down settings, it's that simple. We can't expect that when we turn on lots of high resolution shadows, volumetrics, object detail, high draw distance, high quality reflect...
Only watched the walkthrough, but this story is begging to be continued.
On the Neogaf 2016 PC screenshot thread, this game is easily the best looking one.
Apart from Rise of The Tomb Raider, that is. which looks stunning in it's own way. Obviously, it's difficult to compare as the two are very different.
Suffice it to say this is one of the best looking games I'm seeing right now.
So GTX 970 probably for 1080p high settings, like many other games. The previous '980ti' requirement was for Ultra settings.
Makes sense.
