First, let me say I've played Uncharted 2 and a lot of TLOU. Some of the best games ever made imo, and they are absolutely technical masterpieces as well.

but
"Best graphics I've ever seen by far on any console or PC, PERIOD"

I mean... how ? Hate to break it to you, the majority of those screenshots don't look THAT special or anything. Apart from some of the closeup character shots. Many games on PC can certainly look bet...

I don't know if that's really the case. It's probably further along in development than this article makes you think. The dev said a lot about improving tools and feedback and so on. That's always the case, and always an ongoing process.

The game is nowhere close to done, I think, but still, it's not like they're just starting or anything.

They did start development all the way back then, but obviously the majority of the team was working on The Witcher 3. Throw in the fact that The Witcher 3 was delayed, and the then you've got two big expansions as well.

Also, it seems pretty clear that the scope for Cyberpunk 2077 changed somewhere along the way. The project is now a lot more ambitious than what it was.

I don't know... I'm looking at the comparison and immediately I can tell one is much much better graphically than the other. To add to that, as others have said, ME1 used a lot baked lighting. ME catalyst is realtime. Even putting that aside, Catalyst looks much better to me in the video.

"It's pretty terrible they still haven't managed to optimize the engine enough to at least get 900p for XBO and 1080p for PS4."

you mean it's terrible they haven't cut down on graphics features to hit higher resolutions. You can't have the cake and eat it.

Dice are one studio that happen to be great at optimization.

It's 60 fps. 60fps with an open world, dynamic TOD with global illumination, screenspace reflections etc. It's not too far from what you'd generally expect.

3705d ago 11 agree11 disagreeView comment

no, it does not.

Those screenshots look eons ahead of the first game. Maybe you should play it again to remind yourself of how old it is. It can look nice at times, but it's painfully obvious that it's all static/baked. There's sooo much more going on in ME Catalyst, and it runs at 60fps. Ofcourse it isn't going to look THAT good on console.

@Dark Witness

1. It looks much better than the first game. People have forgotten about that game. I just played it recently. Don't know if you realize, but so much of the lighting in ME1 is baked, as opposed to ME catalyst, which has a fully dynamic TOD, indirect lighting and better reflections.

2. 60fps. It renders twice as fast as most of the other games out there. Ofcourse it isn't going to look that good.

The Order has a bigger problem imo. See Quantum Break with all it's time power gameplay ? Now, imagine Quantum Break without any of the time powers.

That's essentially what the Order is. The gameplay is nothing more than a standard, oversimplified, Third Person Cover Shooter. Throughout the entire game, you're doing what you only have to do for the first 10 minutes in Quantum Break. It's like an old Gears Of War game, without all the chainsaw executions. ...

The story is brilliant too, if you explore and get the whole thing. There's more to it than meets the eye at first. Just about all of it makes complete sense, is consistent with the logic and science presented in the game... it's just really cool stuff.

Well, I thought it was amazing. Got a little repetitive, but it kept me hooked. Story was brilliant, especially if you explored. Visuals were fantastic, and gameplay was often thrilling.

If the game is nothing more than a cover shooter, it's going to be boring for a lot of people. I'm talking about the Single Player here. Multiplayer will always be fun because you're playing against other people. Singleplayer on the other hand... the player needs to feel like a part of the world. Today, you just aren't going to achieve that if gameplay complexity goes no further than cover shooting.

There needs to be more complexity, more mechanics - even smal...

Well, is it a 60fps SinglePlayer game ?
because if so, it's going to come at a huge cost to visuals. Remember Halo 5...

Not to say the game can't look great and be a fantastic visual experience all round, which it probably will be.

"One of these developers happened to sleep with someone in order to receive a positive review on her game. "

So you know for a fact that she was whoring because she wanted positive reviews ? There's really no need to make statements like that.

You could just stick with the facts. There were sexual relationships that could potentially have affected reviews (and obviously did in some way). Whether or not positive reviews were because of that, we don&...

Wish Remedy had the time to do a proper version. Especially after Alan Wake on PC...

Shitty ports aren't good for anyone.

Yes, there is ghosting. No, it's not because of physically based rendering. That is unrelated :P

From what I've read/watched, it has to do with the temporal AA solution in the game, and is made worse because of lower resolution rendering features.

On youtube, watch the Digital Foundry video on QB. It explains it I think. Or NXGamer as well. He has a couple of videos on it.

Quantum Breaks lighting tech in itself is more impressive than Uncharted 4. It's just a lot more heavy, and it really shows. Besides, Uncharted 4 couldn't use something like that anyway because it's a lot more open, has more natural environments etc. It would kill framerate.

Unfortunately, all this GI and lighting takes a huge toll on other aspects. Low res shadows, artifacts, resolution, IQ etc. Atleast on the XBONE. These are all things which Uncharted 4 has no ...

"While Quantum Break is not nearly close to the amazing Uncharted"

FFS...

Can there be any discussion that aren't ruined by comments like this ?

Gunplay in Uncharted was the worst part of the game, or atleast the most boring.
Improved a whole lot in Uncharted 2.

Not that it was bad, but it sucked compared to everything else. In Uncharted 1 I really just wanted the gunfights to be over.

"Even developers know when someone is clearly better then they are"

*cringe*
Where did anyone say that ? Where was that even implied ?I don't get why people on n4g take everything in such a retarded way.

It's just one dev giving credit to another, and being impressed and inspired. Something which goes on all the time in the industry. Why do you have to turn the concept into Remedy vs Naughty Dog. Where is that comparison every implie...
