You can keep assuming that they 'cut' a chunk out. Doesn't mean that's the case. It could well be that the content didn't make the deadline and they have to spend months developing it after the game goes gold.

To assume that everytime it was already present in the game is silly.

At the end of the day it comes down to perception. DICE should have included the French instead of some other country, and people wouldn't be complaining...

From what multiple people have said, the closed Alpha was locked at medium settings, so keep that in mind :)

However footage from the EA play event seems to have been at high/highest settings.

"Sony give Sean a full developer team to work on more projects."

If that means exclusive games, no thanks.

I edited my previous reply before I saw your edit.

"but when they wanted to add a simple skin people start shouting "that's not realistic!" "

Let me fix that for you
"They wanted to add a simple skin that would not fit in at all creatively given the time period, and wouldn't be realistic at all, and people start shouting "that's not realistic" "

Adding in guns like that affect...

Ubisoft would have had to make an entire Single Player protagonist, because their co-op was seamless. So yes, it would be hard to animate. They would essentially have to restructure their entire campaign, while creating a fully mo-capped, fully voice second protagonist as part of the story.

Everyone seems to have forgotten that when there was separate multiplayer, Ubisoft had plenty of female characters.

"In a medium that lets you do ANYTHING, this...

You're acting as if the two are exactly the same. One is a much bigger step than the other, not to mention doesn't even add much gameplay wise. Literally just a skin.

Why should they add in women soldiers ? To get with the times ? Because they're a big shooter and should be setting an example and to appeal to bigger audience ? All those reasons are categorically invalid. They have nothing to do with creative design, and everything to do with being politically c...

Like bruce755 said, fictitious to a point. That's their decision to make. If they decide to draw the line there (which, coincidentally, the fanbase would also agree with), why are people deriding them for it ?

3640d ago 4 agree0 disagreeView comment

You're right, it would be unrealistic in a big way. Would it completely ruin the game or something ? No.

That decision, however, is completely up to the devs. If they want to do that creatively - if they themselves feel it's better that way, they can do whatever the hell they want.

Their creative decision will ALWAYS, ALWAYS come first. If they think it would be weird for the setting, then they should ABSOLUTELY be able to make that decision. Scr...

@Lonnie18

Obviously, but again, what's the point of that comparison ? Oculus and Vive don't need to watch out for anything.

They're responding to the overall situation with gender politics. People don't want things to be done simply because of gender politics. People want the IP and the creative direction to be put first without compromise.

That said, it makes sense to cater to your audience, and for Mass Effect, it's 100% fine if they have FemShep as default. There's no problem with that at all. However, if you read the article, it's kind of like "They should do that ...

"I'm surprised EA didn't do it in BF1 to be honest. They got some whiners, namely VG247 who couldn't handle it"

Oh, were they annoyed at the lack of female fighters in BF1 ?

If they show off femshep for all their promo and marketing material, it might have a small effect.

3643d ago 1 agree1 disagreeView comment

That's kind of silly.
The vast majority of enemies in games are men because the vast majority of soldiers, militants etc are men. It's the same reason that the vast majority of protagonists in military and/or action games are men.

The only thing that changes in a game like Tomb Raider is the protagonist's gender. If you have no problem with Nathan Drake killing mostly men, why do you have a problem with Lara doing the same ? In this case, it feels lik...

There isn't much of a problem. The problem is when they make it an issue, when it doesn't have to be. The problem is if it gets higher priority than the actual IP.

To be honest, for Mass Effect, it's fine. The series would have no problems whatsoever with switching to the female as the postergirl for the game. I mean, what problem is there ? Mass Effect has always allowed you to play either male or female.

3643d ago 1 agree1 disagreeView comment

Well, that could be true, but if that number is done on mobile/includes mobile and facebook games etc, then they are horribly, horribly skewed.

There's a big difference between gaming on a phone or social media site and buying dedicated gaming hardware to sit down and play a game for hours.

Whatever it is, the percentage of female gamers is on the rise, that's for sure.

btw, hate to say this, but the screenshots in the article are from the reveal trailer. Take a look at the reveal trailer and look at the second trailer and the gameplay footage. Downgraded as expected.

Everything in general has been watered down, especially the draw distances, shadow LODs etc. Ofc, Ubi was running a ridiculously upscaled (not talking about resolution) version for the trailer. It'd be okay if they actually provided those options on PC, it'd be fine,...

Uh, yes they are. They are basically zombies.

Just like all the varieties in L4D are more or less zombies. Just like all the varieties in Dying Light are basically zombies. Doesn't matter what they are supposed to be called. The movie I Am Legend - close to zombies, maybe different enough to be different. What I saw in that demo - TYPICAL zombies, with some other creature that looked like an agile child monster, possibly a child zombie.

If in all th...

Dude, that makes very little difference here. Seriously lol. So what if they're infected with fungus and they look different ? They are very much like zombies in a lot of ways.

"TLOU isn't a zombie game"
Technically no, but they're very similar. They act like zombies, that's for sure.
