You've got PS2 games and five year old PC games with lip sync in them. Even games from the old Amiga had auto lipsync in them (I know, because a friend of mine programmed the feature for a game used on live TV-shows).

Good for you about saving money on XBL, but it is still 40 euro you've paid for something that fundamentally should be free as it has been on PCs for years. And I doubt most gamers will be such bargain hunters as you. What you basically is saying is that MS charge...

native 1080p gaming is only possible on the PS3 -- that may change at a later date, but nothing has been announced for X360 for true native 1080p (1080i even) games.

You do get notifications in the upper right corner when you get at text message from one of your crossgame friends.

I believe Sony has been in hurry to develop this thing, and most initial games for the platform will not use all, if any, of the Sony online features. But I also believe that more and more games will have support for some of the crossgame features. We'll just have to be a bit patient.

The positive thing is, we can still play online and chat from the...

For now you can't use HDMI, and there are even less TV's out there accepting component for 1080p than HDMI sets.

For now not a single game has been announced with native 1080p support for X360, while numerous titles have been announced for PS3 -- a couple of them available at launch.

All games on PS3 can be upscaled to 1080p if you select to do so (you choose resolution in the XMB).

So in what precise way does the X360 do 1080p better?

"cross game voice chat for ALL GAMES"

Do you actually use that?

"matchmaking, gamerscore, achievements, rankings, cross game invites"

They've all been shown ingame... Ofcourse there probably won't be a crossgame thing for theese just yet -- but do you really NEED that?

"video chat, free demos"

Both of theese has been announced for the PS3.

"game with fame, and of course...

" Is every game online with voice chat integration? Do they have Achievements and Gamerscore? How are they handling safety, security, hacking, viruses, and parental controls?"

Well, I've never used the voice chat thing across games ingame on XBL Gold... hardly a "must-have"... Same goes for Achievements and gamerscore, both are "nice-to-have" and won't influence my online experience by much. And regarding safety, the PS3 sounds safe enough since it...

That their service is run on Sony servers... And all games will be run on Sony servers... GameSpy is a partner in developing the Sony online network. XFire is there for publishers with multiplatform gaming and/or communities.

It has been stated in multiple places that you don't have to buy demos (it states FREE with bright yellow on items that are free, including for now the demos shown).

By using local currency it makes the cost of items more transparent. The points system on XBL is there to lower the barrier of a purchace, and is solely there for MS benefit.

That one was absolutely bull**** with not a single piece of reality to it.

Most of Sony's claims are actually quite valid, as the chart is meant to compare what you get for your buck.

1. To get even the slightest taste of XBL you will need a storage device for your X360.

2. To play online you w...

consumers has never had a say in what they would get from a console (unless you count the truly unsuccesful ones). That is a concept MS has introduced resulting in a fragmented marketplace. Fact of the matter is, you will find next to noone using a X360 Core as is. Most will buy a wireless controller and soon after a batterypack for it. And to try out XBL (which is supposed to be the real USP of X360) they'll need to buy a harddrive and XBL Gold as well -- that's $210 right there.

I've personally gone from 56kbps modem to 20mbit broadband connection in a 5 year period. There are a number of places around the world where it's possible to get up to 100mbit connections at a reasonable price -- and few places with 1000mbit even.

It might not be massmarket yet, but in 7 years time, my guess is 100mbit isn't unusual at all.

A 50GB title on a fast enough server and connection, would today take approximately 7 hours to download on my connection --...

Only on MS platforms (Vista, XBL and Windows Mobile). They won't allow it on other systems like Nokia mobile phones or competing platforms like the Mac or the PS3.

By integrating the XFire as middleware, Sony actually allows for crossplatform play with any format that XFire supports. In the future that might include mobiles as well, we just don't know. The important fact is that Sony truely tries to make it an open service.

-> PS360

Even now Blu-Ray titles has catched up with the quality of HD-DVD. HD-DVD has had the better picture quality up until recently because of a number of factors:

1. Even worse quality Blu-Ray player than the HD-DVD player.
2. Only single layer Blu-Ray discs available until the holiday season.
3. The use of a less efficient codec on Blu-Ray on early titles.

But there are multiple reasons why Blu-Ray will deliver better quality...

Come on... Slow framerates and waiting for the Blu-Ray drive has nothing to do with eachother. If it was the Blu-Ray it was waiting for, you would experience big popups of hi-res textures and geometry (like in Saints Row). No, the slow framerates are because the devs are further behind in development compared to X360 -- they've only had final devkits for less than 5 months compared to more than 14 months for the X360. I would be more willing to accept you blami...

That algorithm is already in use today and although it is good for realtime applications, it is not as efficient as i.e. JPEG2000. Even though compression algorithm without a question will vastly improve in the future, an algorithm which improves compression by 70% will in all likelihood not be of any use in realtime applications on this generation of next-gen consoles, simply because they cannot be expanded in realtime.

And regarding MS and compression algorithms, the choice o...

Please read what is actually written before answering.

GoW is indeed coming along nicely... But they've had access to final dev kits for more than a year now. If FNR3 was indeed in development for the X360 still, it would be a second gen game, because the developers would know more of how the X360 innards are working. To know and test that, the developers need final dev kits.

The PS3 devs simply haven't had access to final dev kits for more than about 5 months by now. Th...
