How come you find the reporting of sales on a island like Ireland noteworthy when you want to disregard the reporting of sales in Denmark as unimportant?

Especially since they are of comparable population (though the danish population average being wealthier), and considering the first paragraph of the Denmark report was actually about the nordic countries which are populated by about three times as many as the island of Ireland...

Just wondering...

in the nordic countries (Denmark, Sweden and Norway). Here is a press release from the distributor:

With a total population approximately like the Netherlands or more than New York. I doubt you would consider any dutch reports negligent.

In DK it's 4995 DKr for PS3, two controllers and two games...

That is US$ 906 including taxes (25% VAT)... remember to add roughly 10% sales tax to the US price as well (depending on which state you buy it in).

Take Two confirmed that they had received money for two episodes of exclusive content for GTA IV -- not specifically from MS.

But the only announced exclusive content for GTA IV is for X360... Sooo...

It is an analysts thought on why GTAIV's delay -- not confirmed truths.

"Sony blocked the early release of gta 4 on 360 because of an exclusive contract deal for a dual release only. They could not release the 360 version legally even if they wanted to."
- Well, the only deal "announced" is the one between MS and R: "the publisher received USD 50 million (EUR 37.3m / GBP 25.2m) from Microsoft for exclusive GTA IV episodic content." As you ar...

When, off the top of my head, they are missing titles like SOCOM: Confrontation (different developer and different game from SOCOM 5), GT5 Prologue (full separate game according to PH) and InFamous are mysteriously missing?

Furthermore they've conveniently made the rules to include PC multiplatform games as exclusives, ignore anything but games released in the US and they seem to be selective with what titles they take into account at MetaCritic, making X360 look better.

PS3 japan sales of 1.01m in 8 months = monthly rate of 126,5k
X360 421k in 19 months = monthly rate of 22,2k

126,5 / 22,2 = 5,7 which is almost 6

Result PS3 has outsold X360 almost 6:1 on an average monthly basis since their respective launches in Japan.

You'll get the same result using vgchartz's numbers:

They quote sales of "standalone-players" , of which there are very few Blu-ray players available in Europe at this point in time. And more importantly they are excluding the PS3 in that "study".

As someone else pointed out on this thread, that is like MS claiming they've nailed the portable MP3-player market, excluding any players starting with an "i".

Blu-ray is beating HD-DVD in Europe. And in the US. And in Japan.

Sorry, but I don't get your extensive list...

Half is wrong (starting with the first AJAX) and the other half are some of the worst things "invented"... Granted, MS has done a lot of things "right", but most has been copied from others and few are mentioned in your list.

That is the main reason for the X360's limited backwards compatibility compared to PS3. The PS3 does a relatively excellent job at upscaling, but for imagequality, native rendering will always be better.

Soooo -- do we want extensive backwards compatibility or fewer games with better imagequality?

I guess that one was really meant for me, and not Leathersoup...

"Actually (get your facts straight before you have a bunch of people believing your nonsense)... the "blind spot" in your eye is quite a bit lateral (meaning away from the middle)."

Come on... I was trying to make a point of how our minds help us... Think about it. You can look at two circles and a line -- and you see a face?!? That is our mind helping us. The rest is just detail...

Our eyes and mind (well everything about us humans) are incredibly good at adjusting sensitivity as needed. If you look at a bright light and then look at something dark, our eyes will adjust in a very short interval. In addition our minds always trys to fill out the blanks. The same goes with framerates...

Animated cartoons drawn by hand are mostly made at 12fps, movies shot at 24fps and TV at 50fps (in Europe). If you look at a cartoon, it looks pretty smooth because our mind...

Watching TV or movies is very different from watching a game:

Although the physical resolution of broadcast SDTV is 720x576i (in Europe) the actual image is a supersampling of an infinitely higher source. Like doing a 1 billion x 1 billion big rendering with the most detailed textures, models and atmospheric effects ever, then downsizing it in Photoshop to a low resolution, and even then still not as good. That is why it looks so much better than anything on computers/consoles....

1. Virtua Tennis 1 was on the Dreamcast and NOT on PlayStation 2
2. Virtua Tennis 2 wasn't a PS2 exclusive - it was also out on Dreamcast
3. Virtua Fighter was on Sega Saturn + others, and never on PlayStation
4. Virtua Fighter 2 was only released on PS2 almost 10 years after its initial release on Sega Saturn
5. Virtua Fighter 3 was on Dreamcast and never on PS2

I actually do agree with you... To me Home is just a gimmick I probably will spend time in only twice a year.

But to the millions of Second Life, Sims etc. users, it will probably be worth something. (Btw. I couldn't care less about those either)

People are gonna compare it to XBL sooner or later, so I might as well be first...

Less than half of X360 owners are using XBL as well... MS recently stated aprox. 6 mill. XBL users (including Silver) - and that is for both X360 and XBox (which they stated a couple of years ago was almost 2 mill. users)...

"6 mill. live users":

Compared to the X360 launch, Sony got more units shipped worldwide as well as to the North American market (obviously, because they had more units to begin with and only needed to split them between two markets).

Between the X360 and PS3, if we only look at the North American launch, units shipped and malfunctioning hardware, PS3 clearly had the better start...

Stating that the X360 launch went better than the PS3 launch is simply not true...

By Dec. 31st 2005, approx. two months after X360 launch, Microsoft announced they had shipped 1.5 mill. X360 consoles worldwide, including the three major territories.

By Dec. 31st 2006, approx. two months after PS3 launch, Sony announced they had shipped 1.8 mill. PS3 consoles worldwide, including two of the three major territories.

Does that mean we don't need DVD either? In fact games are made for PCs that could fit on floppy disc, does that indicate that even a CD-drive is overkill?

Throughout videogame history the amount of space needed by the average game has grown every single year, wether the extra space is really needed for entertaining gameplay or not. Nothing indicates that the same evolution won't happen in the coming years. And IF history is repeating itself, the space available on DVD will not...
