Basicly I'm with you on this...
But you have to put my reply in context to see where I was going. TheMart wrote:
"And I think the 360 GPU will be better capable of doing so compared to the RSX (no fanboys please don't say the specs aren't out yet."
Now, that is just cheap slander with no hold in the real world. My comment was to prove, that in all likelihood for what we know, the PS3 is MORE capable of 1080p than the X360. Absolutely no e...

I did realize he was talking about 1080i60 just a few minutes after my post (see my later post where I admit he is factually correct). The tearing issue is the exact reason why a lot of developers settle for 1080i30 instead.

"MS just went on the defensive, to shut SONY up, by jumping on the 1080p bandwagon."
Well, they will only succeed in that, if they actually have something for the system tha...
Neither the X360 or the PS3 can do 1080p movies (as neither Blu-Ray or HD-DVD movies are recorded in 1080p -- they both max out at 1080i, just take a look at their white papers).
And for now not a single X360 game is or has been spotted at, or been announced for 1080p, while more than eight (is it nine or ten?) games have been announced for 1080p on PS3, and most have been tried and played by journalists.
The fact is, that MS representative may be stating facts, but it s...
Neither Splinter Cell, nor Lost Planet, has been announced as 1080p games. Actually Splinter Cell has been confirmed NOT to be a 1080p game by Ubisoft...
You keep on mentioning RFOM, but the fact of the matter is, several crossplatform games, developed simultaneously on the PS3 and X360 (so you can't use that "extra dev time argument") are 1080p on the PS3 version (Marvel Ultimate Alliance, Virtua Tennis 3).
Now if 1080p was so easy on the X360, why aren't thos...
HDR and 4xAA at the same time -- it will just cost performance in other areas, just as on the X360. Only a few X360 games actually uses the two simultaneously.
Btw the jump from 480p to 720p is the same relatively speaking as the jump from 720p to 1080p, making your statement moot.
One thing the MS guy forgets to elaborate on, is the fact that a 1080i game at full framerate, actually runs at half the framerate of a 1080p 60fps game. Why? He actually explains the...
And most countries have more money than Bill Gates...
If you've got a 400 disc DVD-changer, you would surely not worry to much about $200 extra. What a waste of money...
I guess you don't play online either? Or if you do, you won't consider playing online for more than a year? Or do you expect your X360 to break down within your first year of ownership?
Maybe you should just spend your $200 saved on online gaming on your X360 for the next 4 years... MS will abandon your console by then anyways, just as they did with...
The PS3 ships with the same cable connections as the X360 Core which they compared it to...
And regarding the batteries in the controller, with a 30 hour play time between recharges and 1000 charge cycles in a normal lithium-ion battery, that would be a lifetime of approx. 19 years if you play 30 hours a week every single week...
Do you really play that much? If so, then you should sincerely consider to go out some more...
That is spectacular, since no HDMI cable for X360 has been announced at this point in time... Where exactly did you get that?
And actually online is $50 a year... Are you only gonna play online for one year?
So with 1 year online and a harddrive, the total price of X360 is $450 -- that is just a $50 price difference to the comparable basic PS3. And for those extra bucks you get a highdef movieplayer, rechargeable batteries in your controllers and free online for ...
And there you were stating the exact same rubbish.
The "a" and "b" variants are from 1999 and use the bands you've stated. The "g" (from 2003) and "a" variants are in principle equally as fast, but because the "a" variant is in the 5GHz spectrum, it is almost entirely restricted to line of sight.
That is why the "g" standard today is the standard.
And btw, the PS3 allows for both a/b/g wifi netwo...
First of all, I didn't copy/paste anything. Please show me a link to the site I supposedly copied from -- you won't find any, because I wrote it myself.
Second, I do make a point out of stating that you can't compare consoles like that. I didn't -- MS did...
Thirdly, it's the quality of games that should be our concern -- I thought we actually agreed on that. Therefore the quality of the developers tools should be of no importance to us. With that said, a lot of ...
"HD DVD is an option $200.00 buys allot of games."
But if you are a gamer, you would probably spend those $200.00 on XBL Gold for 4 years of online play. Actually make that $250 as you would expect to keep and play your console for five years, wouldn't you.
I'm not gonna refute every point in that post just because you want me to (that is simply to much work and I can't be bothered just because of you wanting me to). But I will pick one statement and tear it apart for you. It is done off my head, so my numbers may be slightly wrong, but overall I'll be right:
"Xbox 360 has 278.4 GB/s of memory system bandwidth. The PS3 has less than one-fifth of Xbox 360's (48 GB/s) of total memory system bandwidth."
That is simpl...
Sony showed the online store functioning for the first time. Although they did state prices are not final, they had demos set at a free price.
They furthermore stated that all content will be priced below $15 and some stuff will be really cheap -- the same price range as XBL.
It is possible that the average stuff on Sony's network will be more expensive than on XBL, but there have been no indication of that -- quite on the contrary actually (gameprices were suppo...
XBL is under complete control of MS. No thirdparty or developer is allowed to add their own specific services for their games, something which a couple have publicly stated an interest in.
We do know most of the important aspects of the Sony service -- it is just the minute details and extra features that are still somewhat in a cloud of mystery.
The only company that has done completely misleading and unfounded comparrisons is Microsoft with this one:

Nothing in that article is factual. Just about every statement in that one was unfounded and untrue...
In this new comparison chart Sony actually got their facts right, it is just the premise of the comparison that is debatable -- Sony sh...
Both PS3 and the X360 Wireless addon are able to communicate with both a/b/g wireless networks.
The g variant is clearly the fastest by a wide margin, not b as you seem to imply -- a and b are only there for backwards compatibility.
Nothing in that chart is technically wrong or biased, if you want to have a somewhat similar experience as the one you will get with the basic PS3 edition.
1. To use XBL you will need a storagedevice.
2. To play ...
You simply can't directly compare the specs of RSX and Xenos as they are completely different architectures and performance thus can't be read from their specs.
For instance we've seen multiple games have improved shaders over their X360 counterpart (like COD3, MUA, VT3) and several higher definition PS3 games as well (NBA07, RR7, VT3) -- which kinda contradicts that the Xenos is supposed to deliver better graphics.
Maybe that is because it is not an apples to apples com...
You are wrong again. 4 mill. people are using XBL -- that is on Xbox and X360 COMBINED... PS2 is still the single most popular console for online gaming!
Sony's price policy is online content for less than $14.99 -- the exact same as for XBL!
Just as with boxed games, Sony is comitted to price PS3 software competitively compared to X360.
