You've missed the point.

"3) Gears of War already looks better than any ps3 games on day one as well and similar games being superior i.e. online and graphics (call of duty 3, tony hawk)."

That was exactly what happened back in the Dreamcast/PS2 days as well. Crossplatform PS2-launch titles were more solid and better looking on the Dreamcast, and the Dreamcast had online functionality.

"Still, no dreamcast game could sell 2.5 million copies in o...

I might have exagerated a bit, but it's paraphrasing a quote from Phil Harrison. Anyways, here is what I've dug up just to please you...

"With over 1100 employees in 11 countries"... Here's a list of subsidiaries for SCEA (of which all do console games):

Clap Hanz
Polyphony Digital
SCE Japan Studio (includes Team ICO, Team Siren, etc.)
Incognito Entertainment
Naughty Dog
SCE Bend Studio (formerly ...

People have grown dependant on MS technologies during a period of more than 20 years. Linux is free, but it is also less enduser friendly and has less viable choices for consumer and business applications.

Not much of a mystery there... Linux does slowly gain marketshare though.

Regarding web-development, more than half the webservers out there are not Windows servers. And a lot of webdevelopment is done in platform agnostic languages like PHP, Java and JavaScript. <...

The Dreamcast did have:

Dead or Alive, NBA2K, Quake III, Half Life, Crazy Taxi, Soul Calibur and Grand Theft Auto 2

It did have support from the major Japanese publishers like Sega (obviously), Capcom and so forth...

And there are actually more than 290 games out there for it... a bit more than what are out there for the X360 (or the PS3 for that matter).

It did sell a total of 10,6 mill. consoles in a smaller market than today.

It di...

That to me the X360 controller is useless for playing PES/WE, and I've actually bought the PS2 version as well just because of that. Now I miss the graphics instead...

Oh... And let's not forget that Sony has more firstparty developers than MS and Nintendo combined... There will be plenty of PS3 exclusives...

While Sega and MS can't be directly compared, Sega did already have an installed userbase from Saturn (it sold approx. 10 mill. units compared to XBox 24 mill., which isn't too bad considering the total market back then).

And the X360 is not the number one used online console -- that title still belongs to PS2, although probably not for long.

And the number of PS3 exclusives gone X360 exclusive are very few and far between -- most goes multiplatform non-exclusive...

Are you guys serious? BBC is a comercially independent state-owned broadcasting network -- doesn't get much more independant than that...

And btw the PS3's have been touring European press for months and recently the public as well (I personally got a chance to play one just this last weekend).

I believe it has more to do with Sony offering developers choice. On the X360 all developers are forced to always use the builtin audio chat service. If a developer isn't satisfied with for instance the sound quality, it is just plain bad luck.

The same goes for instant messaging service, multiplayer servers etc...

Wether this is a bad or a good decision differ depending on who you ask.

You haven't downloaded an entire movie yet?

You are right... better not waste valuable hdd-space on a movie, and then have 1 less to choose between before the new year.

Oh... and the PS3 was never announced to ship in Europe before this November... I thought you knew... Guess not...

that for now it seems the PS3 is more about potential than execution, the reviewer can't possibly justify to point possible potential out as bad points. When has potential ever been bad -- or more accurately when has potential ever been bad, when the competitor compared to in most of a review, are missing those features entirely?

At worst he could disregard them, and just not mention them in his final good and bad list (although my personal oppinion is he should have put a sing...

But how can the following points possibly be bad???

* Games continue to play even if you eject the disc; you have to manually restart the UI via the controller

Not having it work like that, would be different from most other consoles and would annoy the hell out of me. Seriously, even if the reviewer likes it differently, it can't possibly justify for a big bulletpoint, especially when the mediafunctionality positives are only mentioned briefly in five words. <...

No moviedownloads for you then... happy birthday!

And to the fortunate americans who are actually able to pay and "rent" one of the 5-6 movies available online on their X360's before christmas -- good for you... enjoy!

Why are you surprised that you can't view HD-content, when your TV isn't even HD-Ready?

For a TV to be HD-Ready, support for input resolutions of both 720 and 1080i are required (read the technical part):

And how is it, that you guys prefer your console to upscale instead of your HDTV's? If you've got anything but the cheapest HDTV, the upscaler in your...

I for one don't want a component cable, as my HDMI switch wouldn't work with that. From my point of view, the decision not to include HD-cables makes sense.

In fact one could argue, atleast Sony gives a choice of HD-cables, while MS forces you to use component. In my setup that is less than ideal -- could be for other than me as well.

Wasn't it Joystiq that reported the audio quality of audio and videochats in XMB were noticeable better on the PS3 compared to the X360? They did mention it could possibly be the use of standard wired headsets instead of Microsofts subpar headsets.
